Twenty-three federal inmates from Louisiana had their federal drug sentences reduced in one of the last acts by Barack Obama as President. Three individuals had life sentences cut, like Benjam Blount of Oakdale and Eric German of Haughton. The mayor of Doyline, in Webster Parish, has resigned following his domestic violence arrest. Gary Carter was taken into custody last wekend and charged with Domestic Abuse with Strangulation. In a statement released through his attorney, Carter says he is embarassed and feels it’s best for everyone if he steps down.
West Monroe Police say a pizza delivery driver will not be charged after he fatally shot one of two men who attempted to rob him. Detective Ray Spoon says two suspects ordered a pizza to be delivered to an abandoned house and attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle.
