Two Denham Springs residents were found murdered at their pool company last night. 70-year-old Patricia Gurley and 72-year-old Frank Gurley, a retired Denham Springs teacher, were last seen alive around 4PM Monday. Police Chief Shannon Womack says he knew the Gurleys personally, and the news shocked him and the community.

Hahnville High School QB Andrew Robison has won his arbitration hearing against the LHSAA.  The victory means the senior is eligible to play in Friday’s regular-season finale.  He’ll also continue with a lawsuit against the governing body for damages. Back in August, the LHSAA ruled Robison ineligible for the year because they claimed he was illegally recruited from Vandebilt Catholic.  Robison’s Attorney David Moyer says there was no basis in law or fact for the LHSAA to rule the way they did.

Monroe Representative Jay Morris is publicly calling for U.S. Senator John Kennedy to jump into next year’s governor’s race against John Bel Edwards. Morris says it’s clear Kennedy would be Edwards most formidable challenger, and the best chance to get more GOP priorities passed into law.

Bad news for the Saints defense, as rookie defensive end Marcus Davenport is estimated to be out for the next month with a toe injury. It’s particularly bad timing for the athletic marvel, as he’s coming off his best game of the season, having sacked Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins twice in the 30-20 road victory. The pass rusher has really come on in the mid-season stretch, nabbing sacks in three of the last five games. Reports say he’s in a boot, and will be reevaluated near the end of November.

And the Pelicans hopes of stopping a two game losing streak with a win over perpetual champs Golden State have taken a hit as superstar big man Anthony Davis is questionable for tonight, having missed the last two losses after dominating the first three games of the season, which were all wins. The Warriors are coming off of an incredible performance Monday where they scored 92 points in the first half alone, and watched Guard Clay Thompson break the 3 pointer in a game record with 14, a record previously held by his teammate Steph Curry. That game kicks off at 930 tonight.

Governor Edwards met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today as part of his week long economic development mission. The governor’s office says today’s meeting should lead to trade and investment growth between Louisiana and Israel in oil and gas, the collaboration of water management research and Louisiana learning new methods to combat cyber security threats.

The New Orleans City Council is holding a special meeting this afternoon to discuss an independent report that has evidence of Entergy using paid actors to show up at a council meeting last year to show support for a new power plant in New Orleans East. It’s possible the city council can fine Entergy.

Police have identified the two victims of a double homicide as 70-year-old Patricia Gurly and 72-year-old Frank Gurly.  The bodies were found at a Denham Springs pool company Wednesday morning.  Law enforcement did not release the cause of death, but a spokesman for Denham Springs Police called it the most heinous crime in his career.  It is believed the persons responsible have left the state.

Monroe Representative Jay Morris is publicly calling for Senator John Kennedy to jump into the governor’s race against John Bel Edwards. Morris says he’s impressed after working with Kennedy in state government when the Senator held the Treasurer’s office and says he’s a potential candidate who would bring great administrative experience if he wins.

The first college football playoff rankings of the season were released last night and LSU is ranked third. Alabama is number one followed by Clemson. The one-loss Tigers are third and undefeated Notre Dame is ranked fourth. Michigan is number five.

The eyes of the football universe will be on south Louisiana this weekend as both LSU and the Saints play huge games with massive playoff implications. The Tiger/Tide matchup will kick off at 7 PM. Saints Coach Sean Payton says he’s glad his game will kick off at 3:25, since a lot of Black and Gold fans will probably consume an adult beverage or two on Saturday night and stay up late…

A DeRidder man allegedly rammed his car into his ex-wife’s house and then tried to kill her and the other occupants by dousing the vehicle in gasoline before running off. Deputy Chief Chris Rudy says the incident appeared to have started early that day with a confrontation between 49-year-old Ricky Calloway got into a confrontation at the ex’s house.
After that argument Calloway allegedly came back, hit the house, then drove the car next to his ex-wife’s bedroom, all the while screaming at other witnesses…

The French Settlement Chief of Police and his wife have both been arrested following a traffic stop on a marked police department vehicle.  The vehicle was being driven by Tammy Brignac, the wife of police chief Harry Brignac, who was driving on a suspended license.  The chief admitted to knowingly instructing his wife to drive, and has been charged with malfeasance in office.
