The Minnesota Vikings created a lot of heart ache for the Saints last season as they eliminated New Orleans from the playoffs. The Black and Gold get another crack at the Vikings this Sunday night. New Orleans won its fifth straight yesterday, a 24-23 come from behind win over the Ravens.

Despite throwing for 124 yards, ULM topped Texas State 20-14 for a homecoming win in Monroe on Saturday. Coach Matt Viator says the defense played great holding the Bobcats to 242 yards and limiting the visitors to just 2-of-13 on 3rd downs…

In other action on Saturday, Louisiana Tech topped UTEP 31-24. J’Mar Smith’s 43-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was the difference.

U-L Lafayette fell to Appalachian state 27-17. Alcorn State scored a touchdown with 12 seconds left to beat Grambling State 33-26.

In the Southland, McNeese, Northwestern State and Southeastern Louisiana lost.

The Bossier Parish School System says counselors and other support staff have been hard at work since the weekend helping families cope with the trauma associated with allegations that a teacher preyed on students. Psychologist Grady Bray says difficult conversations will be needed in the days ahead.

47-year-old Aubrey Norcross of Bossier City was arrested last week on charges of video voyeurism and rape involving two students at Benton.

Ag says they anticipate the first batch of medical marijuana will be tested around mid-November.

Two children are dead today following a late night mobile home fire in the Belle Chase area.  The call came in to the Belle Chase Volunteer Fire Department just before 10PM about the blaze on Hwy 23.  State Fire Marshal spokesperson, Ashley Rodrigue, says a total of five people were in the home at the time of the fire.

With flu season starting soon, the Louisiana Health Department has scheduled flu vaccine clinics around the state, including one today in Thibodaux. Louisiana immunization director Dr. Frank Welch says the flu vaccine clinics are a test run for a more serious health emergency.

Two children died and three others sustained injuries in a mobile home fire in Belle Chasse last night. The victims are reportedly nine and seven years old. A cause of the blaze has not been determined and the state fire marshal’s office says it appears the home did not have working smoke alarms.

Strain says GB will not be allowed to grow at a larger, primary facility until they complete a legislatively mandated start-up process that includes State Police background checks.

But the project has hit a new roadblock related to testing the pot to make sure it’s safe for consumption. Strain says a myriad of tests need to be run, but they’re having trouble finding a second lab to verify their own safety results.
