Police reports say the LSU fraternity pledge who died last month may have been forced to drink an excessive amount of alcohol as part of an initiation ritual called “Bible Study.” Phi Delta Theta pledges who gave incorrect answers to questions about the frat were forced to drink. Officials believe 18-year-old Maxwell Gruver’s death is a possible hazing incident. Preliminary autopsy reports showed Gruver likely died from alcohol poisoning, but toxicology tests won’t be complete for a couple of weeks.

Southeastern Louisiana announces they’ve got new scholarships available designed to attract high performing students. Those with an ACT score of 30 or greater could receive 7-thousand dollars. Senior Director of University Marketing Mike Rivault says this along with the Southeastern Promise gives students a great value for a great education:

Forecasters are watching a disturbance over the extreme southwestern part of the Caribbean Sea that is now Tropical Depression No. 16, according to the National Hurricane Center. They say the system should move into the Gulf of Mexico by Saturday, but there is a lot of uncertainty at this point, but it’s definitely worth watching.

Greenhouse pleaded guilty Friday in Avoyelles Parish to negligent homicide and malfeasance in office to avoid trial. According to the deal, he will be sentenced to 5 years on the negligent homicide charge and 2.5 years for malfeasance to run consecutively.
