LSU will be the visiting team for tonight’s game as they lost a coin flip to determine who will bat last. It’s unsure who will start for the Tigers. Jared Poche is a possibility on three-days rest. First pitch is at 4 PM. Rain is not in the forecast and it will be hot with high temperatures in the low 90s.

33-year-old Roman Harper is reportedly coming back to the Saints. Harper spent his first 8 seasons in the NFL with New Orleans and spent the last two years with Carolina after he was cut by the Black and Gold in February 2014.

The Ragin Cajuns season came to a quick end last night as they lost two games to Arizona, which resulted in the Wildcats winning the Lafayette Regional and advancing to the Super Regionals. UL Lafayette had won 12 in a row heading into Monday, but lost the first game to Arizona 6-3 and then lost the regional championship game 3-1. It’s win or go home for the LSU Baseball team today after losing to Rice 10-6 last night to force a winner take all matchup at 4 PM in the Baton Rouge Regional. If LSU won last night, they would be heading to the Super Regionals. Coach Paul Mainieri doesn’t think there’s more pressure on his team to get it done today…:

LSU had 15 hits in the loss, but they were just 2-of-10 at the plate with runners in scoring position. The game will air on ESPN3.

Southeastern Louisiana saw its 2016 season end with a brutal 15-0 loss to Rice in the Baton Rouge Regional. The Lions finish the season with a 40-21 record. But star hitter Jameson Fisher ended the season as one of the top hitters in the country.

Auburn coach Gus Malzahn is going to remain with the team through the 2020 season, according to a report from UL.com. It indicates Malzahn will get $4.725 million dollars through December 31st, 2020.

The Ragin Cajuns will face Arizona again tonight after losing to the Wildcats six to three today in the championship round of the Lafayette Regional. UL Lafayette fell behind five to nothing today and never could recover. Cajuns starting pitcher Evan Guillory failed to record an out and gave up three runs. The winner take all match-up is at 7 PM.

The LSU Tigers will face the Rice Owls tonight at the Box as Rice is on its way to beating Southeastern Louisiana to advance to the Baton Rouge Regional championship round. The Tigers beat Rice four to two last night as Greg Deichmann hit an inside-the-park grand slam in the first inning….

The ball Deichmann hit got stuck underneath a bullpen bench, which allowed the bases to be cleared.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the Saints are interested in Dallas Cowboys guard Ronald Leary. The 27-year-old is involved in a contract dispute with Dallas and has asked to be traded. Leary was a fulltime starter for Dallas in 2013 and 2014 and last season he was replaced by former LSU Tiger La’el Collins.

The Louisiana Tech baseball team is back in Ruston today after it’s remarkable season came to an end last night in the Starkville Regional. Mississippi State blanked the Bulldogs four to nothing to advance to the Super Regionals. Tech, who was in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 29 years, finishes the 2016 season with a 42-20 record.

Tulane’s season also ended last night as the Green Wave fell to Boston College, who is the champion of the Oxford Regional. JP France suffered the loss on the mound as the Green Wave finished with a record of 41-22.

Louisiana Tech’s historical season came to an end last night as they lost to a national championship contender. Mississippi State blanked Tech four to nothing as State advances to play the winner of the Lafayette Regional. The Bulldogs had just two hits on the night as M-S-U pitchers Zac Houston and Ryan Rigby combined on the shuout. La Tech’s final record for 2016 is 42-20.

The LSU softball team’s season ended last night with a seven to three loss to Oklahoma. Earlier in the day, the Tigers defeated Georgia four to one and LSU was one of four teams left standing when Sunday night rolled around. It’s the second straight year, LSU will finish the season tied for third in the country. Oklahoma and Auburn advance to play in the championship series, which begins tonight.

Louisiana jockey Kent Desormeaux has announced he’s gone into alcohol rehabilitation, but he’ll return to ride Exaggerator in the Belmont Stakes next week.

LSU starting pitcher Alex Lange struck out 10 hitters to help lead the Tigers to a 4-2 win over Rice. The victory puts the Bayou Bengals into the championship round of the Baton Rouge regional. The LSU softball team is out of the run in the 2016 Women’s College World Series after falling to the Oklahoma Sooners 7-3. The Lady Tigers end the season with 52 wins, tied for the 9th most in program history.

The Ragin Cajuns are one win away from advancing to the Super Regionals after UL Lafayette easily defeated Arizona 10-3 yesterday afternoon. Sophomore left-hander Gunner Leger won his 7th game of the year as he threw five innings and allowed three runs. Head Coach Tony Robichaux..:

After 42 wins, Louisiana Tech’s season is over. The Bulldogs were blanked by Mississippi State 2-0 as the other Bulldogs won the Starkville Regional and advance to the Super Regionals, where they’ll face either UL Lafayette or Arizona.

