Legendary LSU and NFL Quarterback Y-A Tittle has passed away at the age of 90. Tittle played in one of the strangest bowl games, the 1947 Cotton Bowl which L-S-U and Arkansas played in a snowstorm to a scoreless tie. In a 2008 interview with Jim Engster, Tittle talked about the “Ice Bowl”…:

Another person has been fatally shot in East Feliciana Parish. The latest is a well known member of the boy scouts, 48-year-old Brad DeFrancheschi. Three other middle aged white men have been killed since July in a similar, drive by shooting manner. East Feliciana Chief Criminal Deputy Greg Phares says they are aware many residents in the area are concerned:

Lindsay Lohan has suggested on Twitter than she plans to hire a lawyer against Louisiana Senator John Kennedy who suggested last week that giving Equifax a $7.3 million dollar contract to protect the IRS from fraud is like giving minibar keys to the actress. Equifax is under fire after a data breach affected millions, and the comments were made during a Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee.

A well-known member of the Boy Scouts, 48-year-old Brad DeFrancheschi, was killed Monday in a drive-by shooting in Clinton. East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Jeffery Travis says three other middle aged white men have been killed since July in a similar manner and they are receiving assistance from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office to solve these murders:

Police are looking for a white four door sedan with tinted windows.

The Advocate is reporting that former LSU Head Coach Les Miles will return to Tiger Stadium this Saturday afternoon at the Auburn game to take part in the 10-year-anniversary celebration for the 2007 Championship team. The Mad Hatter said he will join players from the ’07 team during a reunion on the field during halftime. It will be Miles’ first time returning to Death Valley since his firing last season.

Iberville Parish leaders will discuss a proposed law on October 17th that would prevent an individual from damaging or defacing the nation’s or the state’s flag. Councilman Matthew Jewell says last Veterans Day, a group of people ripped down and burned an American flag. He says the veterans were extremely upset about it so he decided to take action…:

He doesn’t expect any push back from passing the ordinance.

East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Tullier, who was shot last July during a police ambush, was transferred from a Houston rehabilitation hospital to The Transitional Learning Center in Galveston, Texas. The move to the new facility marks a major step in Nick’s recovery.

Another person has been fatality shot in East Feliciana Parish.  The latest victim is Brad DeFranceschi, who is a well known member of the Boy Scout Community.  DeFranceschi was found dead in the back of his property on Highway 63 southeast of Clinton.  Authorities describe the crime as a drive by shooting.  He’s the fourth shooting victim in this area since July and all of them have been middle aged white men.

Secretary of State Tom Schedler predicts a voter turnout below 20-percent.

With the formation of Tropical Storm Ophelia in the Atlantic Ocean, there have now been 15 named storms during this extremely active Atlantic hurricane season. State Climatologist Barry Keim says Hurricane Nate was one of fastest storms to ever cross the Gulf of Mexico at 25-miles-per-hour.

This is the sixth most active hurricane season since 2012.

 

A truck driver was killed after losing control of his vehicle on I-10 at the Butte La Rose exit in St. Martin Parish this morning. Louisiana State Police Master Trooper Brooks David says the accident closed part I-10 eastbound while crews inspected the bridge.

I-10 is now reopened.

East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Tullier who was shot last July during a police ambush, was transferred today from a Houston rehabilitation hospital to The Transitional Learning Center in Galveston, Texas. This is progress for Tullier as he no longer needs intensive medical care.

There have been three landfalls of named storms on Louisiana’s coast line. Tropical Storm Cindy in June, Hurricane Harvey in August and Hurricane Nate crossed over Plaquemines Parish on Saturday. Keim says Nate didn’t do much damage in Louisiana, but it was one of fastest storms to ever cross the Gulf of Mexico at 25-miles-per-hour.
