Louisiana’s five uncommitted Marco Rubio delegates have announced that they will back the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump. Kirk Williamson, a Louisiana delegate, says they’re following the voters’ lead…:

Williamson says the delegates will rally behind the candidate who has the best chance of defeating the Democratic opponent, likely Hillary Clinton, in the general election.

Tragic story out of Shreveport. Police say 2 people are dead and 6 others wounded in a shooting incident that happened overnight in the northern part of the city. There is no word on whether anyone is in custody in connection with the shootings, which remain under investigation.

There were no winners in last night’s Powerball drawing, which means the jackpot for Saturday now goes up to $415 million dollars for Saturday. The cash value is $269 million dollars.

A Senate approved measure that would legalize the sale of raw milk from farmers to consumers died by one vote in a House committee today. State Health Officer Dr. Jimmy Guidry says pasteurizing milk kills the bacteria and removes risk. He says the CDC, the FDA and other organizations agree that drinking raw milk is not safe…:

Supporters say it should be the right of Americans to sell and consume raw milk if they want to. The failing vote was 8-7.

A shootout during the overnight hours in Shreveport killed two people and injured six others. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have yet to announce any arrests or what caused the shootout.

Deputies in Bossier Parish arrest a man who allegedly brutally beat his live-in girlfriend over a 24 hour period. They say 39-year-old Jason Hull of Tensas is accused of punching the victim with a closed fist in the head and mouth, biting her and choking her. According to investigators, she was able to escape after a day of enduring this and deputies located and charged Hull with second degree battery domestic violence and possession of meth.

Authorities say an arrest has been made in the death of a student from Destrehan High who was set to graduate next week. The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office booked 22-year-old Javon Wells for second degree murder. The victim is identified as Kendall Williams Jr.

A bill that would alter the way people receive compensation for being jailed for crimes they did not commit stalls in a House committee. The measure was aimed at getting some money for the late Glenn Ford of Shreveport who was wrongfully on death row for 30 years. Courts denied Ford compensation saying he helped plan a crime that led to the murder. The DA’s Association Director Pete Adams says compensation is for people who are 100% innocent…:

But supporters feel anyone who has been failed by the system deserves compensation.

A report from the CDC says the teen birth rate in Louisiana is down to 37.5 per 1,000 girls aged 15-19, a marked improvement from 69 per 1,000 teens reported two years ago. DHH Secretary Rebekah Gee says parents can help prevent teen pregnancies by talking to their kids…:

D1 baseball projects, out of the field of 64, LSU could do a little traveling as they keep working on the road to Omaha. It has the Tigers heading to Hattiestburg, Mississippi for the Southern Miss Regional as the No. 2 seed. Southern Miss, the host team, would be the No. 1 seed with Wake Forest at No. 3 and Southeastern seeded No. 4. That same projection has the Hattiesburg Regional paired with the Starkville Regional, which would be led by Mississippi State and Tulane.

Speaking of Southeastern, they shutout the third-highest scoring team in the nation last night as six Lions pitchers combined to lead the team to a 15-0 non-conference win over Jackson State. Southeastern is now 32-13. The Lions next head to Lamar this weekend in a key Southland Conference series. The first-place Lions lead third-place Lamar by two games in the conference standings, with three weeks left in the regular season.

Louisiana Tech had an easy time over ULM in Ruston last night, as the Bulldogs downed the Warhawks 14-4. Tech plated the 14 runs on 12 hits and took advantage of 10 walks by ULM pitchers. LA Tech improved to 28-14 overall on the season while the Bulldogs have won six of their last seven and 10 of their last 12 games heading into this weekend’s three-game Conference USA home series against Middle Tennessee.

Ole Miss baseball Coach Mike Bianco, who played at LSU from 1988-89, and coached for the Tigers from 93-97, will reportedly be sending his son, Drew, to play ball for LSU.

The R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl this year will be in prime time once again in December as the Saints will be out of town. ESPN released the bowl schedule Wednesday. The December 17th contest in The Big Easy will take place December 17th at 8pm. The Camping World Independence Bowl in Shreveport will be at 5pm the day after Christmas.

A Gonzales man is under arrest on animal cruelty charges after Ascension Parish Deputies responded to a complaint and located a dog tied to a pole at a residence severely malnourished, and with visible sores on its nose, legs and blood behind his ears. The Sheriff’s Office says the suspect, 39-year-old John Green, was also charged for not having a rabies tag or proper vaccination records for his dog. A GoFundMe account has been set up where people can donate to help fund the dog’s recovery. His name is Prince Adams.

A proposal to alter the conditions under which a person who was wrongfully convicted could be compensated is dead for the session. Phillip Rozeman’s uncle was murdered 35 years ago, and Glenn Ford spent 30 years in jail for the crime, which he did not commit. Ford was not compensated for his time behind bars, because he was implicated in crimes related to the murder. Rozeman spoke in opposition, saying if Ford was not involved, there wouldn’t have been a murder.

Pete Adams, Executive Director of the District Attorney’s Association, also opposes the bill. He says the compensation is meant for people who are wrongfully convicted, not for those who get their convictions overturned.

But Baton Rouge Representative Denise Marcelle supports the bill. She says these people have been failed by the system, and they deserve compensation.

Louisiana’s teen birth rate has declined substantially over the last decade. A report from the Centers for Disease Control shows Louisiana’s teen birth rate is 37.5 for 2013-14, which is a decrease from the 2006-07 rate of 69. Department of Health and Hospitals Secretary Rebekah Gee says this is great news for Louisiana. Gee says she thinks teens are practicing safer sex, or better yet abstinence.

Louisiana now ranks 7th in the country for teen births. Gee says there’s been a trend to use more effective birth control in teens who have decided to have sex to keep these teen pregnancy rates down.

Governor John Bel Edwards doesn’t want to give 40-thousand state workers a pay raise next year. It’s because the state is looking at a 600-million dollar revenue shortfall. The Civil Service Commission has the final say and plans on making a decision on the governor’s request next month.

A proposal that would have limited travel of college athletic teams other than LSU is dropped. Baton Rouge Representative Steve Carter decided against moving forward with his legislation.