Tulane couldn’t get it together to pull out a victory over Boston College as The Green Wave ended their season after falling to the Eagles 6-3 on Sunday night in Oxford.b Tulane’s season ends with a 41-21 record.

It was a long day at the ballpark for the LSU Tigers, but it was worth it for the Bayou Bengals who defeated Utah Valley 7-1. The game was scheduled to begin at 2 PM, but bad weather prevented the two teams from taking the field until 8:30 PM. Jake Fraley started it for the Tigers with this two-run blast….

That’s Chris Blair of the LSU Sports Radio Network. Greg Deichmann also hit a two-run homer and Jared Poche (Po-shay) struck out eight in six innings to get the win.

LSU is scheduled to play again at 7 PM tonight. But more rain is in the forecast and two games have to be played, before the Tigers can play. Southeastern Louisiana and Rice face each other at 9 AM to get the action started.

The Ragin Cajuns rallied back from a one run deficit in the 7th inning to beat Princeton 5-3 to advance to the winner’s bracket of the Lafayette Regional. Kennon Fontenot homered for the Cajuns, but it was Joe Robbins RBI triple in the 8th inning that snapped a 3-3 tie. Eric Carter was the winning pitcher as he threw three innings of relief and struck out five.

So, it will be UL Lafayette against Arizona tonight at 7 PM at the Tigue.

Louisiana Tech and Cal-State Fullerton will resume its regional game at 10 AM this morning in Starkville. The game is scoreless in the 7th inning thanks to Phillip Diehl’s outstanding start for the Bulldogs.

Tulane will play an elimination game against Ole Miss at 1 PM as the Green Wave lost to Boston College 7-2, while the Rebels were upset by Utah, 6-5 in 10 innings.

LSU softball lost to Michigan 2-0 last night and they’ll play Alabama at 1;30 in an elimination game in the Women’s College World Series.

Rain and lightening have pushed back the start of the Baton Rouge Regional. LSU and Utah Valley have been waiting since two o’ clock to play. When they do play, Jared Poche will be on the mound for the Tigers. The junior lefthander from Lutcher has allowed four earned runs in his last three starts. Coach Paul Mainieri calls Poche the ultimate competitor…

Poche faces a Wolverine line-up that has eight hitters who are batting .296 or higher.

They are also waiting out the weather in Lafayette. The first game of that regional, Arizona versus Sam Houston State has yet to start. They hope to begin play at 5:30 at the Tigue. UL-Lafayette versus Princeton is the scheduled second game of the day.

Louisiana Tech is making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 29 years tonight as the Bulldogs take on Cal State Fullerton at 6:30 PM. The Bulldogs do have some postseason experience on their coaching staff. Assistant Coach Jake Wells was part of Mississippi State’s coaching staff that went to the College World Series in 2013. Tech Head coach Greg Goff says it’s comforting to have Wells on his staff for this situation…

The LSU softball team will try to play again tonight in Oklahoma City at the Women’s College World Series. Their game last night against Michigan was rained out and they’ll attempt to play again at 8:30.

Junior lefthander Jared Poche starts on the hill this afternoon for the Fighting Tigers, who face Utah Valley to open the Baton Rouge Regional. Coach Paul Mainieri believes Poche’s postseason experience will serve him and the team well today….

Poche will face a Utah Valley line-up that has six batters who are hitting .300 or better.

Louisiana Tech will face Cal State Fullerton tonight in the Starkville Regional. The Bulldogs are ending a 29-year postseason drought, while the Titans are in the NCAA Baseball Tournament for a 25th straight season.

The Ragin Cajuns will face Princeton tonight in the opening round of the Lafayette Regional. The Cajuns have played really well at the Tigue this season as they have a 23-and-5 record at home. Princeton is 24-19 on the season and the Tigers are making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011.

Tulane is the second-seed in the Oxford Regional and they’ll play Boston College at three PM at Swayze Field. The Green Wave won a regional in Oxford in 2004. They beat former Washington pitcher and two-time Cy Young award winner Tim Lincecum in one of those contests. Today, the Greenies will face righthander Justin Dunn, who has a 1.35 ERA.

At a hearing today in the Will Smith case, off-duty New Orleans police officer Chrstopher Mcgaw testified that Cardell Hayes, the man accused of fatally shooting the former Saints player, said at the scene that he got out of his vehicle armed with a gun. Mcgaw also says Hayes told him that Smith said he had a gun too.

Louisiana Tech head baseball coach Greg Goff says junior right-hander Phillip Diehl will start against Cal State Fullerton tomorrow and they’ll pitch Casey Sutton on Saturday. Diehl is 5-and-5 with a 4.70 ERA.
