The Saints are 5-0 with Teddy Bridgewater as their starter after beating Chicago 36-25 yesterday.

The 49ers still have the best record in the N-F-C. San Francisco defeated Washington nine to nothing in a game that was played during a driving rain storm. San Francisco, who is 6-0, will face a good test this Sunday when they host Carolina, who just enjoyed its bye weekend.

The SEC has ended the speculation that the LSU-Alabama game will be played in primetime. The league announced today that the Tigers and Crimson Tide will have a 2:30 kick-off. 2010 was the last time these two SEC West rivals played each other in the afternoon.

For the first time in five seasons, Louisiana Tech beat its biggest Conference USA Rival as the Bulldogs downed Southern Miss 45-30 to improve to 6-1 overall, 3-and-0 in Conference USA. Star junior cornerback Amik Robertson had three interceptions and the Thibodaux native says he was fired up to go against Quez Watkins, one of the best receivers in the league

The Saints stretched their winning streak to five straight with a dominating performance in Chicago beating the Bears 36-25 yesterday. Wide receiver Michael Thomas had nine catches for 131 yards as Teddy Bridgewater threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns. The Saints went into Chicago yesterday without Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara and Jared Cook and completely dominated the Bears, winning 36-25. Latavius Murray filled in very nicely for Kamara and rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns. New Orleans returns home next Sunday to host the suddenly hot Cardinals, who have won three in a row. The Cardinals beat the Giants 27-21 yesterday in New York. In the NFC South, the Falcons lost again, Rams beat Atlanta 37-10.

LSU had a season-low in points with 36 and total yards with 413 but it was another easy victory for the 2nd ranked Fighting Tigers as they defeated Mississippi State 36-13. Quarterback Joe Burrow threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns. He broke the Tigers single-season record for touchdowns thrown as he has 27. Burrow says the hard work in the offseason has led to what is already a record-breaking season…

There will be another Top 10 showdown in Tiger Stadium Saturday. In the latest A-P poll, Auburn is ranked 9th as the War Eagles are coming off a 51-10 win over Arkansas.

Speaking of blow outs, Appalachian State trounced ULM 52-7. Memphis also crushed Tulane 47-17, Louisiana Tech improved to 3-0 in Conference USA with 45-30 win over the Golden Eagles.

Rookie sensation Zion Williamson’s regular season debut with the Pelicans will have to wait. ESPN is reporting Williamson will miss the regular season and several weeks after that with a knee injury. There’s been no word on how Williamson hurt his knee. The Pels conclude the preseason tonight with a game against the New York Knicks.

The Saints will head to the Windy City for a Sunday matchup with the Chicago Bears. The Black and Gold have won four in a row with Teddy Bridgewater as their starting QB. Sean Payton says Bridgewater’s performance showcases the aspects of his demeanor that the coach appreciates at the QB position.

The Golden Eagles are 4-and-2 overall and they are coming off a 45-27 win over North Texas. Southern Miss QB Jack Abraham threw for 421 yards and three touchdowns in that game and Coach Skip Holtz says his defense will be tested…

Two people were shot including an officer during a shooting that occurred overnight on the Grambling State campus. The search for the shooter is ongoing after he fled from the Hodby Assembly Center. Media reports say an officer responding to the scene was shot in the leg and another student was also injured.

The Ragin Cajuns had their running game revved up last night as U-L Lafayette defeated Arkansas State 37-20. Raymond Calais and Elijah Mitchell each found the end zone twice. Calais had 144 yards rushing on just eight carries, while Mitchell carried the rock 23 times for 109 yards. UL improves to 5-2 overall, 2-and-1 in the Sun Belt.

Second-ranked LSU begins the second half of the regular season tomorrow against Mississippi State with a 6-0 record. The Tigers have put themselves in the conversation as a possible playoff team. Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire says they are trying to live in the moment…

New Orleans has provided themselves some insurance if Kamara can’t play as they’ve signed Zach Zenner. The 28-year-old played with the Detroit Lions last season and rushed for 265 yards and three touchdowns.

Tonight on ESPN-U, the Ragin Cajuns will face Arkansas State in a big Sun Belt Western Division match-up. And LSU freshman Trendon Watford has been on the watch list for the Karl Malone Award, which goes to the top power forward in Division One men’s college basketball.

Zenner has 685 yards rushing and 27 catches during his career that started in Detroit in 2015.
