US Representative Charles Boustany holds a press conference this afternoon at his Lafayette home to announce he’s running for US Senate. The republican joins fellow GOP Congressman John Fleming who announced last week. It’s also possible state treasurer John Kennedy and PSC Member Scott Angelle will also join the race. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says they all have name recognition and the ability to raise money…

Another republican, Rob Maness, who ran last year for US Senate, is planning to run as well.

There was a fatal police shooting in New Orleans this morning. Chief Michael Harrison says one of his officers, Fredrick Carter, fatally shot a suspect during a traffic stop in New Orleans east. Harrison says the officer’s body camera shows Carter returning fire after the suspect shot once at the officer.

Bobby Jindal speaks to the Baton Rouge press club today as he tours the state touting his accomplishments during his eight years as governor. Eric Gill has more.
