LSU Outfielder Chris Stanfield was honored Friday as the first recipient of the Tony Gwynn Community Service Trophy. Stanfield thanked his parents and said to be mentioned along with Tony Gwynn was truly an honor. Stanfield launched the “Be The 1” campaign and for every extra-base or stolen base he had, he donated $100 to the Miracle League in Baton Rouge. Before transferring to LSU, Stanfield raised $10,000 for te Miracle League of East Alabama.

Manslaughter charges have been dismissed against Andrew Camp who was accused of fatally shooting his 51-year-old father Chad Camp at their home in 2023. Legal Analyst Franz Borghardt says it’s a very complicated case involving child endangerment by Jessica Shea

Andrew was 17-years-old at the time of the shooting. Shea allegedly gave Andrew alcohol that night, with toxicology reports showing he was nearly unconscious from intoxication.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in New Orleans says There are no immediate plans to release Mahmoud Khalil from the Central Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Jena despite release orders from a federal judge. The Trump Administration is seeking to deport Khalil, saying his presence compromises a compelling foreign policy interest. Khalil, a pro-Palestinian protestor and Columbia University graduate student was arrested in New York in March and sent to the facility in Jena.

A state judge has dismissed a manslaughter charge against Andrew Camp who was accused of fatally shooting his 51-year-old father Chad Camp at their home in 2023. Andrew Camp was 17-years-old at the time of the shooting. Legal Analyst Franz Borghardt says Winn Parish District Attorney Chris Nevils cited the ethical obligation not to prosecute cases lacking evidence beyond a reasonable doubt.…

Borghardt says charges remain against Jessica Shea, arrested for obstruction of justice and contributing to juvenile delinquency. Shea allegedly gave Andrew alcohol that night, with toxicology reports showing he was nearly unconscious from intoxication.

Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill issued a cease-and-desist letter to CVS over text messages the drug-store chain company sent to customers about House Bill 358, which would ban pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) from owning pharmacies in the state.  Murrill says people didn’t sign up for this…

CVS Health, a major PBM, warned in the texts that the bill could force over 100 CVS locations in Louisiana to close, potentially increasing medication costs and causing job losses. Murrill accused CVS of sending unsolicited, politically motivated messages using sensitive personal data, calling the texts deceptive and inaccurate.

Murrill argued the company violated Louisiana law by misusing customer information for lobbying. The House passed HB 358 on Wednesday, sparking controversy.

Attorney General Liz Murrill is hailing the passage of House Bill 675. That’s the bill by Slidell Republican Brian Glorioso that speeds up the post-conviction relief process in which inmates seek to have their sentences shortened or overturned.  While its main focus is on death penalty cases, Murrill says Glorioso’s bill also ends the process of drawing out the appeals process for years and even decades.

Many are waiting to see if Mahmound Khalil will be released from the Central Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Jena. A federal judge has ordered for the release of the pro-Palestinian activist. The Trump Administration is seeking to deport Khalil, claiming his presence compromises a compelling foreign policy interest. Khalil, who is a green card holder, says his free speech rights have been eroded by the Trump administration.

But the governor did not get everything he wanted. The Louisiana Legislature allocated 50-million dollars less than what he was seeking for the LA Gator Scholarship Program.

And the Senate failed to act on a pharmacy benefits bill the governor said would lower prescription drug prices. CVS threatened to close its stores if the legislation was approved. Landry says he will call a special session to get the bill passed.

Another big move just an hour before the end of the session. The Senate killed a controversial bill that would have barred companies from owning both pharmacy benefits managers and pharmacies.  According to the Advocate, Senate President Cameron Henry said senators had concerns about how fast House Bill 358 was being considered. Governor Landry has said he will call the Legislature back for a special session to address the issue, though it’s unclear when he will issue that call.
