Saints left tackle Terron Armstead and safety Kenny Vaccaro did not practice today. Both players left last Sunday’s game with injuries and did not return. But right guard Larry Warford was back at practice today after missing the last two games with an abdominal strain.

Two people were injured and dozens have been evacuated off of a Shell platform about 115 miles of the Louisiana coast, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. Petty Officer Lexie Preston says a 54-year-old male suffered from flash burns and a concussion and a 29-year-old male suffered a sprained wrist and a concussion.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says a Covington woman is under arrest amid allegations she lied about an NFL referee physically abusing her. Lt. Brennan Matherne says 49-year-old Sandra Brooks told cops in June that her live in boyfriend, 57-year-old Carl Johnson Sr. of Thibodaux, was hitting her. He says Brooks sent police audio recordings…:

A 25-year-old man is in custody after he allegedly attacked a woman, who tried to help him as he was lying in a ditch near Oak Grove.  West Carroll Sheriff Jerry Philley says the victim was driving her children to school when she saw Christian Turnbow of Oak Grove lying in a roadside ditch and she called 911 before coming to the man’s aid…

Matherne says Brooks is also charged with defamation because she filed a report with Johnson’s employer, the NFL and also contacted a media outlet with these allegations. He says they take domestic abuse seriously but it is never acceptable to falsely report these incidents.

Police Chief Willie Robinson says they received a call from Rayville High School that a .30-06 magazine was found in the student’s backpack. He says the teenager was charged and released into the custody of his grandparents.

Robinson says the student was picked up once again and taken to Green Oaks Juvenile Detention Center in Monroe. He says the teenager gave police an excuse for why he had the gun and ammunition in his possession on school campus.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attacking a woman who tried to help him as he was lying in a ditch near Oak Grove. He says police arrived after one of her children called 911 to report the attack.

Rayville Police arrested a 14-year-old twice yesterday after allegedly bringing a handgun and rifle ammunition to school. Police Chief Willie Robinson says the teen was originally charged for possession of the ammo and released to his grandparents but then they got word of a handgun still at school. He says the teen was picked up again and gave police an excuse.

Brennan Matherne with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says 49-year-old Sandra Brooks’ charges include defamation because she also filed a report with the NFL against the victim. More than half of LSU’s 27 fraternities are in some kind of trouble for violating policy both before and after the death of LSU pledge Max Gruver. The punishments range from suspensions, being kicked off campus, on probation or letter of reprimand. The latest is an LSU letter sent to Alpha Gamma Rho saying they must stop all charter events because of an incident, “not in compliance with university policies.”

LSU is number 24 in the latest College Football rankings. Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame and Clemson are in the top four.

ULM will finish out the season playing Florida State. The two schools were set to meet on September 9th, but the game was postponed because of Hurricane Irma. The two teams will now play on December 2nd in Tallahassee at 11 AM.

The Pelicans beat the Pacers 117 to 112 last night. New Orleans is 6-and-5 on the season and its the franchise’s first winning record since April of 2015. Anthony Davis had 37 points last night, while Cousins had 32.

The Saints Justin Hardee has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Hardee blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown in New Orleans 30-10 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday. Coach Sean Payton credits Hardee’s technique for getting the block. New Orleans is at Buffalo this Sunday.

Former LSU Tiger Leonard Fournette says he’ll be on time this Sunday for the Jaguars game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Fournette was inactive for last week’s game against Cincinnati. Fournette used twitter to apologize for his tardiness.

In major league baseball…former LSU Tiger DJ LeMahieu has been awarded his second gold glove. LeMahieu had eight errors this past season, the fewest among all qualified second baseman.

And another former Tiger and now World Series champion Alex Bregman will be at Saturday’s LSU-Arkansas football game. Expect Bregman to get a loud ovation when introduced to the Tiger Stadium crowd.

Two people were injured after an oil platform caught on fire early this morning.  The Enchilada platform is located near Garden Banks, about 115 miles south of Vermillion Bay.  46 workers were evacuated.  Officials say the injured were taken to a Houston hospital.  The Coast Guard reports there are no oil spills.

Emerge Louisiana is a new group that will train female Democrats on how to run a successful campaign for political office. Executive Director Melanie Oubre says after graduating from the six month training, they will be provided with a network of support locally and nationally.
