Baton Rouge Police are looking for a man from Ponchatoula accused of shooting and killing a 19-year-old woman. They say 20-year-old James Seymore is believed to have been playing with a hand gun in the back of a vehicle when it went off on accident and struck the victim, Briana Hornsby while she was driving. Seymore fled on foot and remains at large. Hornsby died from her injuries.

Opelousas Police say a man has been arrested in connection to the attack of an elderly man in a road rage incident. The 78-year-old broke his arm as the suspect beat him with the victim’s own cane. That’s according to Opelousas Chief Donald Thompson who says they would have never identified Joshua Babineaux if it weren’t for the help from the public…:

State Officials are urging residents to be aware and get ready for Harvey. The storm re-formed into a tropical depression overnight and is expected to hit Texas in the Corpus Christi area on Friday. Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Director Jim Waskom says once Harvey gets to the coast, who knows what it will do…:

Forecasters says six to 12 inches of rain is possible over much of the state.

The state has been trying to get college students to fill out of a survey that deals with violence and sexual assault, but findings released to the Louisiana Board of Regents today indicated the response rate in the spring was only 3.5 percent. The board felt that with so few students participating, there might be an unfair perception of college campus climate so the recommendation was made to change the survey.

Southern Lab High School will have to vacate its 2016 and 2015 state championship football titles, plus its runner-up trophy in 2014 after it was learned the Baton Rouge school violated the LHSAA’s recruiting rules. The school has been banned from postseason play for the next two years and their head coach, former LSU quarterback Marcus Randall, has been fired and suspended by the LHSAA for one year.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting an elderly man in Opelousas in a road rage incident. Police Chief Donald Thompson says they arrested Joshua Babineaux this morning after the public recognized him from surveillance video released to the media. He says the attack happened after the 72-year-old victim supposedly cut off Babineaux and they pulled over…

Thompson says the victim recently underwent surgery for his injures and is recovering. He says this elderly man posed no threat to Babineaux.

A Ruston man has been arrested in the murder of a 35-year-old woman and the shooting of two others, including a one-year-old child. Chief Deputy Clint Williams says when police responded to the scene early Tuesday, Shakena Hampton was dead and two others were wounded.
