The LSU baseball team found out why Oregon State is 56-4 on the season. The Tigers made too many mistakes to keep up with the Beavers in a 13-1 loss to the top seeded team in the College World Series. LSU walked 12 batters, made a few mistakes in the field and could only manage four hits at the plate. Starting pitcher Eric Walker left the game in the third inning with forearm soreness in his throwing arm. Coach Paul Mainieri says that was the turning point of the game….

LSU will face Florida State on Wednesday night. The Tigers will need to beat F-S-U again to stay alive, if they do, they get Oregon State on Friday afternoon.

The LSU football team has received a commitment from Southern Lab running back Tyrion Davis. He is the seventh verbal pledge for the class of 2019. Davis is six-foot-one, 212-pounds and rushed for 12-hundred yards last season as a sophomore to help the Kittens win the Division Four state championship.

The Saints have announced they signed free agent center Chris Watt. Watt was a third round pick for the San Diego Charger in 17 games and has made eight starts during his career. He missed all of last season with a knee injury.

Elbert Robinson’s basketball career at LSU is done as he’s leaving the team because of medical reasons. The seven-foot-one, 300 pounder will remain at LSU as he’s set to graduate next year.

Former Barbe star Gavin Cecchini hit his first major league home run last night and he did it off Clayton Kershaw. The Dodgers Ace gave up four home runs but L-A still beat the Mets 10 to 6.

Potential tropical storm three could drop a foot in southeast Louisiana. State climatologist Barry Keim says the system is expected to make landfall as a tropical storm near the Texas-Louisiana border late Wednesday or early Thursday morning, but the largest rain totals will occur to the east of the storm’s center…:

Heavy rain is a major concern as potential tropical cyclone three continues to develop and move towards Louisiana. Ragin’ Cajuns baseball player Jam Williams officially joined the UL-Lafayette football team on Monday. Williams becomes the fifth dual-sport athlete for the Ragin’ Cajuns in the past four years.

A wrestler from Airline High School in Bossier City is the 16-year-old that was murdered on Father’s Day, according to reports. Cops say an ongoing dispute is likely what lead to the death of Jamarcus Gay who had competed in the LHSAA Wrestling Championships in February. 19-year-old Phillip Woods of Springhill is charged with second degree murder in the incident.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries cited two men for allegedly selling red snapper illegally in Terrebonne Parish, which agents say also lead to drug charges. They say the men did not have a commercial wholesale dealer’s license, and drugs and pot were found on their boat.

He says 6 new breweries opened last year, and even more are in the planning stage.

Koch says lawmakers have already targeted the industry. A proposal in this year’s legislative session would have ended trademarked university beers, like the ones at UL-Lafayette and LSU. He says they didn’t like some of the comments made during testimony on the bill.

Koch says this bill also would have caused two local breweries to lose out on sales. He hopes the state will create more incentive programs for craft breweries, which have huge economic impacts on their communities. He says one specific change they’d like is the option for self-distribution.

State officials are preparing for potential flooding as a strong storm moves towards the southwestern coast of Louisiana. Mike Steele with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness says the National Weather Service is calling for three to six inches of rain across much of the state, with some areas a foot of rain.

Steele encourages the public to prepare for the coming storm now.

Governor John Bel Edwards says there’s no guarantee he will call a special session to address the fiscal cliff, when temporary taxes are set to expire in 2018. Edwards says the options before the legislature won’t be any different than they were this year.

Edwards remains skeptical a special session would be any more effective than this year’s disappointing fiscal session.

It was three years ago today, Jefferson Parish Congressman Steve Scalise was elected US House Majority Whip. Political analyst Clancy Dubos says Scalise says both parties and the national media view Scalise as a rising political star.

Scalise continues to recover from a gunshot wound incurred at a Virginia shootout on members of congress.

Louisiana needs to improve the way it serves older adults and those with disabilities, according to a scorecard from AARP. Advocacy Director for AARP Louisiana, Andrew Muhl, says Louisiana has an unbalanced long term care system because Medicaid dollars tend to go towards nursing homes when many older adults want to stay at home with help from family and friends.
