LSU will play the rest of the season without wide receiver Travin Dural as he’s out for the year with a torn hamstring. Miles says it will take three months for him to recover.

The Saints have returned to practice as they get ready for the stretch run of their season, which gets underway Sunday against Houston. Linebackers Hau’oli Kikaha and Ramon Humber have returned to practice on a limited basis. Running back Mark Ingram was also limited with a shoulder injury, while lienbackers David Hawthorne and Dannell Ellerbe and cornerbacks Keenan Lewis and Damian Swann all missed practiced.

And former LSU Tiger Matt Flynn, who is now a backup quarterback with the Saints, told reporters that it would be a mistake if LSU let Les Miles go.

The LSU men’s basketball team is back from a disappointing trip to Brooklyn, where they lost two games, one to Marquette and last night in overtime to North Carolina State. The Tigers are at Charleston on Monday.

Louisiana Tech is off to its best start since 1998 after beating Ohio State 82-74 on Tuesday. Alex Hamilton led the way with 24 points. Tech is back in action Friday against North Carolina Central.

Tonight in the NBA…the Pelicans begin a three-game road trip in Phoenix.

LSU Coach Les Miles said on today’s SEC teleconference that he will not look to defend or a make a case for himself as speculation continues to grow that he will be fired sometime after the Tigers play their final regular season game on Saturday against A-and-M. LSU wide receiver Malachi Dupre says the rumors swirling about Miles’ future with the program has not been a distraction. But he says better play on the field would help in the argument to keep Miles employed at LSU…

Miles has confirmed that junior wide receiver Travin Dural is done for the season after tearing his hamstring while trying to catch a touchdown pass against Ole Miss. Recovery time is three months. Dural is eligible to enter the NFL draft.

Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss face off on Saturday in Ruston and the winner will advance to the Conference USA Championship game. Southern Miss leads Conference USA in total defense and they are second in scoring defense, allowing 22 points a contest. The LSU men’s basketball team dropped their second game in a row yesterday losing to North Carolina State 83-72 in overtime. The Wolfpack defense held Ben Simmons to just four points in the contest. The Tigers return to the court Monday at Charleston.

There’s a lot up for grabs Saturday in Ruston as Louisiana Tech will battle Southern Miss in the regular season finale. The winner represents the West division in the Conference USA title game on December 5th. Tech Quarterback Jeff Driskel likes that the final game of the season has a lot on the line…

McNeese State’s Matt Viator has been named the Southland Conference Coach of the Year. Viator has guided the Cowboys to a perfect 10-0 overall record, 9-0 in the league. McNeese is a number four national seed in the FCS playoffs.

ULM President Nick Bruno announces they’vehired College Sports Solutions, which is based out of Atlanta, to help them search for a new football coach. Bruno has also appointed eight members to a search committee, five of whom once played for ULM, including former team captains, Van Lambert and Pat Mitchell. Current nose guard Gerrand Johnson was also selected to the search committee. ULM is looking for a replacement for the fired Todd Berry.

Evans has been recovering from a knee injury and was expected to miss six to eight weeks. But if Evans returns tomorrow that would mark a five-week recovery. New Orleans is looking for its third straight win tomorrow night.

And now LSU has lost a four-star recruit, a guy man thought would be a future quarterback for the Tigers. Feleipe Franks has decommitted from LSU as he announced his decision on Twitter. Franks gave a verbal pledge to LSU in the spring of 2014, but this past weekend was on Florida’s campus to watch the Gators take on Florida Atlantic. LSU’s 2016 recruiting class is now without a quarterback.

In college baseball…Louisiana Tech has hired Christian Ostrander as its new pitching coaching. Ostrander was the head coach at Jones County Junior College in Mississippi and compiled a record of 255-and-109 in seven seasons.

In college hoops…After losing last night to Marquette, the LSU men’s basketball team looks to rebound with a win today against North Carolina State. Southeastern Louisiana is at 24th ranked Cincincinnati and Louisiana Tech visits Ohio State.

The Tigers have lost three in a row for the first time in Miles 11-year coaching career at LSU. Miles is under contract through 2019, but LSU could fire him after Saturday and buyout his contract for 15 million dollars.

Crawfordville, Florida four-star quarterback Feleipe Franks announced that he has decommitted from LSU. Franks was the Tigers only quarterback commitment for the Class of 2016. It is now expected that Franks will sign with the University of Florida.

Marquette guard Jajuan Johnson hit two free-throws with 10.8 seconds remaining to lift the Golden Eagles to an 81-80 win over 22nd ranked LSU in the semifinals of the Legends Classic in Brooklyn, New York. Freshman standout Ben Simmons led all scorers with 21 and added 20 rebounds in the effort. Tim Quarterman threw in another 20 for the Bayou Bengals as they fall to 3-1 on the season. Marquette will face Arizona State in tonight’s championship game. LSU faces North Carolina State in the consolation game at 4:30 this afternoon. That game can be seen on ESPNU.

