The Tigers leading scorer, freshman Tremont Waters, has struggled in SEC play as he’s failed to score in double figures in three of the last four games. Coach Will Wade says he’s going through some adversity and this is a learning process for him…

Philadelphia’s Eagles Doug Pederson is the first person with ties to Louisiana to be a head coach in a Super Bowl. He coached at Calvary Baptist in Shreveport and also is a former ULM quarterback. Ex-Calvary Baptist assistant coach Terry Slack says Pederson’s faith is a driving force in his personal and professional life…

ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reports Maryland has hired Matt Canada as its offensive coordinator. Canada recently left LSU and as part of the separation, he’ll get one-point-seven million dollars to coach somewhere else.

Louisiana Tech released its football schedule for next season. The Bulldogs open the year at South Alabama and the home opener is the next week against Southern. Tech will travel to LSU on September 22nd and open Conference USA play by visiting North Texas on September 29th.

The Pelicans trailed by 18 points last night, but rallied to beat the Chicago Bulls 132-128 in double overtime. Huge game for DeMarcus Cousins as he had a triple double, 44 points, 24 rebounds and 10 assists. No one has put up numbers like that in a game since Wilt Chamberlain did it 50 years ago. The Pelicans have won five of their last six.

The Fighting Tigers men’s basketball team has lost three straight and they host Texas A-and-M tonight. LSU’s latest loss was Saturday a 77-71 defeat to Vanderbilt. Wade says his team is failing to make winning plays down the stretch…

In other NFL news…Saints Guard Larry Warford has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster. He’s the seventh Saint to be named to the team, the most the franchise has had since the 2009 Super Bowl team. It’s the first Pro Bowl invite for Warford, who signed a four-year deal with the Black and Gold in March.

Former LSU Quarterback Lindsey Scott announces he plans on signing with Missouri next month after helping East Mississippi win a national junior college championship.

Louisiana Tech and North Carolina State have agreed to play each other in football in 2021, 2024 and 2025. The Wolfpack will visit the Bulldogs in 2025.

In the NBA, what a night for DeMarcus Cousins and the New Orleans Pelicans. It took two overtimes for the Pels to get a thrilling 132 to 128 win over The Chicago Bulls. Cousins finished with 44 points and 23 rebounds. It was the 5th win in 6 for the Pels, their best six game mark of the season.

With the Eagles headed to the big game, another spot became open in next week’s Pro Bowl, and New Orleans right guard Larry Warford is now the 7th Saints player chosen for the game. This ties a team record for the Saints for most Pro Bowlers in franchise history.

The Big 10’s Maryland is reportedly expected to hire former LSU offensive coordinator Matt Canada for the same job.

Former ULM Quarterback and Calvary Baptist Head Coach Doug Pederson has led the Philadelphia Eagles to their third appearance in the Super Bowl. Pederson’s Eagles easily beat the Minnesota Vikings 38-7 to reach Super Bowl 52, where they’ll play the New England Patriots, the defending Super Bowl champs.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper’s mock draft does have a single team taking LSU edge rusher Arden Key in the first round. But draft analyst Mike Detillier believes Key will be a first-round selection, because he could be a huge asset for 3-4 defense…

Detillier says some NFL teams may stay away from Key, because he dealt with injuries last season and off the field issues.

Former Calvary Baptist Head Football Coach Doug Pederson has guided the Philadelphia Eagles to their third Super Bowl appearance. The Eagles won easily over the Vikings 38-7 in the NFC Championship game. In the A-F-C title game, former LSU standout Leonard Fournette rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown, but it wasn’t enough as the Jaguars lost to New England 24-20.

Former LSU offensive coordinator Matt Canada is reportedly close to finding a new job. ESPN says the University of Maryland is working on a deal to make Canada their next offensive coordinator.

And former LSU running back Derius Guice has signed with Top Dawg Entertainment to represent him. Musician Kendrick Lamar runs the agency that already represents several musicians. Guice is the first athlete to be represented by the agency.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper doesn’t think any NFL teams will select an LSU player in the first round of the draft. But analyst Mike Detillier can see former Tigers running back Derrius Guice being taken anywhere between the 9th and 16th selection…:

Detillier also believes former LSU Tiger Arden Key will be selected in the middle of the first round. The 2018 NFL Draft begins April 26th.

The Eagles picked up the NFC title in a dominating 38-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl. It’s Philadelphia’s first Super Bowl appearance since 2005..against the team that beat them then, AFC champion New England.

In the AFC Championship on Sunday, Tom Brady and the Patriots rallied to punch yet another ticket to the Super Bowl with a 24-20 comeback victory over Jacksonville. Playing for the Jags now, former LSU Tiger Leonard Fournette was spotted showing emotion walking into the locker room after the game, while being consoled by his teammates. Fournette rushed 24 times for 76 yards and the touchdown, which was his fourth in postseason play.

