It’s just not the LSU men’s basketball team’s year by any stretch. Even though the Tigers led by double digits in the second half, Ole Miss rallied to get the eventual 96-76 win in Oxford. With 16:25 to play, LSU was outscored 52-21 from that point. This 12-game losing streak for the Tigers ties for the third longest in program history.

Tonight the Tulane men’s basketball team takes on No. 19 SMU in Dallas. SMU is riding an eight-game winning streak.

The Pelicans will play their final game before the All Star weekend in New Orleans; tonight on the road against Memphis. During the events this weekend, the Pels will enjoy the longest stretch of downtime all season — with the exception of Anthony Davis and Buddy Hield who are taking part in All-Star activities.

Former LSU quarterback transfer Brandon Harris and North Carolina reportedly have mutual interest.

Former Saints Special Teams coordinator Greg McMahon is joining the LSU football team’s support staff in a similar role he was in New Orleans, according to reports. McMahon was one of several assistants fired by Sean Payton after last season.

The SEC made it official on Tuesday that LSU’s Spring game will begin at 7pm on April 22nd. It will air on the SEC Network.

Nicholls State baseball announces that each year, one senior will wear the No. 11 to honor the late Colonel and MLB great Darryl Hamilton – who was killed in an apparent murder-suicide in the summer of 2015. They say this season, it will be worn by outfielder Justin Holt.

Former Saints wide receiver Robert Meachem will spend the next month in the Jefferson Parish jail after a judge determined he’s at fault for not paying almost 400-thousand dollars in child support and alimony. The judge says if Meachem can come up with 100-thousand dollars, he’ll get out of jail sooner.

A new show airs tonight on Investigation Discovery called Murder Chose Me that highlights the murder cases of a former Shreveport Police detective. Rod Demery’s says the show is centered around many of the homicide cases he worked in his 17 years with Shreveport PD but also some elements are woven in about why he became a detective.

Demery also attributes becoming a detective to his brother being convicted of murder when he was in his 20s. Demery says every one of the homicide cases featured in the show have been solved. He hopes that Murder Chose Me will humanize what goes on after a murder.

Murder Chose Me premieres tonight at 9 p.m. central time on ID. Demery says an actor reenacts how he solved different cases while he is the narrator. He says the show has been a therapeutic experience for him, knowing he can share his stories to help other people.

Two separate resolutions have been filed regarding Napoleonville Senator Troy Brown, one that seeks to suspend him and another seeking his expulsion after two different domestic abuse convictions. Senate Secretary Glenn Koepp says the first hearing on this matter is this morning at 10 and the entire Senate is invited to participate, minus Brown.

Koepp says it’s imperative they provide due process for Brown. He says that’s why on Monday, the entire Senate will meet for another hearing, where Brown will have a chance to make his case against punishment.

Baton Rouge Senator Yvonne Dorsey’s resolution calls for Brown to be fined 25-hundred dollars or suspended for six weeks, while competing resolution filed by two other senators would expel him. It will take 26 of the 39 senators to agree to final resolution. Koepp says a vote could happen on one of the two resolutions on Monday when it goes to the Senate floor.

The bill moved out of the Senate Finance Committee after lawmakers spend much of the day behind closed doors debating how to resolve a $304 million midyear budget deficit. Senate President John Alario says using the fund would reduce the cuts to state agencies, but some republican lawmakers are reluctant to tap into the state’s savings account. The debate is expected to continue on Wednesday.

Baton Rouge Judge Mike Erwin denies he used racial slurs towards a black woman at the local restaurant Sammy’s Grill. The alleged incident led to Erwin being banned from all of Sammy’s establishments. In a statement, Erwin says he never has and never will utter the language he’s accused of saying. Erwin also says the police report did not find a single witness who heard him use the n-word that night.

Last night, the Ragin Cajuns ended a four-game losing streak with an 87-61 win over South Alabama. Bryce Washington recorded his 19th double-double of the season and Jay Wright eclipsed the 1,000 point mark for his career as he had eight points.

Also last night, Troy topped ULM 73-72 in overtime. Southern knocked off Mississippi Valley State 81-72. Grambling upended Prairie View 61-58.

The Pelicans are off tonight after their win over the Suns. They visit Memphis tomorrow, their final game before the All-Star Break.

South Louisiana faces the chance of more severe weather this afternoon into tonight. State climatologist Barry Keim says a strong line of storms are moving from Texas and once they push through, there will be a slight drop in temperature, but not extreme. He says despite it being winter, if feels more like spring in the Bayou State.

Former Executive Director of the Webster Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau Lynn Doresy is taking legal action for being terminated after accidentally posting a naked video to CVB’s Instagram. Two Florida residents have been arrested after repeatedly swiping several access cards to buy large amounts of gift cards at Lowe’s in Baton Rouge. Sgt. L’ Jean McKneely says 36-year-old Jayson Carter and 17-year-old Mardasia Harris are charged with multiple counts of fraud and theft. He says authorities believe they are part of a ring.

South Louisiana could face the possibility of more severe weather this afternoon and into tonight. State climatologist Barry Keim says the radar shows a strong line of storms moving in from Texas.

Keim says the Storm Prediction Center has much of south Louisiana under a slight risk for severe weather, and central Louisiana is facing a marginal risk. He says this event doesn’t look quite as severe as what we saw last week, but as we saw then, things can change quickly.

Keim says once the storm pushes through, there will be a slight drop in temperatures, but nothing like the freeze we saw last month. He says despite it still technically being winter, the weather feels more like spring in the Bayou State.

Dorsey’s attorney, Lydia Rhodes, says they plan to go to court and make a case for a breach of contract.

Lawmakers have been meeting behind closed doors today working to determine how much of the Rainy Day Fund should be used to help offset the state’s 304 million dollar budget deficit. Gov. Edwards says without the use 119 million dollars of the fund the state will face extreme cuts to higher education, public schools, and social services. But Republicans lawmakers are hesitant to tap into that savings.

This morning the Edwards Administration met behind closed doors with leaders at the Capitol to negotiate the use of the rainy day fund as a way to close the $304 million dollar budget gap.

The Baton Rouge judge who is accused of making a racist statement to an African-American woman at a popular restaurant has released a statement. Judge Mike Erwin said media reports about what happened are not consistent with the facts. The EBR Sheriff’s Office released a report indicating no witnesses heard Erwin make the remarks. The woman is taking legal action.

A bad storm system is moving into Louisiana from Texas, and State Climatologist Barry Keim says central and south Louisiana could be in for more severe weather. He says this event doesn’t look quite as severe as what we saw last week, but as we saw then, things can change quickly…:

StopLouisianaWaste.com is a new website aimed to reduce wasteful spending in state government. Covington Rep. John Schroder says given the budget problems, legislators need to make sure they’re spending taxpayer money wisely.

And there are multiple reports that say former Saints special teams coordinator Greg McMahon has joined LSU’s staff as a special teams analyst and could become the special teams coordinator next month when the NCAA allows teams to have 10 full-time assistants.
