Last night, McNeese scored three runs in the seventh inning to beat Prairie View 4-1. Nate Fisbeck’s two-run double was the key hit in 7th inning rally. The Cowboys will host Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi tomorrow night.

The recruiting middleman that was at the center of LSU basketball coach Will Wade’s FBI wiretap scandal has been convicted in the NCAA corruption trial. A federal jury in New York found aspiring agent Christian Dawkins and youth basketball coach Merl Code guilty of bribing coaches They will be sentenced at a later date. Purported FBI wiretaps revealed in October and in March allegedly had Dawkins and Wade discussing possible payoffs for recruits.

Two of the six LSU basketball players who entered the NBA draft process have been invited to participate in next week’s NBA draft combine. Point guard Tremont Waters and Forward Naz Reid are among the 66 players invited to work in front of coaches and scouts from all 30 teams.

LSU has won 13 of their last 14 SEC regular-season series against the Razorbacks, including seven in a row. The Hogs are playing well. They are 17-7 in league play and they’ve hit 64 home runs, the second most in the SEC.

Meanwhile, Louisiana Tech gets ready to host Western Kentucky this weekend. But because of the extensive damage to J-C Love Field, the three-game set that starts Friday will take place on the ULM campus.

The recruiting middleman that was involved in the LSU FBI wiretap scandal has been convicted in the NCAA corruption trial. LSU begins its series at Arkansas on Thursday night.

It was a much needed win for the Bulldogs as they had lost seven of their last eight heading into the contest. It was Tech’s first road win over the Tigers since 1983 and their largest margin o victory since 1933. Mason Mallard had four hits and drove in three runs, while Tanner Huddleston had three hits and four RBIs.

Also last night, Nicholls over Tulane five to three, UNO edged Southern five to four and South Alabama defeated Southeastern Louisiana. Tonight, McNeese hosts Priaire View.

LSU football coach Ed Orgeron is excited about the potential of the Tigers offense in 2019. Steve Ensminger will be the offensive coordinator for a second straight season, but Orgeron says he’ll get help from newly hired former Saints assistant Joe Brady…

The school is working to find out where the baseball and softball teams will play next season, because their stadiums will have to be completely rebuilt. Louisiana Tech snapped its 12-game losing streak to LSU with a 12-1 beating of the Tigers in Baton Rouge last night. It’s Tech’s first win over the Bayou Bengals since 1987. The Bulldogs pounded out 17 hits. Mason Mallard had three doubles and drove in three runs. Tanner Huddleston drove in four runs. Three Tech pitchers held LSU to four hits.

La Tech will now get ready to host Western Kentucky and the games will be played in Monroe, because of tornado damage to J-C Love Field. Athletics Director Tommy McClelland says the baseball, softball and soccer stadiums were all destroyed by the twister and they are still considering their options when it comes to rebuilding on their old grounds or picking new locations…

Back to college baseball, Nicholls is back over the .500 mark after beating Tulane five to three. The Colonels scored three runs in the seventh inning. Champ Davison and Dane Simon homered for Nicholls in the win.

UNO held on for a five to four win over Southern and the Privateers are also now one game over the five hundred mark.

And South Alabama crushed Southeastern Louisiana 14-4. The Jaguars had seven extra base hits and the Lions fall to 27-22 on the season.

LSU football coach Ed Orgeron will be in West Monroe tonight at the Walk On’s Restaurant for the Tiger Athletic Foundation’s Coaches Caravan Tour. Coach O was in Shreveport last night and said his team will need to block out the noise like they did last year. Orgeron says last year it was negative noise, this year it will be positive noise, because the expectations are higher coming off a 10-win season…

Oregeron says the plan right now is for Michael Divinity to play inside linebacker, after he tied for the team lead in sacks with five while playing outside linebacker. LSU is looking for experience at inside linebacker, because of the loss of Devin White.

The LSU men’s basketball program is planning to visit Spain in August. The NCAA allows schools to take one foreign trip every four years and LSU’s last out of country trip was in 2015 in Australia.

