LSU and Florida game is scheduled to be played in Gainesville, but it’s unclear whether it will kick-off at 11 AM on Saturday, because of Hurricane Matthew. Officials say a final decision on the start time will be made by noon central time tomorrow. And they say the game will not be moved out of Gainesville.

Whenever this game is played, it could be a low scoring affair. Florida has allowed just seven touchdowns, while LSU has given up five. Tigers senior linebacker Kendell Beckwith says the fewer the touchdowns allowed, the better the chances for victory…

Coach Ed Orgeron said today it’s unlikely Fournette will play. He continues to nurse a left ankle injury that’s already forced him to miss two games this season.

The Tulane and Central Florida game scheduled for tomorrow night in Orlando has been moved to November 5th, because of Hurricane Matthew. That was an easy decision, since both teams have a bye week that weekend.

There is a college football game in the state tomorrow night. Louisiana Tech hosts defending Conference USA champion Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers have won 12 straight league games.

Sad news today about L-S-U’s live mascot, Mike the Tiger. His veterinarian, Doctor David Baker, says the tumor on his face has resumed growing and his cancer has spread, and the 420-pound Tiger only has one to two months to live. Baker says Mike will no longer receive radiation treatment and their plan is to give the LSU community time to say their goodbyes…

The University of Florida has announced that they will not move the LSU-Florida game out of Gainesville, even as Hurricane Matthew moves closer to the Sunshine State. University officials say they are not sure whether or not they will have to delay kickoff, which is scheduled for 11 am on Saturday. More information is expected to come by noon tomorrow.

According to research from the Associated Press and the Center for Public Integrity, Louisiana is one of eight states that has more opioid prescriptions than residents. Dr. David Holcombe with the state Office of Public Health says pharmaceutical companies push these pills as being safer than they are, and there’s a problem with patients demanding the painkillers.

Jefferson parish residents called for parish president Mike Yenni to resign at a city council meeting today, in light of allegations that Yenni had an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old boy. Resident Richard Brown maintains that Yenni also offered the teen a job when he was the mayor of Kenner.

An unbuckled 19-year-old was killed in a single vehicle crash after her vehicle was split in half in Catahoula Parish. State Police Trooper Scott Moreau says police responded to a crash in Harrisonburg, yesterday morning involving, Reagan Rainey of Jonesville, who lost control of her vehicle and hit a tree.

The speculation is on about what’s going to happen with the LSU/Florida game slated for Hurricane Matthew threatened Gainseville this weekend. Kickoff in The Swamp is set for 11am Saturday morning, but the latest track on the massive category 3 storm is that it could hammer parts of eastern Florida beginning Thursday and continuing into the weekend. Tulane and the University of Central Florida are delaying their Friday game until Saturday November 5th because of the storm.

With top winds now reaching 120 miles an hour, Matthew has been pounding the southern Bahamas with heavy rain and storm surge. Forecasters said the storm could hit Florida, or come dangerously close, late tomorrow or early Friday and then scrape its way up the East Coast toward the Carolinas over the weekend. An update on the status of the LSU-Florida game will be announced after the latest NHC projected path is released.

A Grand Jury in Baton Rouge has formally charged the forer assistant principal accused in the death of Lyntell Washington and her unborn baby. 39-year-old Robert Marks was handed a true bill for second degree murder and second degree feticide. Washington was positively identified as the badly decomposed body found in a ditch in Rosedale, and autopsy reports show she died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The clowns just won’t go away. Now it’s the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office that’s had to make an arrest on terrorizing charges related to the creepy masks. They say a 15-year-old boy is accused of sending a threatening message to a classmate on Instagram using an account for “willietheclown.” The juvenile was arrested on terrorizing charges.

Hurricane Matthew is a threat to Florida, which is raising questions on whether the Tigers will be able to play the Gators at 11 AM in Gainesville on Saturday. If they do play at 11 AM, Danny Etling, the former Purdue quarterback, says he’s used to early kickoffs from his days in the Big Ten…

Because of Hurricane Matthew, Friday night’s Tulane-Central Florida game has been moved to November 5th. It worked out well, because both teams have an open date that weekend.

ULM is back home this Saturday to host Idaho after playing three straight on the road. Last week, the Warhawks lost to auburn 58-7. Coach Matt Viator says for them to have success this Saturday, they’ll need to tackle better…

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office arrests a woman accused of trying to kill her ex-boyfriend. They say 49-year-old Lisa Snowten allegedly broke into her ex’s house and attacked him before pointing a gun at him and shooting it — but it didn’t discharge. Cops say Snowten then went to the victim’s current girlfriend’s place of employment where she was apprehended and arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder and domestic abuse battery.

The LSU vet school says Mike the Tiger’s cancer is getting worse and officials are holding a press conference at this hour to discuss the next steps of his treatment. His caretakers found a tumor on his face earlier this year and a CT scan this week discovered that the tumor is spreading.

And we are still waiting to hear if there will be any changes with this Saturday’s LSU game at Florida, because of Hurricane Matthew.

Alexandria is mourning the death of Ned Randolph, who was the city’s mayor from 1986 to 2006. Current mayor, Jacque Roy, says Randolph will be missed, because he always wanted what’s best for the Cenla Region…
