The younger brother of Leonard Fournette, Lanard Fournette, has been busted for allegedly using a fake ID so he can play craps at a Baton Rouge casino. The 20-year-old Fournette is also a running back for the LSU Tigers.

Poor field conditions and the threat of further inclement weather has forced the cancellation of Tuesday’s first round Sun Belt Conference games in Statesboro, Georgia. The league says an updated schedule will be announced when available. The Sun Belt is currently looking at alternative sites and make-up schedules. The fourth seeded Cajuns were scheduled to play fifth seeded Georgia Southern tomorrow night.

Louisiana Tech begins play in the Conference USA tournament tomorrow night. The Bulldogs are on the bubble as far as making the NCAA Tournament for a second straight season. Tech Head Coach Lane Burroughs says they can remove all doubt if they win the tournament….

The Louisiana Attorney General’s office has announced the arrest of a Minden woman who allagedly stole nearly 400-thousand dollars from residents at retirement home in Arcadia. A-G Jeff Landry says 49-year-old Stehanie Sanders Hays executed several scemes over three-and-half years to gain access to financial assets.

Nungesser says Texas and Mississippi have great horse shows, but Louisiana is also home to some of the finest equestrian facilities in the country.

The governor recommended a five-million dollar cut to State Police, but the House’s spending plan calls for an overall reduction of $23 million from the current fiscal year. Maj. Doug Cain says this could lead to fewer troopers.

Billy Broadhurst an adviser to former Governor Edwin Edwards and many other politicians has died at the age of 77. Broadhurst was also on the yacht that sunk the 1988 Democratic presidential campaign of Gary Hart. During the cruise, a picture was taken of Donna Rice sitting on Hart’s lap, leading to allegations of an extramartial affair.

Juniors Alex Lange and Greg Deichmann have been named to the All SEC first-team. Lange led the SEC with 111 strikeouts and compiled a seven and five record. Deichmann has led the Tigers offense with 17 home runs and 63 RBIS. The Tigers will begin play in the SEC Tournament on Wednesday at about one o’ clock against the winner of the today’s game between Texas A-and-M and Missouri. Paul Mainieri has announced freshman pitcher Todd Peterson will start tomorrow.

Louisiana Tech is the 5th seed in the Conference USA Tournament and they’ll face Charlotte tomorrow night at MGM Park in Biloxi. Bulldogs Coach Lane Burroughs says winning this tournament will not be easy…

The Saints begin voluntary organized team activites today. The Advocate newspaper reports tight end Josh Hill will not fully participate, because he’s still coming back from a broken fibula. UL Lafayette’s Gunner Leger has been named Sun Belt Pitcher of the Year. The lefty is 10-2 with a 2.03 ERA.

New Orleans Senator JP Morrell’s measure puts a 180-million dollar cap on the credits handed out and it’s expected to help movie production grow in Louisiana. A Mississippi lawmaker has apologized for saying on Facebook that Louisiana leaders should be lynched for taking down confederate monuments. It remains to be seen where the statues will go, but it’s possible they could leave the state. Courtney Carter with News Mississippi says there’s been talk of rehoming them at the Beauvoir estate there.

The estate is already home to many confederate-era memorials.

A Sunday morning crash in Kentwood left two teens dead. Police Chief Michael Kazerooni says 18-year-old Ashley Moreau overcorrected on the road and slid into a tree.

Her passenger, 18-year-old John Moore, was also killed in the crash.

Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle has been chosen to head the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement in the Trump Administration. UL-Lafayette political science professor Pearson Cross says this will give Angelle national name recognition after a disappointing loss in the gubernatorial and congressional elections.

Angelle will have to resign from the PSC, as he begins his new position on Tuesday.

It’s been reported that Vice President Mike Pence will visit Baton Rouge on Wednesday. The visit comes just as President Donald Trump releases the proposed budget. The governor also opposes the bill. Foil has said upping the GPA requirement would save around $12 million, which has been a big issue as lawmakers struggle to fully fund the taxpayer-funded program. Pinsonat says while lawmakers struggle to fully fund TOPS, many of them will say raising the GPA requirement isn’t the answer.