Elsewhere on the college hardwood today, the 3-0 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are on the road to face the Ohio State Buckeyes, Southern will host Dillard, and Southeastern Louisiana visits the undefeated 24th ranked Cincinnati Bearcats.

Nicholls State and the Manning Passing Academy have signed a six-year contract extension that keeps the football skills camp on the Thibodaux campus through 2021. Nicholls has hosted the four-day summer football camp since 2005.

Tampa Bay moved a full game ahead of New Orleans for third place in the division thanks to there 45-17 win over Philadelphia. Carolina moved to 10-0 on the year as Cam Newton threw five touchdown passes in a 44-16 win over Washington. The Saints home game against Carolina on December sixth has been flexed to 3:15 PM. This Sunday, the Saints visit the improving Houston Texans. It was announced today that Bryan Hoyer will start at quarterback for Houston as he’s done with the team’s concussion protocol.

The LSU men’s basketball team looks to improve its record to 4-and-0 as they take on Marquette at the Barclays Center in Brookyln. Center Elbert Robinson is expected to play after injuring his ankle in the win over South Alabama last Thursday. And the Tigers Ben Simmons has been named SEC Freshman of the Week. He averaged 22.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in wins over Kennesaw State and South Alabama last week.

McNeese State has a first-round bye in the FCS playoffs as the Cowboys drew the number four seed. The 10-0 Pokes will play on December fifth the winner of the this Saturday’s game between Southern Utah and Sam Houston State.

Big game for Anthony Davis last night and the Pelicans won their second game in a row, third overall as New Orleans defeated the Suns 122 to 116. Davis had 32 points and 19 rebound sand hit a critical three-pointer with less than a minute left. Ryan Anderson added 29 ponts. New Orleans begins a three-game road trip at Phoenix on Wednesday.

The LSU men’s basketball team will play Marquette tonight at the Barclays Center in Brookln. It’s the semifianals of the Legends Classic. The Tigers are 3-and-0, while the Marquette is 1-and-2. LSU will play either Arizona State or North Carolina State tomorrow.

In action last night…Tulane over Appalachian State 76-48, Nebraksa thumped Southeastern Louisiana 92-65. Arizona crushed Northwestern State 61-42 and Hawaii thumped Nicholls State 99-74.

This is the first time LSU has lost three straight games with Miles as head coach.

In Conference USA, Louisiana Tech held off Texas-El Paso 17-15. Bulldog quarterback Jeff Driskel threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns as Tech moves 8-3 and remains tied for first in the Western Division with Southern Miss. The Bulldogs will host the Golden Eagles Saturday for the right to represent the West in the Conference USA title game December 5th.

In the Southland Conference, McNeese State finished off their perfect season by defeating Lamar 20-14. The 9-0 Cowboys become only the ninth team in conference history to finish the regular season undefeated. McNeese picked up the number four seed in the FCS playoffs and will receive a first round bye. The Cowboys will face the winner of Saturday’s Sam Houston State – Southern Utah matchup in the second round December 5th.

Northwestern State ended their season on a high note beating Stephen F. Austin 33-17.

A 21-yard field goal with a minute and a half remaining lifts New Mexico State over UL-Lafayette 37-34. Cajuns quarterback Books Haack threw for 283 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. Running back Elijah McGuire ran for 159 yards and two additional touchdowns as UL-Lafayette falls to 4-6 on the season. The Ragin Cajuns must win their two remaining games to become bowl eligible.

The 17th ranked LSU Tigers look to break a two-game losing streak into today’s game at number 25 Ole Miss. The Tigers offense has struggled to put points on the board the last two weeks. Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron says they want to get the running game going after attempting to throw the ball 40 times last week…

In high school football playoff action, Ponchatoula upset Class 5-A top seed West Monroe 28-21, Landry Walker defeated Byrd 47-41, and 2-time defending champ Acadiana loses to Parkway 55-28. In Class 4-A, it was Franklinton over Minden 35-34 and Bastrop beat Assumption 28-13.

A ton of upsets in Class 3-A last night, Jena, North Webster, Patterson, Eunice, and Church Point all lost. And in Division 3, Notre Dame defeated Calvary 28-7.

UL-Lafayette needs to win two of its last three games if they want a chance to play in a bowl game for a fifth straight season. Coach Mark Hudspeth hopes one of those wins comes today against New Mexico State. The Aggies come to Cajun Field with a 2-and-7 record, but they have an outstanding running back. Larry Rose the Third leads the Sun Belt in rushing, with nearly 13-hundred yards on the ground. Hudspeth says Rose is an impressive back…
