The LSU men’s basketball team will take on the Vanderbilt Commodores at home tonight and hope to end its two-game losing streak. LSU has lost its last two games due in large part to poor shooting.  Forward Darius Days has struggled in those losses, putting up a total of 4 points combined in those games.  Head Coach Will Wade says he knows Days will get out of his shooting slump.

If LSU can get a win tonight, it will help the team’s chances of receiving a double-bye in the SEC tournament, which is awarded to the top four teams.

The New Orleans Pelicans got a big 129-124 win against the Utah Jazz last night, a team that has the best record in the NBA.  Forwards Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson each poured in 26 points while guard Lonzo Ball added 23 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 8 assists.

The Tulane men’s basketball team will take on Wichita State tomorrow at 5 p.m. The Green Wave are 9-11 on the season.

Because of the rain and cold, tonight’s LSU-Nicholls baseball game in Baton Rouge will be moved to 2:00 tomorrow. The Fighting Tigers will host Southern later in the day at 6:30 PM. Through seven games the Tigers , are hitting over three-hundred on the season.  Hitting Coach Eddie Smith says the team does a good job of feeding off of each other.

The Ragin Cajuns and Louisiana Tech will still play each other tonight at 6 p.m at Russo Park. UL-Lafayette is 6-2 after sweeping Rice, while the Bulldogs are 4-2 after sweeping Southern this past weekend.

In college basketball last night, Nicholls knocked off Northwestern State 87-71. UNO clinched a spot in the Southland Tournament with an 88-72 win over UIW. In the SWAC, Mississippi Valley State upset Grambling 67-63.

After two straight road losses the LSU men’s basketball team will take on the Vanderbilt Commodores at home tonight.  Vanderbilt is just 3-11 in SEC play but coach Will Wade says the Commodores are better than their record shows.

The New Orleans Pelicans got a big 129-124 win against the Utah Jazz last night, a team that has the best record in the NBA.  Forwards Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson each poured in 26 points while guard Lonzo Ball added 23 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 8 assists.  The Pels were very efficient on offense, as they were 56 percent shooting from the floor and an impressive 63 percent on three-pointers.  New Orleans will host the Chicago Bulls tomorrow at 7 p.m.

The Grambling State men’s basketball team lost a close to Mississippi Valley State yesterday 67-63.

The LSU baseball team will take on Nicholls tonight at 6:30 after beating the Colonels 14-0 on Saturday.  The Tigers are a young team and already have a number of freshmen that are making an immediate impact.  Hitting Coach Eddy Smith says he’s not surprised because he knew this freshman class would be special.

Freshman left-hander Javen Coleman will get the start on the mound tonight for the Tigers.  Coleman pitched three and two-thirds of an inning against Louisiana Tech and had 7 strikeouts in his only outing with the Tigers.

The Ragin Cajuns baseball team has won three straight games and will host Louisiana Tech tonight at 6 p.m. Right-handed Pitcher Connor Cooke will start for the Cajuns tonight while left-hander Kyle Griffen takes the mound for the Bulldogs.  Cooke’s last outing was a loss to LSU, he is 0-2 on the year.  Griffen has only pitched three innings for the Bulldogs and has a 0-0 record.

The Pelicans pulled of their biggest win of the season last night as they defeated the Utah Jazz 129 to 124 as Zion Williamson led the way with 26 points and 10 rebounds. The Jazz had a five point lead at halftime, but Williamson scored 15 points in the third quarter to give New Orleans the lead for good. Brandon Ingram also had 26 points and five assists.

The LSU men’s basketball team looks to snap a two game losing streak tonight when they host Vanderbilt, who has the worst record in the SEC at three and eleven. A loss against the Commodores could put the Tigers back on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

The Southland Conference has announced its expanding its men’s and women’s basketball tournaments from eight to ten teams. In action last night, Nicholls knocked off Northwestern State 87-71. In the SWAC, Mississippi Valley State upset Grambling 67-63.

In the latest D-1 baseball poll, the top four teams are from the SEC. Arkansas is number one followed by Vanderbilt, Mississippi State and Ole Miss. LSU is ranked 11th. Through seven games, the Tigers have hit 15 home runs. Drew Bianco has two homers in eight at-bats. Bianco entered the transfer portal in the offseason and he says the experience motivated him….

Also tonight, the Cajuns host Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs are coming off a sweep over Southern, while U-L Lafayette swept Rice.

Sun Belt football teams released their schedules for next season. UL-Lafayette is not scheduled to play Coastal Carolina, while ULM finishes its season by visiting LSU and the Cajuns.

The LSU men’s basketball team had a five-point lead at Arkansas on Saturday, but played poorly in the second half and fell behind by 20 before losing to the 20th ranked Razorbacks 83-75.  Coach Will Wade says it was a tale of two halves.

The 2021 Sun Belt men’s basketball tournament is scheduled for later this week from March 5to 8 at the Pensacola Bay Center.  ULM will play South Alabama in the first round on Friday, March 5th at 5:30.  ULL earned a first-round bye and the Ragin Cajuns will take on the winner of the ULM-South Alabama game in round two.

Due to the difficulties of playing through the Covid-19 pandemic, the Southland Conference has expanded the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments from eight teams to 10.

The Ragin Cajuns baseball team swept its weekend series against Rice as the team got a 7-3 win on Friday night before winning 5-3 on Saturday then wrapped things up with a 6-3 victory over the Owls on Sunday.

