Shreveport Police say they’ve caught the man they believe is responsible for the shooting death of Officer Thomas LaValley last night. Chief Willie Shaw says the FBI announced a $25,000 reward was being offered to anyone who would help authorities find 27-year-old Grover Cannon. He said very strongly this morning they were making the search a top priority:

The letters and numbers on new Louisiana license plates are in a for a reshuffling. Officials say they’re are running out of combinations to use in the current configuration of three letters followed by three numbers. State Police Lt. JB Slaton says this will have no effect on current plates…

At a forum today sponsored by AARP Louisiana, Councils on Aging and The Louisiana Aging Network, three gubernatorial candidates say they want to create a cabinet-level department for elderly affairs. Republican Lt. Governor Jay Dardene says the oversight of elderly issues should be merged into the Department of Veteran Affairs; while Republican Scott Angelle and Democrat John Bel Edwards want to create a Department of Elderly Affairs, with a their own cabinet secretary.
