The Saints continue to do the unexpected. Lose games when you expect them to win, but win games when you think they’ll get beat. New Orleans went into Pittsburgh yesterday and beat the Steelers 35-32. Quarterback Drew Brees threw five touchdown passes to five different receivers, Mark Ingram rushed for 122 yards and the defense forced two turnovers. Coach Sean Payton says it feels good to beat a good team on the road…

The Saints remain tied for first in the NFC South with Atlanta, who upset the Arizona Cardinals yesterday 29-18. Also in the division, Cincinnati defeated Tampa Bay 14-13 and Carolina fell to Minnesota 31-13.

In college basketball action yesterday, Southeastern Louisiana bested Langston 92-80, UNO fell to Denver 79-60, and Tulane has now won five out of its first six as they defeated Tennessee Tech 73-68.

Louisiana Tech will play this Saturday in the Conference USA Championship game against Marshall after routing Rice 76-31 on Saturday at Joe Aillet Stadium. The Bulldogs amassed 677 total yards as quarterback Cody Sokol threw for 387 yards and four touchdowns. Head Coach Skip Holtz on his explosive offense

Tech will take on the Thundering Herd in the league title game this Saturday at 11 AM in Huntington, West Virginia and it can be seen on ESPN2.

In other college football action from the weekend, UL-Lafayette finished their regular season at 8-4 with a 42-23 win over Troy. It was Georgia Southern over ULM 22-16, Southeastern Louisiana fell to Sam Houston State in the first round of the FCS Playoffs 21-17, and Southern defeating Grambling in the Bayou Classic 52-45, and will take on Alcorn State for the SWAC Championship this Saturday.

The LSU football team capped off an up and down regular season with a 23-17 win over Texas A&M last night. Leonard Fournette rushed for 146 yards to help LSU win its 8th game of the year. Coach Les Miles says he’s proud of what his team accomplished…

The Tigers will now wait to find out which bowl game they’ll play in.

The Saints are trying to win the NFC South. They’ll be at Pittsburgh on Sunday. Running back Khiry Robinson has been ruled out, so that’s now six straight games he’s missed, because of a forearm injury. But veteran wide receiver Robert Meachem is expected to play after missing the last three games with an ankle injury.

The high school football playoffs resume tonight with some great match-ups. In Class Five-A…top seeded Byrd is at ninth seeded West Monroe. The number one seed in Two-A is also on the road as Many visits St. James. The LHSAA Game of the Week will feature the number one seed in Division One, John Curtis, facing fifth seeded Brother Martin.

In college football tomorrow…Southeastern Louisiana will face Sam Houston State in the first round of the F-C-S playoffs. The Lions beat the Bearkats in the quarterfinals last year. Southern and Grambling meet in the Bayou Classic on Saturday. The winner is the SWAC Western Division Champion and Louisiana Tech can win a Conference USA West crown with a win over Rice tomorrow afternoon.

In the NBA tonight…the Pelicans are in Atlanta to take on the Hawks. Anthony Davis is averaging 24 points a game, while the Hawks top scorer Jeff Teague, who is averaging 18 a contest. Tip-off from Phillips Arena is at 6:30.

After only putting up 123 yards of total offense in a loss to Arkansas, LSU found its powerful running game again in a 23-17 win over Texas A-and-M last night. The Tigers rushed for 384 yards, the most ever in an SEC game since 1997. Freshman running back Leonard Fournette led the Tigers ground attack as he rushed for 146 yards.

Tomorrow in college football…Louisiana Tech looks to win the Conference USA West Division, but to do so they have to beat Rice. The Ragin Cajuns are still in position to win a share of the Sun Belt Conference, but they’ll need to beat Troy and hope ULM upsets Georgia Southern.

LSU finishes their regular season on a high note as they defeated Texas A&M last night 23-17. Freshman running back Leonard Fournette rushed for 146 yards and one touchdown as the Tigers racked up 384 rushing yards on the game, the most in an SEC game since 1997. LSU finishes the regular season with an 8-4 overall record, 4-4 in the conference.

One of the best stories in college football this season will get national attention Saturday when the Grambling State Tigers try to complete their remarkable turnaround, by beating Southern in the Bayou Classic. With a win, the Tigers can win the SWAC Western Division after winning just two games in 2012 and 2013. First-year Coach Broderick Fobbs says despite some recent dark days at Grambling, the winning tradition never left the school…

Both of these teams enter tonight’s contest with identical records, seven and four overall, 3-and-4 in the SEC. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 and it will be televised on ESPN.

Saturday, Louisiana Tech hosts Rice with the Conference USA West division title on the line. The winner of that game will take on Marshall in the Conference USA championship game on December 6th.

With one game left in the regular season, UL-Lafayette still has a shot to share the Sun Belt Conference Championship, despite their loss last week to Appalachian State. For the Ragin Cajuns to claim at least a share of the Sun Belt title, they’ll need ULM to beat Georgia Southern on Saturday and the UL-L will need to knock off Troy. The Cajuns-Trojans game kicks off at 11:30 Saturday and the Warhawks-Eagles match up will begin at 5PM. Both games can be seen on ESPN3.

Also Saturday, Southeastern Louisiana will host Sam Houston State in the first round of the FCS playoffs. Kickoff is scheduled for 1PM Saturday in Strawberry Stadium. The winner will advance to take on Jacksonville State on December 6th.