New LSU athletics director Scott Woodward appeared on ESPN’s After Further Review with Matt Mascona and was asked about basketball coach Will Wade. Woodward says Wade has their support and backing and it will be that way until it’s not. He added that they hope Wade is LSU’s coach for a long time, but things change and minds change.

Ole Miss responded to the home barrage by LSU by scoring four runs in the 10th inning off of Devin Fontenot.

And there’s more bad news concerning LSU’s pitching. Mainieri told Tiger Rag’s James Moran that freshman starter Cole Henry will not make the trip to Fayetteville for the series at Arkansas.

At the state capitol today, the Senate Finance Committee began asking questions about possible renovations to the Superdome and if it’s in the best interest in the state to pay for them. Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District Commissioner Hilary Landry says investing into the Dome is a wise decision…

But Baton Rouge Senator Bodi White says there’s just not enough information available right now to make an informed decision about whether or not the state should fork over the cash for this sought-after renovation.

The Saints have reportedly committed to paying a third of those costs, but the rest of that money could have to be appropriated by the state legislature. Expect more discussion on this topic over the next year.

LSU baseball rallied back from a six-run deficit in the ninth inning with three consecutive home runs, but still lost to Ole Miss 19-15 in the 10th inning. The loss drops LSU into fourth place in the SEC West with a 14-10 record. Antoine Duplantis, who had five hits, including a three-run homer in the 9th, says with eight games left, they can’t have too many more losses…

LSU will host Louisiana Tech on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are struggling as they’ve lost seven of their last eight.

LSU really needs to get it going. They are on the verge of not getting a bye for the SEC Tournament, but more importantly, the Tigers might be on the road again for an NCAA Regional.

Today marks new LSU athletics director Scott Woodward’s first day on the job. Woodward has posted a letter to the LSU family on the school’s athletics website. In that published statement, Woodward says he believes in LSU and he believes the school will win championships under his leadership.

Louisiana Tech is Conference USA champs in softball. The Lady Techsters defeated Southern Miss twice on their Senior Day to claim a share of the league title with North Texas. Tech will be the number two seed in the Conference USA tournament in Birmingham this week.

After getting swept by Alabama, LSU softball finished third in the SEC and they’ll be play Thursday in the SEC Tournament in College Station, Texas.

The Cajuns are the number one seed in the Sun Belt softball tournament and they’ll play Thursday afternoon. ULM is the eight seed and they’ll face Appalachian State in San Marcos, Texas on Wednesday.

The LSU Baseball team hit back-to-back-to-back home runs to help erase a six run deficit in the ninth inning, but the Tigers still lost 19-15 in 10 innings to Ole Miss. The Rebels responded to the home run barrage by scoring four runs in the 10th inning as Coach Paul Mainieri says losing pitcher Devin Fontenot struggled with his command again.

The loss drops LSU into fourth place in the SEC West with a 14-10 record, three games back of first place Arkansas, who the Tigers will visit for a series on Thursday. LSU needs a strong finish to avoid playing on the first day of the SEC Tournament and to make sure they host a Regional.

With two more conference weekends to go, Southeastern Louisiana is tied with Sam Houston State for first place in the league standings. The Lions scored two runs in the eighth inning yesterday to beat Lamar six to four.

Elsewhere, McNeese knocked off Stephen F Austin five to one to complete a three-game sweep. Clayton Rasbeary rocked a grand slam. Nicholls outlasted Houston Baptist four to three in 15 innings. Brady Bell’s base hit with the bases loaded started the walk-off celebration.

Northwestern State swept a doubleheader from Grambling State. Louisiana Tech spilt a doubleheader with Old Dominion on Saturday. The Bulldogs are in Baton Rouge on Tuesday to visit LSU.

Southern split a doubleheader with Prairie View. The Jaguars are SWAC Western Division champs thanks to a 12-8 win on Saturday.

The Ragin Cajuns are still in last place in the Sun Belt’s West Division after losing to Coastal Carolina 11-9 yesterday. ULM topped UT-Arlington six to three to take the series. The Warhawks have won six of their last eight games.