In the NBA, the Pelicans rolled over Memphis 111-104. Jrue Holiday was on fire scoring 13 of his 27 points in the 4th quarter. DeMarcus Cousins had 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Anthony Davis added 21 points and 12 rebounds. The Pels will take on the Bulls tonight inside the Smoothie King Center.

In college hoops, LSU fell to Vanderbilt on Saturday 77-71. The Tigers will take on Texas A&M tomorrow in the PMAC.

It is championship Sunday in the NFL. In the A-F-C title game, it’s New England versus Leonard Fournette and the Jacksonville Jaguars and then the N-F-C championship game has Philadelphia hosting Minnesota. Former ULM Q-B and Calvary Baptist Head Coach, Doug Pederson, is trying to guide the Eagles to the Super Bowl, even though starting quarterback Carson Wentz is sidelined because of a knee injury. Pederson has confidence backup Nick Foles can get the job done against one of the best defenses in the NFL…

In college football, Southeastern Louisiana Head Coach Ron Roberts is leaving the Lions to become the defensive coordinator of U-L Lafayette. Roberts had a record of 42-29 in five seasons as the head coach of the Lions and led them to two Southland conference championships.

The LSU men’s basketball team will take on Vanderbilt at high noon on Saturday. The Fighting Tigers have lost two straight and they are 2-3 in the SEC. But those two victories came on the road. The Commodres have really struggled this season as they are just 6-and-12.

The Ragin Cajuns will look to stay unbeaten in the Sun Belt when they visit Texas State at 4:30. U-L lafayette is averaging 85 points a game. The Bobcats are 6-1 in the league and only allowing 63 points a game.

ULM who lost to Texas State on Thursday is at U-T Arlington.

Louisiana Tech looks to keep climbing up the Conference USA Standings as the Bulldogs host Rice on Saturday night. The Owls are just 4-15.

Tulane and S-M-U will face each other at 5:00. Both teams are 3-3 in the American Conference.

Elsewhere…Northwestern State is at Southeastern Louisiana and Grambling visits Jackson State, who is undefeated in the SWAC.

The Pelicans host Memphis Saturday night in the Smoothie King Center.

The New Orleans Pelicans will be well represented in the starting lineup for the 2018 NBA All-Star Game. The league announced Thursday that Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins were among the five starters from the Western Conference in this year’s game. This is Davis’ 5th consecutive All-Star appearance and second as a starter. Cousins is making his four consecutive All-Star appearance and first as a starter. This is the first time in franchise history that the Pelicans have two starters in an All-Star game. New Orleans will face the Grizzlies tomorrow in the Smoothie King Center.

In college hoops, UL-Lafayette overcame a 14-point deficit in the first half to claim a 77-65 win over UT Arlington in Sun Belt Conference action Thursday on the road. The Ragin Cajuns are now 6-0 in the SBC and off to their best start since the early 70s. They’ll face Texas State tomorrow.

What a win by Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs lost their last five games by four points or less but did not let that happen last night. Tech walked away with a 66-65 victory over North Texas. They’ll face Rice tomorrow.

LSU nose tackle Greg Gilmore has been added to the Senior Bowl. He’ll be one of four Tigers in the game on January 27th in Mobile. Defensive lineman Christian LaCouture, running back Darrel Williams and receiver DJ Chark have also received invitations.

And former LSU standouts Russell Gage and Frank Herron will play in the N-F-L-P-A Collegiate Bowl on Saturday in the Rose Bowl in Pasedena.

After beating the best team in the Eastern Conference on Tuesday, the Pelicans turned around and lost to the worst team in the East on Wednesday. New Orleans fell to the Hawks 94-93, despite having a 19-point lead in the second quarter. Both Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins missed free throws down the stretch. New Orleans is back on home on Saturday to host Memphis. The Grizzlies are just 15-28 on the season.

The Ragin Cajuns are in first place in the Sun Belt and 5-0. They visit UT Arlington tonight. The Mavericks were picked to win the Sun Belt this season. Frank Bartley leads UL-Lafayette in scoring, averaging 16 points a game. But Coach Bob Marlin says the senior from Baton Rouge is more than a scorer…

Last night, Southeastern Louisiana beat Houston Baptist 85-69 and Northwestern State fell to 0-6 in the Southland after the Demons lost to Sam Houston State 75-52.

Saints punter Thomas Morstead will travel back to Minneapolis and present the Children’s Minnesota Child Life Program with 150-thousand dollars. Vikings fans have been donating to Morstead’s foundation, What You Give Will Grow. They were impressed Morstead was the first to return to the field for the extra point Minnesota had to kick after the Vikings scored the game-winning touchdown on the final play.
