That’s the reaction of the Pelicans ticket office as they watched the results of the NBA lottery last night which revealed that New Orleans has the number one pick in next month’s NBA draft which gives them the opportunity to select one of the top college players in recent memory, Duke’s Zion Williamson.

So what does this mean for disgruntled superstar Anthony Davis. Pelicans Executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin says the goal is still to convince A-D that New Orleans is the place for him…

A big four run third inning helped the LSU baseball team defeat UNO seven to five last night. Daniel Cabrera hit a two-run homer in that four-run third. Antoine Duplantis hit his 10th home run of the season. Zack Hess earned the save, but also gave up a two-run homer.

Tulane crushed South Alabama 11 to 1. Louisiana Tech fell seven to three to fifth ranked Mississippi State in Starkville.

The SWAC baseball tournament gets underway today at Wesley Barrow Stadium in New Orleans. Grambling faces Alcorn State at 9 AM, while Southern battles Arkansas Pine-Bluff tonight at 6 PM.

At the state baseball championships, here are your championship teams from yesterday, Oberlin, St. Charles Catholic, Sterlington, St. Paul’s, Tioga and Barbe defeated Sam Houston eight to two.

Today marks the deadline for Louisiana taxpayers to file their 2018 state income tax return. If a taxpayer needs more time to prepare and file their paper work, Louisiana Department of Revenue spokesperson Byron Henderson says an extension needs to be filed today.

Henderson says an extension to file does not mean an extension to pay, your payment to the state is still due today.

Republican Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain has picked up another challenger for this fall’s election. It’s LSU graduate and New Orleans flower and vegetable farmer Margee Green who says Strain has been putting up red tape in the state’s effort to provide patients with medical marijuana and that’s hurting the ag industry…

Other action tonight, Louisiana Tech is at 5th ranked Mississippi State. ULM’s game against Northwestern State has been cancelled because of wet field conditions. Tulane hosts South Alabama.

The NBA Draft Lottery is tonight and the Pelicans have a six-percent chance of landing the top overall pick, 26-percent chance at earning a top four selection. There’s a report that says if the Knicks get the number one pick, they’ll make a trade with New Orleans to acquire Anthony Davis. The lottery is at 7:30 tonight.

LSU strength and conditioning coach Tommy Moffitt says the plan is for starting quarterback Joe Burrow to bulk up this offseason. Moffitt says Burrow wants to put on more weight, because he lost weight during last season. Moffit wouldn’t say how many pounds Burrow is looking to add.

At the state baseball tournament in Sulphur, sixth-seeded Oberlin won the Class One-A Championship with a nine to one victory over fourth seeded Kentwood today. St. Charles Catholic won the Division Two title game as the Comets defeated U-High 7-4. Later on today, it’s the Four-A state championship game as top seeded Tioga takes on Breaux Bridge. The Five-A title game is Barbe versus Sam Houston.

LSU baseball is falling in the polls, but Coach Paul Mainieri believes they can still host an NCAA Regional. Mainieri says for that to occur, the Tigers need a win tonight against UNO and then they must play well against Auburn in a series that starts on Thursday

In the Division Five title game, Northside Christian edged Runnels two to one. Later tonight, it’s the Two-A state championship as Doyle takes on Kinder. Tomorrow at 2:30, it’s the 3A title as Sterling faced South Beauregard.

Former LSU defensive tackle Davin Cotton announces he’s transferring to Southern University. The former Evangel standout played in just two games for the Tigers last season. He’s six-foot-four, 280 pounds and he was listed as the eighth best prospect in Louisiana’s 2018 class.

On Senior Day at Ruston High School, Louisiana Tech swept a doubleheader from Western Kentucky to clinch a spot in the Conference USA Tournament. The Bulldogs won the games by the final scores of six to one and eight to three. The Bulldogs got great pitching performances from senior lefties David Leal and Logan Bailey. Tech will get ready to visit fifth ranked Mississippi State.

The Ragin Cajuns completed a sweep of Georgia State on Sunday by beating Georgia State 11 to 5. Handsome Monica’s three-run homer was the big blow. The Cajuns will wrap up the regular season next weekend by visiting ULM. The Warhawks just dropped two of three to Troy.

The LSU baseball team is tied for third place in the SEC West with Ole Miss heading into the final weekend of conference play. Thanks to a three-run homer by Antoine Duplantis, the Tigers salvaged a game in their series at Arkansas on Saturday with a three to two win. LSU will host UNO on Tuesday and then Auburn, starting on Thursday. LSU is on the bubble when it comes to hosting an NCAA Regional.

LSU softball has received a number 10 national seed and they’ll host a regional this weekend at Tiger Park. The Tigers will face Monmouth on Friday afternoon. Louisiana Tech, who won the Conference USA Title is the Baton Rouge Regional too and the Tech will face Texas Tech on Friday. Despite going 50-and-4, UL-Lafayette will not host a regional. Instead the Lady Cajuns head to Oxford as a two seed in a regional hosted by Ole Miss.

Southeastern Louisiana has fallen into a three-way tie for second place after getting swept by Sam Houston State. Northwestern State and McNeese are tied for fifth place. The Cowboys split a doubleheader with Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi. UIW swept a doubleheader from the Demons. Nicholls fell behind 7-0, but came back to beat Stephen F Austin 13-7 and the Colonels own the eighth and final spot in the Southland tournament with one more weekend to go.

LSU baseball really needs a good start from Eric Walker tonight as the Tigers will look to even up their series against Arkansas. The Razorbacks routed the Bayou Bengals 14 to four last night as Arkansas hit five home runs. LSU has now allowed 45 runs over the last three games, the most in a three-game span since 1997. That team went on to win a national championship. This year’s team has lost four in a row and is four games back of the Hogs for first place in the SEC West. First pitch tonight is at 630.

A rookie mini-camp is underway for the Saints. The team announced earlier today that all five players of their 2019 draft class have signed four-year contracts. Second round pick, center Erik McCoy could be a starter next season.

Because of all of the rain, action at the the LHSAA Baseball state tournament in Sulphur has been pushed back until Sunday. Championship games will be Monday and Tuesday.

Because of the accumulation of rain and the threat of inclement weather, Louisiana Tech has made the decision to play its baseball series at Ruston High School instead of ULM. Tonight’s game will start at 6 PM. Game times for Saturday and Sunday will be announced at a later time.

Another brutal baseball game for LSU fans to endure last night as for the third straight game the Tigers gave up more ten runs in a loss. Last night, Arkansas hit five home runs in a 14-4 route of LSU. The Tigers have given up 45 runs over their last three games. That’s the most in a three-game span since 1997. Starter Ma’Khail Hilliard gave up six runs over three innings and Riggs Threadgill gave up six runs, including a grand slam, in one inning of relief. Eric Walker will try to right the ship tonight in Game two of the series from Baum Stadium in Fayetteville.

After beating LSU 12-to-1 on Tuesday, Louisiana Tech begins a weekend series tonight against Western Kentucky. The games will be played at ULM, because of tornado damage to the Bulldogs home steadium. Tech is in fourth place in Conference USA, while the Hilltoppers are in third.

The Ragin Cajuns have a chance to pick up some wins this weekend as they host Georgia State. The Panthers are the worst team in the Sun Belt. ULM is at Troy. Tulane visits Houston. The Green Wave are in second place in the American Atheltic Conference.

In the Southland, Southeastern Louisiana and Sam Houston State are tied for first place and they are scheduled for a three-game series in Hammond this weekend. The Lions started the year with a 2-8 record and Matt Riser’s team now has a chance to win a conference championship….