In the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, ULM junior, Majok Deng, recorded a double-double, but it wasn’t enough as the Warhawks fell 61-48 to Coastal Carolina in Chattanooga, TN. Deng recorded 14 points and and pulled down a game high 10 rebounds as ULM falls to 2-2 on the season. ULM takes on Robert Morris today.

The LSU Tigers arrived in Texas today for tomorrow’s regular season finale match-up against the Aggies. The Bayou Bengals have struggled on offense, but they go up against a defense tomorrow night that’s 11th in points allowed and 13th in passing yards given up. Kick-off tomorrow is at 6:30 PM.

U-L Lafayette will play in an emotional game on Saturday when they face Troy. It’s the final game on the sidelines for Trojans longtime head coach Larry Blakeney. Cajuns Coach Mark Hudspeth expects Troy to play hard for their coach…

The Warhawks will look to finish their regular season with a two-game winning streak when they visit Georgia Southern on Saturday. ULM snapped a six game losing streak last week and Coach Todd Berry says it says a lot about his team that they want to finish the season strong, even though they didn’t win enough games to qualify for a bowl game…

The Saints came up short again last night and fell to the Baltimore Ravens 34-27 to fall to 4-and-7 on the year. Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 420 yards and three touchdowns. He was also intercepted once and that was returned 44-yards for a touchdown. The loss drops the Saints record to 4-and-7 and Brees says this losing is no fun…

Despite the losing record, the Saints are tied for first place in the NFC South with Atlanta. New Orleans is at Pittsburgh this Sunday, while the Falcons host the Arizona Cardinals.

The Pelicans are home tonight to take on the Sacramento Kings. No Eric Gordon tonight for the Pels, he’ll be sindelined for awhile because of a shoulder injury. New Orleans is hoping to get Center Omer Asik back in the line-up. He’s missed the last four games because of a back injury.

LSU will leave tomorrow for its Thanksgiving match-up with Texas A-and-M. It’s the Tigers first game on Turkey Day since 1983, when they beat Tulane 20-7 in the Louisiana Superdome. Anthony Jennings is expected to start once again at quarterback and Coach Les Miles has given no indication on whether Brandon Harris will play.

Louisiana Tech will host Rice on Saturday. The winner is the west division champ in Conference USA. Bulldogs Coach Skip Holtz says they had a feeling the West would be won on the last game of the season…

Southeastern Louisiana Quarterback Bryan Bennett has been named the Southland Offensive player of the year. Bennett has thrown for 21-hundred yards and 18 touchdowns and he also leads the team in rushing.

The Saints struggles continued last night as they fell to Baltimore 34-27. The defense struggled to contain Ravens running back Justin Forsett, who rushed for a career-high 182 yards and his 20-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter sent Who Dat fans home from the Superdome. Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 420 yards and three touchdown passes. But his one interception was returned 44 yards for a touchdown. New Orleans is now 4-and-7, but still tied with Atlanta for first place in the NFC South.

In the NBA…the seven and five Pelicans are back at home tonight following a four-game road trip. They host Sacramento at seven P-M. No Eric Gordon tonight, he’s out indefinitely with a shoulder injury.

In college hoops yesterday….LSU finished the Paradise Jam tournament in sixth place by losing to Clemson 64 to 61 yesterday. The Ragin Cajuns lost in Las Vegas yesterday as they fell to Milwaukee 56-52.

LSU has only a couple more days to prepare for Thursday night’s match-up against Texas A-and-M. The Tigers have won the two previous meetings against A-and-M, since the Aggies joined the Southeastern Conference. In both contests, LSU’s defense slowed down an A-and-M offense led by Johnny Manziel. Coach Les Miles says the Aggies offense hasn’t changed much since “Johnny Football” departed…

Miles says starting center Elliot Porter will not play against the Aggies. He has an injured ankle. Ethan Pocic will move over from right guard to center and Evan Washington will start at right guard for the seven and four Tigers.

Ragin Cajuns Coach Mark Hudspeth says linebacker Chris Hill has been dismissed from the team. The Florida native was arrested in October on a charge of domestic abuse battery.

The Baltimore Ravens gave the Saints their third consecutive home loss last night as they defeated the Black & Gold 34-20 in Monday Night Football action. Ravens running back Justin Forsett rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns as the Ravens improve to 7-4 on the season. Saints quarterback Drew Brees threw for 420 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in a losing effort. The Saints drop to 4-7 on the season, but are still tied for first in the NFC South. This is the first time the Saints dropped three consecutive games at home since 2001.

LSU heads into Thursday night’s regular season finale against Texas A-and-M struggling on offense. So will true freshman quarterback Brandon Harris get some snaps against the Aggies. When asked. Coach Les Miles gave a non-committal answer…

Louisiana Tech can win the West Division of Conference USA this Saturday. But the defending league champions stand in the Bulldogs way. The Rice Owls won ten games last year and were crowned the C-USA champs. This season Rice can win the West from Tech by beating the Bulldogs in Ruston this weekend. La Tech head coach Skip Holtz calls Rice a solid team

It was a tough night on the hardwood for Louisiana college basketball teams. LSU fell to Clemson 64-61, Milwaukee upended UL-Lafayette 56-52, Tennessee Tech defeated Southeastern Louisiana 81-62, and Ball State crushed Grambling 88-46.
