Forecasters says there’s an excellent chance the remnants of Tropical Storm Harvey will reform in the Gulf of Mexico and head towards the Texas coast this week. State Climatologist Barry Keim says the disturbance fizzled out last week in the Caribbean, but should re-generate in the western Gulf.:

Former LSU baseball outfielder Leon Landry has been added to Paul Mainieri’s coaching staff. Landry is listed as an undergraduate assistant coach. He was known for stellar catches in the outfield and was a member of the 2009 national championship team.

Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler says she wants to move forward with plans to build a 100-million dollar sports events center that could be the future home of the Pelicans minor league team. The complex is also expected to feature retail stores and professional offices, while seating three-thousand individuals for a sporting event.

LSU’s new mascot, Mike VII, appears to be right at home and loving his new habitat on campus since being introduced Monday. Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center are keeping a close eye on the remnants of Tropical Storm Harvey as the disturbance could redevelop into a tropical depression over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday or Thursday. It’s unclear what impacts Louisiana might feel if a northern forecast trend continues.

Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton says a 7-year-old boy who shot his aunt two times for not feeding him will not be charged with a crime. Ruston Police are searching for a 38-year-old man who fatally shot one person . Frank Jauron Stringfellow of Ruston is considered armed and dangerous and has a lengthy criminal history. The shooting occurred early this morning on Cotton Avenue. 35-year-old Shakena Hampton was killed and two others received non-life threatening injuries in the shooting, including a one-year-old child.

The Shreveport Police Department says all suspects wanted in the rape case involving the rapper Mystikal are now in custody. His real name is Michael Tyler, 46 of Prairieville. He and another man are charged with one count of first degree rape stemming from the October 2016 incident. Tenichia Wafford surrendered yesterday on a one count of accessory after the fact to first degree rape charge.

Apparently the child has behavior problems and his mother had already given up custody.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Metairie is telling his colleagues that he will wait until his doctors give him the okay, before he returns to the Capitol. A spokesperson for the Republican lawmaker says Scalise was on a conference call with GOP legislators to discuss spending bills on Monday. Scalise was shot in June in the hip and is undergoing inpatient rehabilitation, after undergoing several surgeries.

Wildlife and Fisheries agents in Calcasieu Parish have arrested a man in the fatal boating incident Sunday that killed an 8-year-old boy. Agents say that 35-year-old Eddie Dunwoody of Texas was operating a 19-foot bass boat and was impaired when he crashed the vessel. A child occupant sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
