Kick-off on Saturday is at 7 PM. ESPN College Gameday is on the Alabama campus for the big game.

McNeese State can clinch a Southland Conference Championship on Saturday night when they host Sam Houston State at 6 PM in Cowboys Stadium. The Cowboys are 7-0 against league opponents, while the Bearkats are 5-and-1 and they rank second in the nation in both total offense and scoring offense. McNeese leads the league in total defense and scoring defense.

Louisiana Tech will host North Texas for homecoming on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs are seeking their ninth straight win at home. The Mean Green spoiled Tech’s homecoming celebration in 2013 as they beat the Bulldogs 28-13.

In the Sun Belt…UL Lafayette is at Georgia State. The Panthers are 2-and-5 on the season, but their quarterback Nick Arbuckle threw for 390 yards and two touchdowns last week in a loss to Arkansas State. The Cajuns are expected to play two quarterbacks on Saturday, Brooks Haack and Jalen Nixon.

ULM, who nearly beat the Cajuns last weekend, is at Troy.

The Saints have a good chance at picking up their fourth win in a row on Sunday when they host Tennessee. The Titans are 1-and-6 and have announced that Marcus Mariota will start against New Orleans. Mariota missed the last two games with a sprained MCL in his left knee.

The Saints are getting to take on the Tennessee Titans this Sunday. The Titans have struggled offensively, averaging nearly 18 points a game, which ranks 31st out of 32 teams. The Saints offense is coming off a performance where they racked up over 600 yards of total offense. Kick-off on Sunday is at noon.

The LSU football team leaves today for Alabama where they’ll take on the Crimson Tide in tomorrow night’s top ten showdown in Tuscaloosa. LSU is looking to keep its perfect season intact and Coach Les Miles wants his players to leave it all on the field…

Former LSU baseball standout JaCoby Jones, who was playing in the Arizona Fall League, was reportedly suspended 50 days by Major League Baseball for failing a drug test.

It’s going to be a busy college football weekend across Louisiana Saturday.

In Conference USA, Louisiana Tech looks to stay atop the Western Division when they host North Texas.

In the Southland, McNeese looks to stay undefeated when they take on Sam Houston State in Lake Charles. The Cowboys are 7-0 in league play while the Bearkats are 5-1.

Northwestern State will try to make it two wins in a row when face on Abilene Christian.

And Southeastern Louisiana looks to bounce back from last week’s loss when Incarnate Word comes to Strawberry Stadium.

Grambling will try to stay perfect in the SWAC as they host Texas Southern.

Southern hits the road to meet Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

And in the Sun Belt, ULM will be on the road to face Troy. The Warhawks are still looking for their first conference win on the season .

And UL-Lafayette travels to Statesboro, Georgia to take on Georgia Southern.

In high school football last night: Acadiana blanked New Iberia 49-0, Bastop crushed West Ouachita 49-6, it Byrd over Evangel Christian 24-16, Rayville defeated Mangham 34-26, West Monroe defeated Alexandria 62-35, Vandebilt Catholic topped Ellender 37-22.

The Orlando Magic led by 11 after the first quarter and never looked back as they beat the Pelicans 103-94 last night at the Smoothie King Center. Orlando forward Evan Fournier led all scorers with 30. Eric Gordon led the Pels with 21 followed by Anthony Davis with 14. New Orleans will host the Atlanta Hawks Friday night. The Pelicans are winless on the season, Atlanta has won their last four.

The first college football playoff rankings for 2015 come out at six PM tonight. LSU is expected to be in the top four, but for them to stay in the top four they’ll need to beat Alabama on Saturday. In big games like this, mistakes can cost you. LSU leads the SEC in penalty yards per game and Coach Les Miles hopes his team doesn’t see too many flags this Saturday…

LSU men’s basketball coach Johnny Jones announced today that senior guard Keith Hornsby will miss the start of the 2015-16 basketball season after underoing surgery today for a minor injury. Hornsby is the Tigers top returning scorer.

The Pelicans go after their first win of the season tonight as they host the Orlando Magic at the Smoothie King Center. The Magic are also winless, as they’ve lost their three games by five points or less. Meanwhile, New Orleans has allowed at least 111 points in its three defeats. Tip-off is just after 7 PM.

The Saints did not make any moves prior to the three PM trade deadline. New Orleans will host Tennessee this Sunday. The Titans announced earlier today that they’ve fired Ken Whisenhunt, who went 3-and-20 at the helm in Tennessee. Mike Mularky was named interim head coach.

In other NFL news…former Saint Reggie Bush was placed on injured reserve by the 49ers after tearing his ACL last Sunday. San Francisco has reportedly signed another former Saint, Pierre Thomas, to take Bush’s spot on the roster.

No changes atop the rankings in the high school football polls. Rummel, Neville, University, Notre Dame and St. Mary’s are all ranked number one.
