Baton Rouge Police say a teenager has been arrested in connection with a Tuesday night shooting that sent a 19-year-old woman to the hospital. They believe the 16-year-old boy was sitting in the back seat of a car when he accidentally fired a handgun hitting the victim who was sitting in the front passenger seat. The victim remains hospitalized in stable condition. The boy is charged with negligent injuring and juvenile in possession of a firearm.

The search for a man wanted in a fatal Sunday shooting in Winnsboro has ended after the suspect was found dead. When police responded to a report of shots fired at a Monroe motel Tuesday, they discovered 28-year-old Mario Doyle dead from an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. Doyle was wanted for a shooting that killed 30-year-old Calvin Toles and injured two others, including a 10-year-old child. At last report, the child was listed in stable, but critical condition.

The arrival of the Holiday Season also signals the arrival of flu season. Dr. Frank Welch with the Department of Health and Hospitals says luckily this flu season is off to a slow start. Morgan City Police have arrested two people accused of using fake movie prop money to make purchases. They say 22-year-old Vanisha August and 20-year-old Detrell Coleman are charged with monetary instrument abuse in separate incidents. The bills are marked “Motion Picture Use Only”, but authorities are finding bills with the notice covered in ink. Similar complaints about fake money have also been lodged in Terrebonne, Lafourche, and Assumption Parishes.

Lawyers for one of the two people accused in the 2012 death of a Bourbon Street stripper is asking for her trial to be moved. Attorneys for Margaret Sanchez say media coverage on the murder and dismemberment of 22-year-old Jaren Lockhart would corrupt jury selection for her upcoming trial. Sanchez is charged with second degree murder in connection to Lockhart’s death. Sanchez’s accomplice, Terry Speaks, was found guilty of second degree murder in June.

State judge William Bennett has allowed one of two marshals involved in a November 3rd fatal shooting of a six-year-old boy in Marksville to post bond. Norris Greenhouse Junior was having trouble getting released from jail, because state law bans lawyers from posting bond. Greenhouse’s father is an attorney, but Judge Bennett said that law doesn’t apply to this case.

Blue Bell ice cream lovers have an additional reason to celebrate this holiday season. The creamery announces its coming back to the Pelican State on December 21st. Blue Bell pulled its ice cream from the shelves in April over listeria concerns. The popular ice cream has been coming back in phases over the last few months. Spokesperson Joe Robertson says most of their retail partners have welcomed them back and they’ll be in most major grocery stores. He says currently, they’re only selling five flavors of ice cream.

A judge is allowing the family of Norris Greenhouse Junior to post bond, which paves the way for his release from jail. Greenhouse is one of two officers accused in the shooting death of a six-year-old autistic boy in Marksville. A Louisiana law that prohibits lawyers from posting bond kept Greenhouse in jail. His father is a prosecutor, but Judge William Bennett ruled that the law doesn’t apply in this case.

Several members of the national media say its crazy that LSU would fire Coach Les Miles, despite five straight losses to Alabama and a current three-game losing streak. Athletic Director Joe Alleva has declined to comment on the record about rumors of Miles dismissal at the end of the year. Dennis Dodd of cbs-sports-dot-com says Alleva is mishandling the situation….
