A four-star edge rusher from Tampa has committed to the LSU football program. Six foot five Jesse Harrold gave a verbal pledge to the Tigers after also considering Texas A-and-M, Auburn and Miami. On3’s industry rankings has Harrold ranked as the 15th best edge rusher in the country

But one of the state’s top high school prospects in the Class of 2025 has decommitted from the Tigers. Westgate’s Jaboree Antoine announced on Sunday he’s now also considering Miami and Florida State. He’s considered one of the top prospects in the country for 2025.

Angel Reese had 25 points and 16 rebounds as Reese and the Chicago Sky got the best of Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever 88 to 87 yesterday. That’s now a WNBA rookie record eight straight double-doubles.

Former LSU star Sha’Carri Richardson has qualified for the US Olympic team as she won the 100 meters at the U-S Track trials with a time of 10.71. That’s the fastest time for a woman in the world this year.

One of the top pitchers in the Southland Conference is transferring to LSU. Jacob Mayers had two outstanding seasons at Nicholls and the former St. Amant Gator announced his commitment to the Tigers over the weekend. The six-foot-five right-hander has a fastball that can get into the upper 90s.

Louisiana Tech baseball coach Lane Burroughs has signed a new five-year contract which extends his deal through 2029. The Bulldogs will look a lot different next year as eight of the nine offensive starters last season were seniors. Burroughs will also lose out on the team’s two best relief pitchers Sam Broderson and All-American Ethan Bates. Burroughs says they have several transfers coming in..

Louisiana Tech has announced a five-year contract extension for Bulldogs baseball coach Lane Burroughs that will keep the Meridian, Mississippi, native in the Diamond Dogs dugout through the 2029 season. Burroughs just completed his eighth season in Ruston and led Tech to a 45-19 record and an NCAA Regional appearance. The Bulldogs have been to the NCAA Tournament three times in his eight years at Tech.

The Ragin Cajuns Kyle DeBarge was named a first-team All-American by Baseball America. The shortstop set school records with 21 home runs and 179 total bases as he hit .355 on the season.

LSU’s Griffin Herring is a second-team selection, while the Tigers Tommy White and Luke Holman were third team selections. Cajuns pitcher LP Langevin was also a third team selection and so is Louisiana Tech’s Ethan Bates as a utility palyer.

It appears former LSU pitcher Cam Johnson has committed to Oklahoma. Johnson was ranked as the 11th best overall prospect in the nation before coming to LSU, but had an ERA of 12 in his lone season with the Tigers.

The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremony is Saturday night in Natchitoches. Two legendary figures in Louisiana sports are going into the Hall, Saints quarterback Drew Brees and LSU women’s basketball great Seimone Augustus.

The 2024 class also features great coaches. Tulane men’s basketball coach Perry Clark, former high school football coach Frank Monica and legendary Grambling Coach Wilbert Ellis, who won 701 games in 26 seasons as a head coach…

The Saints have signed a defensive back from New Orleans. Roderic Teamer played at Tulane and Brother Martin. He has appeared in 40 games in the NFL, making 11 starts with 103 tackles and an interception. Teamer went undrafted in 2019, but spent the last three seasons with the Raiders.

Glasco was 302-and-88 as the coach of the Cajuns and this past season U-L Lafayette won 45 games and hosted a regional. Former LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese became the first WNBA rookie to record seven straight double-doubles. Reese had 16 points and 18 rebounds as the Chicago Sky defeated the Dallas Wings 83 to 72 to end a four-game losing streak.

The NCAA has presented plans to Division One conference commissioners that would expand the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments by four to eight teams or keep it at 68. If the tournament is expanded, it would mean the 10 through 12 seeds would be involved in play-in games.

U-L Lafayette has lost its softball coach to Texas Tech. Gerry Glasco has taken a job to be the softball coach for the Red Raiders after seven successful seasons leading the Cajuns program. U-L Lafayette was 45 and 19 this past season and hosted a Regional. They advanced to the Super Regionals in 2023. New regulations go into effect today when it comes to fishing red drum. The maximum daily catch per angler is four instead of five. Harvested red drum must be 18 to 27 inches long. The previous minimum was 16 inches. LDWF Director of Marine Fisheries Chris Shcieble says these limits are in place to get the population of red drum back up from overfishing.

LDWF estimates the red drum population will recover in three to five years with these regulations in place.

