Louisiana Transportation Secretary Shawn Wilson says there’s growing support to increase the state’s gasoline tax. Wilson says that’s based on conversations with residents during meetings around the state. A Raycom Media Poll on the US Senate race has Republican State Treasurer John Kennedy and Democratic Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell leading the large field of candidates. That same poll also found that 55-percent of the voters believe Governor John Bel Edwards is doing either an excellent or good job.

The state is now asking for four billion dollars in federal flood disaster aid to help south Louisiana recover from the destructive flooding in August. The governor previously requested two-point-eight billion dollars. Edwards says they have a better grip on the amount of damage to homes and businesses.

Tonight at Tiger Stadium, LSU hosts Ole Miss in an SEC West showdown. LSU is a 7.5 point favorite.
