NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Saints Coach Sean Payton has met with former Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel as Johnny Football looks to get back in the league after his poor choices away from the football field led to his release by the Cleveland Browns. ESPN’s Mike Triplett says there are no indications the Saints are planning to sign him.

The Saints have re-signed Darryl Tapp. The 32-year-old defensive end had 17 tackles last season.

Former LSU Tiger Ricky Jean Francois has signed a one-year deal with the Green Bay Packers. This will be Francois’ fourth team. He had a career-high 32 tackles with Washington last season.

Former Louisiana Tech standout Quinton Patton has signed with the Jets. He caught 40 passes during four seasons in San Francisco.

LSU third baseman Josh Smith went four for four with four runs driven in as the Tigers trounced Southeastern Louisiana eight to two last night. The Bayou Bengals left today for a three-game series against Florida. Game one in Gainesillve is tomorrow night at 6 PM.

Will Wade is settling in as the new men’s basketball coach for the LSU Tigers. One of the first things on his to-do list is to speak with Antonio Blakeney. The Tigers leading scorer could leave college early and enter the NBA draft. Wade says he looks forward to having that discussion with Blakeney…

Three people and a police K9 are dead following an officer involved shooting in Crowley that also left the officer wounded. Master Trooper Brooks David says they received a call that an officer was shot around 10:30 last night. He says when troopers arrived, it was a gruesome scene.

The identities of the victims have not been released, but authorities say a woman was dead when they arrived on scene. A male suspect then reportedly shot and killed the K9 before he was fatally shot by police. David says the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities say another female victim was discovered when detectives came back to question witnesses. David says the wounded officer is in stable condition, but it’s a tragedy the K9 was killed.

The Walker Police Sergeant accused of hanging a noose in the squad room has resigned. Capt. John Sharp says the resignation comes ahead of the city council meeting where the allegations against the officer would be discussed.

The noose was discovered hanging in the squad room with a cookie tied to it on February 24, and the sergeant was later suspended for three days without pay. Sharp says the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. He says it will be up to the Livingston Parish District Attorney to decide whether or not to file criminal charges.

Sharp says the sergeant has been with the department for a long time. He says they hate to lose a good officer over a lapse in judgement, but this accusation could cast the department in a bad light if no action was taken. He says this resignation was best for the department.

Authorities in Rapides Parish are investigating two break ins this morning at Tioga High School and Tioga Jr. High where extensive damage was done to school property. Capt. Tommy Carnline with the Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a call at around 5:15 this morning when a janitor reported the destruction…

The report indicates two suspects entered the school between 1 and 3 am. Carnline says they are following up on leads but no arrests have been made at this time and encourages anyone with information to come forward. He says investigators believe the break ins are connected.

Anderson was investigating a reported rape of a teenager and went to a barber shop to talk with 30-year-old Brandon Wiley. Authorities say Anderson and Wiley exchanged gunfire, killing both men.

Lt. Shawn Anderson, the fallen East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputy, is being taken to his final resting place. During his eulogy, his wife Becky Anderson talked about the day they met and how the Lieutenant loved his job and coworkers.

A learning center in St. Tammany Parish has had their licenses revoked and public funding terminated after a toddler escaped the play yard and wandered into traffic. The child got three blocks away from Kidzone Preschool in Mandeville before a concerned driver took him back to the day care. Until that moment, no one at the center knew the 3-year-old was missing.

Services for slain East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Sgt. Shawn Anderson is being held in Baton Rouge at this hour, and a massive procession in his honor will follow. Anderson was shot and killed while conducting an investigation at a barber shop last weekend. He will be laid to rest following the funeral in Pine Grove, Louisiana.

The Saints have added linebacker Manti Te’o to their roster. Te’o starred at Notre Dame and was a runner-up for the 2012 Heisman Trophy. He was drafted by the Chargers in the second round and appeared in 38 games in four seasons. NFL analyst Mike Detillier says the Saints new linebackers coach Mike Nolan, was an assistant in San Diego and coached Te’o in 2015….

The Baton Rouge man accused of killing and dismembering his parents has been indicted by a grand jury in Knoxville. 28-year-old Joel Guy Jr is accused of murdering his mom and dad then trying to dissolve the bodies in acid during a Thanksgiving visit in Tennessee last year. He will be tried there on two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of abusing a corpse, and one count felony murder.

Three people are dead in an officer involved shooting in Crowley. The officer was also shot and is said to be in stable condition. Police responded to shots fired at 10:30 last night and the deceased victims are reportedly two women and one man. The third body was discovered when detectives went to question someone following the shooting last night.
