State Police say they’ve arrested three people that, together, lead investigators to the largest ever seizure of child pornography by LSP. The accused are 51-year-old James Dalton Vail of Shreveport, 30-year-old Steven Paul Lucia of LaPlace and 35-year-old Nicholas Bordelon of Hessmer. Troopers say Vail alone was found to be in possession of over one million illicit files. The investigation of the three men remains ongoing.

The first murder to occur in the Hammond city limits in over two years took place last night. Lisa Lambert with Hammond Police says 24-year-old Tremayne Sandifer allegedly fatally shot 34-year-old William Davis in a drug deal gone wrong..:

She says Sandifer is charged with first-degree murder, carjacking and carrying a firearm by a convicted felon.

The Saints began a three-day minicamp at the team’s training facility in Metairie today. As long as there are no thunderstorms, fans will be able to attend the practices. They’ll get a chance to see if backup quarterback Garrett Grayson has improved over last year, who will be lining up at defensive end opposite of Cam Jordan and the new draft picks, like second round pick Michael Thomas.

LSU first baseman Greg Deichmann has told the Baton Rouge Advocate he will return to the Tigers next season. Deichmann was drafted in the 26th round by Minnesota. Right-handed pitcher Riley Smith announced on Instagram that he plans on signing with Diamondback after he was selected in the 31st round by the Diamondbacks, despite a 7.66 ERA. And LSU outfielder Antoine Duplantis was named a second-team all-american by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

And the SEC will have a team in the College World Series. Florida blanked instate rival Florida State seven to nothing to punch their ticket to Omaha.

McNeese State has a new softball coach. James Landreneau has been promoted to be the head coach after serving as the Cowgirls hitting coach and recruiting coordinator since 2013. During his four years at McNeese, the Cowgirls have compiled a record of 157-66. He replaces Joanna Hardin, who took the head coaching job at Virginia.

The tragic massacre in Orlando is raising many questions about whether or not this could have been stopped. Executive Director of Behavioral Health Services at Baton Rouge General, Ann Wilder, says people can look for early warning signs of mental disorders in others that may be an indicator that person could be a danger to himself or others…:

She says any family member can reach out and get a legal status for a person to be evaluated by a psychiatrist.

Local FBI officials say they are on alert in the New Orleans area as the city prepares to host a number of gay pride events. The Orlando shooter appeared to have targeted the gay club where 49 people were killed. The area FBI says there are no specific terror threats for New Orleans, but they are going to be sure if any come up they will be addressed.

Baton Rouge is the 2nd most dangerous place to drive according to an analysis by the finance website NerdWallet. The rankings were based on things like the rate of fatal crashes, the likelihood of an accident and risk for break-ins. Scott Kirkpatrick is with the Capital Region Industry for Sustainable Infrastructure Solutions. He says Baton Rouge ranks low in nearly all metrics:

A strong cluster of thunderstorms is moving through northeast Louisiana this morning. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for West Carroll and Morehouse Parishes as the potential of three to four inches of rain in a short time period is possible.

In south Louisiana, Interstate 10 eastbound is closed at milepost 130, which is east of the Whiskey Bay Exit as a result of multiple crashes. Drivers are urged to take US 190 as an alternate route.

A new report shows Baton Rouge is the second most dangerous city to drive, ranking only behind Detroit. The analysis by the personal finance website NerdWallet examined risks for those who drive in nearly 200 of the nation’s most populated regions. There were 49 victims in the attack, and many more injured. At least 2 men with Louisiana ties were in the Pulse nightclub. 27-year-old Frank Hernandez died, who went to school in Lafayette, died. 39-year-old Leonel Melendez, a New Orleans native, is in a coma after he was shot in the head.

Today is World Blood Donor Day, and organizers say in the wake of the tragic mass shooting in Orlando, there’s no better time to give. They say there’s an urgent need for all blood types, but especially O-negative, O-positive and AB plasma.

Two people with ties to Louisiana were among the victims in the mass shooting at an Orlando gay nightclub. Twenty-seven-year-old Frank Hernandez, a former Lafayette Parish resident, was one of 49 killed, and 39-year-old Leonel Melendez, a New Orleans native, is in a coma after he was shot in the head.

The standstill continues at the State Capitol over whether lawmakers should pass tax increases that would raise 600 million dollars in revenue, which is what the governor is seeking. So far the House has approved 220 million dollars in tax increases, but New Orleans Sen. Karen Peterson says that’s not enough…:

The Edwards Administration says without that money there will be cuts to healthcare, education and the TOPS program. But GOP lawmakers don’t want to raise taxes but instead cut wasteful spending. Today, tomorrow and Thursday the New Orleans Saints will hold mini-camp practices at the club’s facility in Metairie. Each session, which run from 11am-1:20pm, is open to the public. This will give fans a chance to come check out the players as they compete for roster spots. Gates open at 10:15am.

The NFL Network is reporting that former New Orleans Saints guard Ben Grubbs could be retiring due to a persistent neck injury. Grubbs, who’s been playing for the NFL for 9 years, spent three seasons in New Orleans and earned a Pro Bowl berth with the Black and Gold in 2013. He was traded to the Chiefs in 2014 and was released last season when he failed a physical.

In other NFL news, authorities say former NFL defensive lineman Bryan Robinson was found dead in a hotel room over the weekend. The cause of death is not known according to cops. Robinson played 14 years in the NFL, six of those with the Chicago Bears.

In college baseball, LSU first baseman Greg Deichman, who was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Baton Rouge Regional, will reportedly return to the Tigers’ for his junior season. Right hander Riley Smith said on Instagram that he’s decided to skip his senior season and sign with the Arizona Dimondbacks.

Tiger Antoine Duplantis got another honor from the National collegiate Baseball Writers Association Monday as he was named to a second team All-America.

Florida grabbed the last spot in the College World Series following a shut out game against Florida State Monday. They will play a team LSU fans are familiar with, Coastal Carolina, on Sunday night. TCU also advanced after beating Texas A&M.

LSU men’s basketball coach Johnny Jones announced Monday that Al Pinkins, is leaving the program to pursue another coaching opportunity. Jones now has to hire two coaches for his staff.

In the NBA finals, LeBron James and the Cavaliers stayed on top of the Warriors to avoid elimination with a 112-97 victory in Game 5 Monday night.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Mississippi River levee in Baton Rouge last night to honor those victims and their families in the deadliest shooting in US history, at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando. Similar candlelight vigils and prayer services were held throughout the state, as the names of the 49 victims were read aloud.
