LSU Public Health Climatologist Barry Keim says dewpoint temperatures are between 20 and 30 degrees, which are leading to relative humidity levels of between 20 and 30 percent.

Baton Rouge Police have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a hospital worker who was gunned down after leaving work. Lieutenant L’Jean McKneely says 60-year-old Roland Domino shot 58-year-old Patricia Jackson in the parking lot outside of Our Lady of the Lake Hospital yesterday afternoon. McKneely says this is a domestic violence incident…

A St. Tammany Parish School Teacher was arrested for allegedly paying students to send him sexually explicit photos. Lieutenant Suzanne Carboni says the investigation began last October.

Carboni says during their investigation detectives found even more sexually disturbing images in Harry’s possession.

Today, President Trump signed an executive order that starts the process of dissolving the U.S. Department of Education. Ultimately, doing so will require Congressional approval. The move has the support of House Majority Leader Steve Scalise. The Metairie representative says he favors moving control of education to the states.

LDWF Deer Wildlife Manager Jonthan Bordelon says knowing the disease has spread to another parish helps in their efforts to control the spread…

State Police is investigating an officer involved shooting involving the Alexandria Police Department last night. The person shot was taken to a local hospital. No officers were injured in the incident that took place on Willow Glen Street at Third Street.

The deadline to get the REAL ID so you can fly domestically without the need of a passport is May seventh.  Matt Boudreaux with the Office of Motor Vehicles says to help people meet that deadline, the OMV is opening select offices on select Saturdays so that people won’t have to take time off work. Last Saturday was the first of what was originally going to be three Saturdays; and it was such a hit that they’re adding another Saturday this week.

Three OMV offices will be open in the New Orleans area, along with Bossier. Monroe, Shreveport and Winnsboro OMV field offices.

The Secretary of State’s Office says the number of early votes cast for the March 29th election has reached 100-thousand. Joel Watson with the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office says spring elections historically see lower turnout, but every voter has something on their ballot…

Two men are dead and a teenager is hospitalized following a triple shooting last night in the Village of Tangipahoa in Tangipahoa Parish. Law enforcement received a call just before six PM about multiple people shot outside of a mobile home. Investigators believe the community is safe and there are no suspects being sought at this time.

Baton Rouge police continue to look for the person responsible for fatally shooting an employee of Our Lady of the Lake in a parking lot across the street from the hospital. Authorities say the gunman waited for the victim to get off of work to shoot her in what’s described as a domestic incident. President of Our Lady of the Lake, Chuck Spicer, is heartbroken by this terrible act of violence…

The hospital was placed on lockdown for about 45 minutes after the shooting.

A case of Chronic Wasting Disease has been confirmed in a hunter-harvested white-tailed buck in Catahoula Parish. This is the first confirmed case outside of Tensas Parish since CWD was first detected in Louisiana in 2022. LDWF Deer Wildlife Manager Jonathan Bordelon says this brings the state’s total CWD detections to 36.

OMV spokesperson Matthew Boudreaux says when May 7th rolls around, you will not be able to use your driver’s license to confirm your identity at the TSA checkpoint unless it’s REAL ID compliant.

LSU has received a commitment from a five-star wide receiver from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Six-foot-three Tristen Keys selected the Tigers over Tennessee, Alabama and Texas A-and-M. He’s the seventh verbal commitment for the Class of 2026. According to 2-4-7 sports, Keys is the best wide receiver in the Class of 2026.

Southeastern Louisiana won its sixth in a row in baseball as the Lions defeated U-L Lafayette seven to one. Ben Robichaux, Ryan Brome and TJ Salvaggio each homered for the Lions who are 17-3. The Cajuns fall to 9-13.

The Pelicans pulled off an upset last night beating the Timberwolves in Minnesota 119 to 115. Zion Williamson had 29 points.

And the Southern women’s basketball team won its first NCAA Tournament game, beating U-C San Diego 68 to 56 in a First Four matchup. The Lady Jaguars will play top-seeded UCLA on Friday night.

Phil Cunningham takes over as the new men’s basketball coach at ULM. Cunningham was an assistant for the Warhawks last season and takes over for the retired Keith Richard (ree-SHARD). Cunningham says he plans to win right away at ULM…

A Washington Parish mother is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 8-month-old child. The infant suffered severe injuries, including broken bones. Franklinton Police Chief Justin Brown believes mental health issues with 24-year-old Autumn Harper played a significant role, and he hopes to prevent cases like this in the future.

Two reporters gave a minute-by-minute account of last night’s execution of Jessie Hoffman. One of them was WDSU-TV reporter Gina Swanson. She says she saw involuntary body movements a minute after the nitrogen gas started being administered.

The second ranked LSU baseball team improved to 21-and-1 on the season last night with an 11 to one win over New Orleans. Ethan Frey hit two home runs, including one that ended the game in the seventh inning because of the ten-run rule. The 21-and-1 mark represents LSU’s best record through 22 games since the 1986 team. The Tigers have also won 16 in a row, which is the longest streak for LSU since the 2017 College World Series team.

Louisiana Tech has won three of its last four after beating ULM six to two last night. The Bulldogs are at Sam Houston this weekend to begin Conference USA Play. Southeastern Louisiana puts its five-game winning streak on the line tonight when it hosts the Cajuns at 6 PM.

In women’s basketball, Southern takes on UC-San Diego in a 16-seed First Four NCAA Tournament matchup in Los Angeles. The winner takes on the tournament’s top overall seed, UCLA on Friday.

 

Multiple reports say McNeese men’s basketball coach Will Wade is moving on. Wade confirmed today he has spoken to North Carolina State about its head coaching vacancy and while he did not confirm he would be the next head coach of the Wolfpack, sources say it’s a done deal.
