At a gubernatorial candidate forum in New Orleans today, three candidates said that changes to the state tax structure and reworking the state construction budget is critical to deal with future budget short falls. Republicans Jay Dardenne, Scott Angelle and Democrat John Bel Edwards were in attendance, while the front runner David Vitter was in Washington for a Senate vote.

At least three lawmakers are urging Governor Bobby Jindal to veto legislation that would cap the state’s film tax credit at $180 million. New Orleans Representative Walt Leger says it would hurt the industry, and could create lawsuits based on who would and would not receive credits. If there is a veto, Leger says it won’t be that diificult to find the money to make it up….

Gas prices in Louisiana have been rising over the last month, as AAA says the current statewide average is $2.59 for a gallon of regular. Fuel Analyst Don Redman says, even though that’s a 17 cents increase in the last 30 days, last year at this time we were paying around $3.42 a gallon.
