28-year-old Tiger Bech was one of the victims of the New Year’s terrorist attack in New Orleans. Bech graduated from St. Thomas Moore in Lafayette in 2015 as a three-sport athlete. His younger brother played at LSU for two seasons and will play in the NFL next season after having a big year at TCU in 2024. The Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association announced its All-Louisiana team. LSU stars Garrett Nussmeier and Whit Weeks won offensive and defensive players of the year. ULM running back Ahmad Hardy won freshman of the year, Tulane wide receiver Mario Williams was named the Newcomer of the year, and UL-Lafayette Head Coach Michael Desormeaux earned coach of the year honors after leading the Cajuns to a Sun Belt West title.

The Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team opens Conference USA play tonight at 10-and-3 UTEP. The Bulldogs are 11-and-2 to start the season, but coach Talvin Hester knows conference play is on another level…

The undefeated LSU women’s basketball team is heading north to face Arkansas to begin SEC hoops. The sixth-ranked lady Tigers will face the Razorbacks at 8:00.

Pelicans center Yves Missi was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month. The center led all rookies in point rebounds and blocks while averaging a double-double in the month of December.

Federal investigators are now saying the terrorist attack in the New Orleans French Quarter was not a coordinated event. FBI Deputy Assistant Director of Counter Terrorism Christopher Raia says 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar acted alone when he drove at a high rate of speed on Bourbon Street.

Jabbar drove from Houston to New Orleans on December 30th posting videos to Social Media along the way. In one, Jabbar proclaimed his support of ISIS which he said he joined before this summer.  Raia says FBI Bomb Technicians recovered two IEDs inside coolers.  One at the cross-section of Bourbon and Orleans Avenue and a second one two blocks away.

After the terrorist attack, authorities wasted no time in beefing up security in the French Quarter. Heavy-duty metal barricades called “Archers” have been installed along Bourbon Street sidewalks. The archer barricades are portable and can withstand vehicle impacts. They temporarily replace the bollards that are usually present but had been removed for repair prior to the attack.

Baton Rouge native Kareem Badawi was one of the victims of the Bourbon Street terrorist attack. The recent Episcopal graduate was a freshman at the University of Alabama. Episcopal Head Football Coach Travis Bourgeois coached Badawi all four years.

President Joe Biden says the FBI is working non-stop, investigating the New Year’s Day terrorist attack on Borbon Street. Biden says the man who carried out the attack is 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a Houston resident who served in the United States Army and served in the Army Reserve until a few years ago….

FBI Bomb Technicians recovered two functionable IEDs inside coolers in the French Quarter. 15 people are confirmed dead including Jabbar. Raia says before Jabbar plowed through a crowd on Bourbon Street, he placed two coolers containing bombs on the streets…

The F-B-I now says the man who drove a rented pickup truck at a high rate of speed down Bourbon Street killing at least 14 others, acted alone and they no longer believe others were involved in the New Orleans terrorist attack. FBI Deputy Assistant Director of Counter Terrorism Christopher Raia says that 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove from Houston to New Orleans on Monday posting five videos to his Facebook account during this time.

Raia says Jabbar also said in one of the videos he was a member of ISIS and joined the terrorist organization just before summer.

The Lady Techsters will host UTEP at 6:30 in Ruston while the 11-and-2 Louisiana Tech men’s team will head to El Paso to face 10-and-3 Miners at 8:00.

Protective ballards were not up because they are under repair, so New Orleans Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick says they had a police vehicle parked to block Bourbon Street at the intersection of Bourbon and Canal…

At this hour, federal, state and local officials are providing an update on the investigation into the New Year’s Day morning terrorist attack on Bourbon Street that killed at least 15 people and left more than 30 injured. The FBI says 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove at a high rate of speed, killing innocent people who were celebrating the New Year’s holiday.

Authorities believe Jabbar did not act alone. New Orleans Congressman Troy Carter has a message for Jabbar’s accomplices…

We are starting to learn about the people killed in yesterday’s terrorist attack in New Orleans. Two of the victims are from Mississippi, two from Baton Rouge, two from the New Orleans area, Nicole Perez and Hubert Gauthreaux, a recent graduate of Archbishop Shaw. Former St. Thomas More football star Tiger Bech also died after the terrorist’s truck hit him.
