The Nicholls St men’s basketball team came from behind to beat the Houston Baptist Huskies by 15 points in route to an 83-68 victory on Wednesday.  The Colonels were led offensively by Jaylen Fornes, who had a season-high 23 points.

The McNeese State Cowboys got a win a close over Southeastern Louisiana on the hardwood last night 95-91.  McNeese improves to 9-11 after the victory.

Northwestern men’s basketball lost to Stephen F. Austin last night 83-57.

The New Orleans Pelicans grabbed a 128-118 victory over the Detroit Pistons last night.  Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram both had big games as Zion poured in 32 points while Ingram added 27 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 8 assists.  The Pels are 14-17 on the season after the win.  New Orleans has a quick turnaround as they travel to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks tonight at 8:30.

The LSU baseball team got a victory over ULL last night as they beat the Ragin Cajuns 11-2.  The Tigers capped off the night by scoring 5 runs in the ninth inning.  Second baseman Cade Doughty had a good night at the plate as he went 3 for 6 with two RBI’s.  Freshman Brody Drost homered in his only at-bat.  Freshman pitcher Will Hellmers was given the win after going two innings with no hits, no walks, and two strikeouts.  LSU will take on Youngstown State tomorrow while the Cajuns will play a weekend series against Rice.

Southeastern Louisiana will travel to Arizona to take on the number 19 ranked Wildcats in a three-game series on the diamond starting tonight.  The Lions come into the matchup with a perfect 3-0 record.

The 11th ranked LSU baseball team clobbered the Ragin Cajuns last night eleven to two as U-L Lafayette’s three-game winning streak came to an end. Cade Doughty and Gavin Dugas each had three hits and Brody Drost hit his first home run. The Cajuns committed four errors.

One day after learning he made the NBA All-Star team, Zion Williamson scored 32 points as the Pelicans defeated the Pistons 128 to 118 at the Smoothie King Center last night. Brandon Ingram had 27 points for New Orleans, which improved its record to 14 and 17. The Pels are at the Bucks tonight.

McNeese basketball kept its hopes alive to make the Southland Tournament as the Cowboys defeated Southeastern Louisiana 95-91. Keyshawn Feazell had 22 points. The Cowboys will host Houston Baptist on Saturday. They are battling with the Huskies for the final spot in the Southland Tourney. The Lions are at Northwestern State on Saturday.

Northwestern State committed 19 turnovers and lost to Stephen F Austin 83-57. The loss snapped the Demons six-game winning streak.

In basketball, ULM won its season opener as they downed Northwestern State five to two. Wiley Cleland had three hits and drove in three for the Warhawks.

LSU announces football spring practice will begin March 16th and the spring game will be April 17th.

According to the Advocate and the USA Today, Les Miles was accused of sexual harassment when he was the head coach at LSU. The USA Today story says an internal investigation looked into whether Miles harassed a student and made sexist comments about others. The Advocate reports Miles offered a secret settlement to an LSU student. Miles attorney said that a description of a settlement is discernibly incomplete and inaccurate. And his attorneys also say if the results of the investigation are released, Miles would immediately suffer a serious injury to his reputation. LSU says it’s not in a position to comment on the allegations.

The Pelicans are back in action tonight at home against the Pistons coming off the high of a miraculous come from behind win over Boston on Sunday. New Orleans came back from 24 down against the Celtics and coach Stan Van Gundy says the game was a great reminder that modern NBA games can change quickly…

The LSU men’s basketball team lost to the Georgia Bulldogs last night 91-78.  The Tigers shot just 26 percent from three-point range and 59 percent from the foul line.  Here’s coach Will Wade on the performance.

The Pelicans will take on the Detroit Pistons tonight at 7.  The Pels are 13-17 on the season while the Pistons are 9-22.

Southeastern Louisiana and McNeese will face off on the hardwood tonight at 7, and Northwestern will host Stephen F. Austin.

Tonight, the LSU baseball team will travel to Lafayette to take on the Ragin Cajuns.  LSU is 2-1 after their opening weekend series against Air Force and Tech, while ULL sits at 3-1 after a weekend series versus Tulane and a win against Louisiana Tech last night.  LSU coach Paul Mainieri says that for now freshman Jordan Thompson will start at third base as he replaces Will Hellmers, who has struggled in the field.

The Tulane baseball team took down UNO last night by a score of 7-1.  Shortstop Collin Burns went 2-4 at the plate with 3 RBI’s while freshman right-hander Zach Devito was credited with the win.  The Green Wave improved to 2-2 after the win while UNO also sits at 2-2.

