State Police is reminding holiday travelers that buzzed driving is drunk driving. Sgt. James Anderson says troopers will be out in full force under the Zero Deaths for the Holidays campaign to put an end to drunk driving.

An executive order to help in rebuilding efforts with the implementation of a uniform building code after the 2016 floods in Louisiana may be rescinded.   Governor Edwards issued a year long delay to implement the code which details building code standards.  The intent was to remove any bureaucratic roadblocks following the flood.  However, New Orleans alone lost out on 700-million-dollars in projects due to the delay.  The new rules would now into effect by the end of the year.

In Hawaii, LSU rallied from nine down to beat Michigan 77-75, freshman Tremont Waters had 21 points, while the Ragin Cajuns beat Iowa 80-71 in the Cayman Islands.

A Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office lieutenant has been suspended without pay indefinitely.  43-year-old Jeffery Villemaretee was arrested in New Orleans for allegedly entering his ex-girlfriend’s home without her permission and walking out with a TV.  He claims it belongs to him.  He will remain suspended pending a full investigation.

Lights started to be strung on August 3rd and Hanson and his family have been working nonstop since looping lights around trees and plywood cutouts of characters, even constructing two light tunnels over 100 feet each.  Hanson says this year is just a start and hopes to grow the attraction in the future…

Hanson says the attraction will be so bright, travelers along I-20 will be able to see it.  So how much electric does it take to power it?

Human remains have been found in Amite in Tangipaoha Parish.   A rabbit hunter made the discovery today.  Police believe they are the remains of a middle aged man.  The cause of death remains uncertain.  The investigation continues.

Today in Atlanta, the Georgia Dome was imploded after 25 years in existence.  The Mercedes Benz Superdome General Manager Alan Freeman says the New Orleans landmark is a viable building in a city that thrives on hosting major events with plans to make the facility even better.

Orthopedic specialists in the Bayou State are using a new post-surgical procedure to control pain and decrease the need for oral painkillers. Dr. Judson Penton from Louisiana Orthopedic Specialist in Lafayette says they are using a specially designed disposable pump to deliver medication that blocks pain only in the area of the surgery.

Payton did not provide an update today on injured cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who tried to return to the game yesterday with an injured ankle.

LSU football Coach Ed Orgeron says edge rusher Arden Key is questionable for Saturday’s regular season finale against Texas A-and-M. Key did not play in the win against Tennessee. Coach O also said today that he assumes Key and running back Derius Guice will forgo their senior seasons and enter the NFL draft.

It didn’t take long for Northwestern State to find a new head football coach after deciding not to renew Jay Thomas’ contract after five seasons. Brad Laird will reportedly be the next Demons head coach. He served as the school’s associate head coach and defensive coordinator last season. The 44-year-old played quarterback at Northwestern State from 1991 to 1995.

The Ragin Cajuns beat their first power five school since 2002 today as they defeated Iowa 80-71 in the opening game of the inaugural Cayman Islands Classic. Frank Barltey the fourth led the Cajuns with 17 points.

General Manager of the Dome Alan Freeman credits their success to the great relationship they have with the New Orleans Saints. A Shreveport man and two others are dead after a medical helicopter crashed in eastern Arkansas last night. 26-year-old John Auld III was on the flight that went down about 60 miles southeast of Little Rock. The helicopter was flying from Pine Bluff to DeWitt. Auld was a member of the Krewe of Centaur.