LSU baseball is adding a power hitter to its roster through the transfer portal as first baseman Eddie Yamin has committed to the Tigers. Yamin is coming off a really good season with the Dayton Flyers, where he hit .342 with 13 home runs and 54 RBIs. Yamin can also play in the outfield and behind the plate as a catcher.

Texas A-and-M and Tennessee are the last two schools standing at the College World Series. The Vols will make their first appearance in the championship series of the C-W-S after eliminating Florida State seven to two. The Aggies blanked Florida six to nothing and A-and-M will attempt to win its first C-W-S title.

Former Pelicans head coach Monty Williams has been fired after one season in Detroit. The Pistons had the worst record in the NBA at 14 and 68 and Williams is receiving 65-million dollars not to coach in Detroit anymore.

Eddie Yamin the Fourth says he’s coming to LSU after hitting .342 with 13 home runs and 54 RBIs for the Dayton Flyers in 2024. The New York Native has played catcher, first base and right field at Dayton.

At the College World Series today…Florida eliminated Kentucky today as the Gators defeated the Wildcats 15 to 4. Florida plays Texas A-and-M tonight. The Gators will need to beat the Aggies twice to advance to the championship round of the College World Series.

If Tennessee beats Florida State this afternoon, the Vols advance to the Championship series.

The Detroit Pistons announced the firing of Monte Williams today. The former Pelicans coach lasted just one season in Detroit and it was a miserable year. The Pistons had the NBA’s worst record at 14 and 68. Detroit is getting rid of Williams even though they will owe him 65-million dollars.

Attention anglers!!!. New red drum regulations go into effect tomorrow. There’s a four fish daily limit per angler. You can only keep red drum that measure between 18 to 27 inches in length. Keeping red drums over 27 inches is prohibited. The retention of red drum by captains or crew on charter or head boats while on a for-hire trip is prohibited. LSU baseball has received a commitment from an outfielder who has SEC experience. Chris Stanfield spent two seasons at Auburn and last year for the War Eagles, the Tallahassee, Florida native hit .276 with four home runs and 25 RBIs and nine stolen bases. Stanfield will compete in the Tigers outfield that will also include Jake Brown, Ashton Larson, Josh Pearson and Derek Curiel, an incoming freshman from California. Curiel has withdrawn his name from next month’s Major League Baseball draft.

At the College World Series, Florida State eliminated North Carolina nine to five. There will be three games today because last night’s Florida-Kentucky elimination game was postponed to 10 AM today because of storms in Omaha. After that game, F-S-U will play Tennessee at around 2 PM. The Seminoles will need to win twice to advance to the championship round. Texas A-and-M plays tonight against the winner of today’s game between the Gators and Wildcats.

The Catholic High Bears are national champs in high school baseball. MaxPreps ranked Catholic number one in its Final Top 25 ranking of the season on Tuesday. The Bears were 38-2 in 2024 and won the Division One select state championship game by blanking John Curtis five to nothing. Twelve players on this Catholic team have signed or committed to play in college, including LSU signee and potential first-round draft, pitcher William Schmidt. Outfielder Brooks Wright is a U-L Lafayette signee and left fielder Noah Lewis is a Ragin Cajuns commit for the Class of 2025.

Major League Baseball is mourning the death of a legendary player. Former San Francisco Giant great Willie Mays has passed away at the age of 93. Mays was named an M-L-B All-star 24 times and the Say Hey Kid won twelve Gold Gloves.

LSU Baseball has received a verbal pledge from former Auburn outfielder Chris Stanfield who entered the transfer portal after two seasons at Auburn. This past season on the Plains, Stanfield hit .276 with four home runs and 25 RBIs and he stole nine bases.

California high school outfielder Derek Curiel has announced he’s withdrawn from the 2024 MLB Draft and he’ll enroll at LSU this summer. Curiel is considered a plus-hitter from the left-side who has good speed and can play the field well. Curiel will be a draft eligible sophomore.

Former LSU pitcher Paul Skenes is now 4-0 after allowing one run in six innings in the Pirates four to one win over the Reds on Monday. Skenes struck out seven.

And the Washington Nationals have promoted Dylan Crews to Triple-A. The former LSU star was hitting .274 with 5 home runs and 38 RBIs at Harrisburg.

Former LSU football coach Les Miles is suing the university over vacating 37 of the coach’s wins preventing him from eligibility for College Football Hall of Fame Consideration.