The ULM baseball team will play its season opener tonight against Northwestern St.

LSU was playing its best basketball of the season heading into last night’s game against Georgia. But the Tigers put together what coach Will Wade called an embarrassing performance in a 91-78 loss to the Bulldogs. The Bayou Bengals only had 29 points in the second half. Darius Days and Trendon Watford were a combined 0-for-9 from three-point territory.

The Pelicans Zion Williamson has been named an All-Star reserve. The 20-year-old is averaging 25 points a game and shooting nearly 62-percent for the field. Brandon Ingram who made the All-Star team last year didn’t make it this season. New Orleans Coach Stan Van Gundy says both players deserve the recognition..

It didn’t take long for LSU right fielder Dylan Crews to win his first SEC Freshman of the Week honor. The Florida native had an outstanding debut in his first three games to win the honor as he went 7 for 12 at the plate with two homers, 3 RBI and two runs scored. In other college baseball action last night, Tulane defeated UNO seven to one. ULM opens its season tonight by hosting Northwestern State.

Grambling’s spring football opener against Prairie View A-and-M has been moved from this Saturday to March 13th. That’s because’s last week’s winter weather and the impact it had on the Cotton Bowl. The game will now be played at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

The LSU men’s basketball team heads into tonight’s game against Georgia playing some of its best basketball of the season. The Tigers have won three in a row and all of them have been double-digit victories. A win tonight would improve LSU’s record to 10-4 in the SEC and put them in sole possession of second place. Georgia has a 6-and-9 record.

The U-L Lafayette men’s basketball team’s victory over Texas-Arlington last night gave Coach Bob Marlin 118 wins in the Sun Belt, which is the most league history.

ULM beat Little Rock for a second straight night as they topped the Trojans 68-64.

Tomorrow, Northwestern State seeks its seventh straight win when they host Stephen F Austin. Southeastern Louisiana can clinch a spot in the Southland Tournament with a victory over McNeese. The Cowboys are one game out of the eighth spot for the postseason league tournament, with four games left.

U-L Lafayette’s Cedric Russell had 26 points as the Cajuns defeated Texas-Arlington 76-74. Russell was five of seven from three-point territory.

Northwestern State won its sixth straight as the Demons knocked off Houston Baptist 86-80. Freshman Carvell Teasett has a career-high 25 points to lead the way for Northwestern.

Southeastern Louisiana won at the buzzer to clip Corpus Christi 78-75. Byron Smith hit a three-pointer with less than a second left to win the game.

The Pelicans are off today after pulling off a stunning 24-point come from behind win over the Celtics yesterday. That’s the largest comeback victory in franchise history. Brandon Ingram had 33 points in the 120 to 115 overtime win. New Orleans hosts Detroit on Wednesday.

For the first time since 1994, the LSU men’s basketball team hit the century mark in an SEC game as the Bayou Bengals blew out Auburn 104-80 on Saturday.  Five players scored in double figures, led by freshman Cam Thomas and his 27 points.  Trendon Watford had a double-double and so did Josh LeBlanc who had 12 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.  Coach Will Wade says it was a great team effort.

The New Orleans Pelicans grabbed an overtime win over the Boston Celtics last night 120-115.  The Pels were led offensively by Brandon Ingram who poured in a game-high 33 points.  Zion Williamson added a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds.

The ULM basketball team got a 78-66 victory over Little Rock yesterday in Monroe.

It was a tough day at the ballpark for the LSU baseball team as they lost to Air Force for the first time in school history yesterday 6 to 5.  The loss drops LSU’s record to 1-1 after winning the season opener on Saturday 6 to 1.  The Tigers only have 14 hits after two games and coach Paul Mainieri says the hitting will need to improve.

All three games against ULL and Tulane went to extra innings, with the Ragin Cajuns winning the series two games to one after a 9-7 victory yesterday after 12 innings.

The Pelicans pulled off the largest comeback in franchise history yesterday as they beat Boston 120 to 115 in overtime. New Orleans trailed by 24 points in the third quarter, but they held the Celtics to 21 points in the fourth quarter. Brandon Ingram had 33 points and Zion Williamson had 28.

LSU basketball won by 24 points on Saturday, beating Auburn 104-80. The Tigers held Auburn to 37-percent shooting and for the third consecutive game, Coach Will Wade’s team shot better than 50-percent…
