Zachary Wilson has a time sensitive medical condition that needs to be treated, but authorities in the sovereign nation caught him with hunting ammunition and took him into custody. Johnson says they need to ensure Wilson’s safe return from Guatemala:

The LSU Basketball team has verbal pledge from 5-star recruit Naz Reid. He’s out of New Jersey and is regarded as the No. 15 overall prospect in the 2018 class.

Harold Kim is the executive vice president of the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform. He says the survey found that 85% of company attorneys said a state’s lawsuit climate is likely to impact decision making:

Wilson’s family says it is extremely difficult to ship his medication to Guatemala and he is running out of his prescription. Johnson says they understand Guatemala is a sovereign nation and respect the rule of law but the charges brought against Wilson are not justified.

Ulcerative colitis is a condition that can be life threatening if left untreated. Johnson says he and Senator Cassidy are committed to this time sensitive matter and will continue to work with the Guatemalan government to ensure Wilson’s return.

Kim says the areas Louisiana ranked poorly were the in the competence and impartiality of its judges, the fairness of its juries and quality of appellate review. Kim says the poll of more than 1300 attorneys or leaders in companies also asked what they thought the worst jurisdictions were in the US:

A number of renovations to dormitories on the main campus have made NSU more appealing to students. Maggio says they have worked hard over the last few years to improve their strategic vision at the university. He says also partnering with business and industry has helped to boost enrollment.

The Edwards Administration gives the private operator of two state owned north Louisiana hospitals, BRF,45 days to correct alleged violations of a contract. Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne says the state spoke with Ochsner Health System, which could help BRF run the hospitals…

The Edwards administration has started the legal process to remove BRF as the operator of the state’s safety net hospitals in Monroe and Shreveport. Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne says a letter has been sent to BRF that gives them 45 days to correct various problems….

Hundreds of cancer patients and survivors were in Washington D.C. today to urge Congress to help with the fight against cancer. Louisiana resident Amber Stevens says they are urging lawmakers to support palliative care and hospice education training…:

Recovery continues in Calcasieu Parish after Tropical Storm Harvey left major flood damage in some areas. OEP Director Dick Gremillion says in the days before the storm made landfall in Calcasieu, a torrential downpour left nearly 500 houses with some water inside. He says flooding also occurred when the Sabine River came out of its banks…:

Gremillion says they are still waiting to find out if Calcasieu flood victims will be available for federal assistance.

The state might get out of its contract with BRF, which operates state owned hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe. Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne says BRF is violating the contract that’s currently in place and they have 45 days to correct the problems…
