Baton Rouge Attorney Jill Craft is attempting to prevent a hearing that seeks to expel state senator Troy Brown, who has recently been convicted twice on domestic abuse charges. Craft says if the hearing takes place, Brown will not be able to review and contest evidence against him.

A police report could not find any witnesses that heard Baton Rouge state judge Mike Erwin use a racial slur towards a woman regarding a seat at the bar. And Erwin says he never used the “N” word. The woman appeared in Judge Erwin’s courtroom in 2010 for a traffic case, but community activist Daniel Banguel says that’s not why Kaneitra Johnson made these alleagations…

The Southern Miss Student who was killed after he fell from an 11th story Canal Street hotel in New Orleans was highly intoxicated at the time, according to reports. The man is identified by the coroner’s office as 20-year-old Cole Whaley. Authorities believe Whaley ran through the window breaking it, lost his balance and landed on the ground outside near the pool.

The bill moved out of the Senate Finance Committee after lawmakers spend much of the day behind closed doors debating how to resolve a $304 million midyear budget deficit. Senate President John Alario says using the fund would reduce the cuts to state agencies, but some republican lawmakers are reluctant to tap into the state’s savings account. The debate is expected to continue on Wednesday.

The alleged incident led to Erwin being banned from all of Sammy’s establishments. In a statement, Erwin says he never has and never will utter the language he’s accused of saying. Erwin also says the police report did not find a single witness who heard him use the n-word that night.
