Eight District Attorneys in Louisiana has come out against the number two amendment on the November ballot, bucking a statewide bi-partisan trend in support of requiring unanimous jury verdicts in criminal trials. Tangipahoa and Livingston District Attorney Scott Perrilloux says he’s concerned it would delay justice for victims.

DAs in four of Louisiana’s largest Parishes, along with both Republican and Democratic state parties have come out in support of the initiative.

Wild weather passing through the bayou state brought significant damage to areas across Louisiana.  Among the areas impacted, Washington Parish Chief Deputy Mike Haley says two elderly men were injured when the mobile home they were in was turned over by the force of the winds.

A Department of Public Safety Police officer is out of a job and under arrest.  On Monday, Officer Chandler LeGrange reported his involvement in a pursuit and shots fired by a motorcyclist on Juban Road in Livingston Parish.  LSP Detectives looked into the case and found several inconsistencies with the officer’s report.  LSP spokesperson Lt. Manale says LeGrange was charged with Malfeasance in Office and Filing False Public Records.

A strong line of thunderstorms has left behind numerous downed power lines and trees. The storm also produced multiple tornadoes. In Washington Parish, two people were reportedly injured when strong winds flipped over their mobile home. There’s also tornado damage in Rapides and LaSalle Parishes.

Early voting ended yesterday and as of last night 307-thousand people voted in person or with a mail in ballot, which JMC Analytics pollster John Couvillon says is a record for a non-Presidential election. Couvillon says even though the Louisiana ballot lacks a marquee race, voters are aware of the November 6th election, because of hotly contested midterm elections across the country.

Hahnville High School QB Andrew Robison has won his arbitration hearing against the LHSAA.  The victory means the senior is eligible to play in Friday’s regular-season finale.  He’ll also continue with a lawsuit against the governing body for damages. Robison’s Attorney David Moyer says schools should not be afraid to challenge the LHSAA.

Two Denham Springs residents were found murdered at their pool company last night. 70-year-old Patricia Gurley and 72-year-old Frank Gurley, a retired Denham Springs teacher, were last seen alive around 4PM Monday. Police Chief Shannon Womack offered limited details, but says they suspect the murders were premeditated.
