A New Roads double homicide suspect is now accused for the shooting death of a Deputy U.S. Marshal in Scotlandville this morning. The suspect is 31 year-old James D. Croom. He was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound after the gunfight, while thirty year-old Deputy Marshal Josie Wells was also transported, but he later died.

On one hand, there’s a new General Social Survey out that shows a record-tieing low for gun ownership and for guns in the home. On the other, are FBI stats that show an increase in the number of background checks, which indicates an increase in sales.
