The first medical pot is on track to be planted Friday after a successful meeting between the Ag Department, the LSU Ag Center, and GB Sciences, gave the green light for GB to start the process of growing the medicinal marijuana. It’s a temporary go ahead for GB, who provides the plants for LSU. Ag Commissioner Mike Strain says they had to survey the facility before giving the thumbs up.

A new report from the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Action Network has evaluated Louisiana in its fight against the disease.  Among the areas of concern, access to care, quality of life, and prevention.  ACS-CAN spokesperson Lance Barbour says the state’s medicaid expansion is a noteworthy highlight.

Two Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s Deputies are out of a job after fessing up to fooling around on the clock together. Former Deputies Chris Kimble and Tiffany Brister admitted to making plans and heading over to a Pointe Coupee General Hospital bathroom and working a little more than a shift. Sheriff Bud Torres says they received information about the July 30th encounter, and started investigating.

LSU and Clemson will play home and home games against each other starting in 2025 and 26. Both teams are nicknamed tigers and both teams play home games in stadiums known as Death Valley. The two teams have played each other three times, all in bowl games, Clemson leads the series 2-1.

New Orleans Saints defensive end Alex Okafor suffered a bone bruise in his knee and a sprained ankle during Wednesday’s practice, according to a source.
It’s unclear how long Okafor will be sidelined. But the prognosis — which was first reported by the NFL Network — is relatively good news for the sixth-year veteran, who is coming back from a torn Achilles.

Saints first round pick Marcus Davenport has missed most of the training camp so far with a nagging pulled groin. He returned to practice yesterday after missing the first pre-season game against Jacksonville. Coach Sean Peyton says Davenport is doing fine and is expected to get more playing time in practice. Peyton isn’t sure if Davenport will play tomorrow night against Arizona. He has not taken a snap in practice in two weeks. Tomorrow night’s game kicks off at 7p.m. at the Superdome.