Is Saints quarterback Drew Brees’ retiring? Still, no announcement from the 42-year-old and his longtime trainer Todd Durkin posted on Instagram a video of Brees pushing a weight sled up and down a parking lot.

The LSU men’s basketball team enters the final week of the regular season in fourth place in the SEC. The top four teams receive a double-bye in the SEC Tournament. TheTigers host last-place Vanderbilt tomorrow night.

Louisiana Tech men’s basketball recorded two blowout victories over the weekend beating Rice 101-57 and 79-58. Before Saturday’s game, Tech celebrated the collegiate careers of the six senior Bulldog basketball players who have led the team to a 19-6 record this season. The 11th ranked LSU Tigers got another dominating performance from Jaden Hill and the Bayou Bengals hit four home runs in a six to two win over Youngstown State. Hill pitched six shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out four. Cade Beloso and Cade Doughty both homered and drove in two runs.

Louisiana Tech opened its new J-C Love Park with a nine to two win over Southern. Parker Bates drove in five runs for the Bulldogs.

The Ragin Cajuns beat Rice seven to three. Freshman Hayden Durke struck out nine over five innings for his first win.

U-N-O scored seven runs in the sixth inning and beat U-L-M seven to six. Arizona outscored Southeastern Louisiana 13-11 and Tarleton blanked Northwestern State three to nothing, McNeese shutout Prairie View five to nothing and Nicholls knocked off Youngstown State seven to six.

LSU will play both Nicholls and Youngstown State today.

The LSU men’s basketball team will take on a red-hot Arkansas team on the road today. The Tigers easily won the previous matchup 92-76 against the Razorbacks but coach Will Wade says they’re a different team now.

Arkansas has won eight straight SEC games and tipoff is at 1 PM.

Last night, Louisiana Tech hit 17 three-pointers and defeated Rice 101-57. That’s three in a row for the Bulldogs. The Cajuns also won their third straight last night as they defeated Little Rock 66-61. ULM fell to Texas State 58-49.

There are college football games in the state today…Nicholls hosts Lamar at 3 PM. McNeese faces U-I-W at noon and Southeastern Louisiana is at Sam Houston for a top 25 matchup in the F-C–S.

After not playing last week, Louisiana Tech hosts Rice tonight at 6:30. The Bulldogs are 10-4 in league play, while the Owls are 6-amd-8.

Tomorrow in the Southland, Southeastern is at Northwestern, Nicholls visits U-N-O and McNeese plays its first home game since January 20th when they host Houston Baptist.

Tonight the Louisiana Tech baseball team will play its first game at the new J-C Love Field. Their previous stadium was destroyed by a tornado in 2019. The New Orleans Pelicans lost a close one last night to the Milwaukee Bucks 129-125.  The Pels shot 50 from the floor as a team but couldn’t quite pull out the victory.  Zion Williamson had 34 points on the night but only shot five free throws despite playing in the paint most of the night.  Head Coach Stan Van Gundy voiced his displeasure on the number of fouls committed on his young star that weren’t called.

The Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team will play its first game since getting a victory over UAB on February 13th when they host the Rice Owls tonight at 6:30.

The Ragin Cajuns men’s basketball team will travel to Arkansas to take on Little Rock tonight at 6:30.

The Southern Jaguars will kickoff the 2021 spring season tonight as they go on the road to take on the Alabama State Hornets at 6 p.m.

The LSU baseball team is 3-1 after the first week of play and has shown the ability to put up runs.  Freshman outfielder Dylan Crews has been a bright spot so far, batting .444 with 2 home runs through the first four games.  Coach Paul Mainieri says he’s not surprised by Crews’ early success.

LSU will host a weekend tournament and will play its first game against Youngstown State tonight at 7.  Nicholls State will also be in Baton Rouge for the tournament and will play Youngstown in the early game at 12:30.

The Ragin Cajuns baseball team will host Rice in a three-game weekend series beginning tonight at 6 p.m.  The Cajuns will look to bounce back from their loss to LSU.

The ULM baseball team will travel to New Orleans to take on UNO for the team’s first weekend series of the season.  Game one between the Warhawks and Privateers will take place tonight at 6:30.

The Pelicans lost a tough game in Milwaukee last night falling to the Bucks 129 to 125. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 38 points for Milwaukee and Khris Middleton added 21. Zion Williamson had 34 points and Brandon Ingram scored 23 for New Orleans. Pels Coach Stan Van Gundy is impressed the Bucks didn’t commit a foul in the fourth quarter and Williamson only shot five free throws.

Seattle Quarterback Russell Wilson is reportedly not demanding a trade, but his agent tells ESPN that if Wilson did get traded, he would like to play for either the Cowboys, Raiders, Bears, or Saints.

There will be a lot of college football to take in tomorrow, McNeese returns to Cowboy Stadium to host UIW, Nicholls takes on Lamar in Thibodaux, Southeastern Louisiana is at Sam Houston in a matchup of two teams ranked in the F-C-S Top 25. And Southern is at Alabama State tonight.

LSU baseball will host Youngstown State tonight at Alex Box Stadium. Tigers freshman right fielder Dylan Crews is off to a great start as he’s 8 for 18 at the plate with two home runs and three runs driven in. Crews had a chance to enter the MLB draft but chose to play college baseball at LSU…

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has not requested a trade but says that if a trade would occur, the Saints would be one of the four teams he would consider being dealt to.  This deal would like have to include multiple first round draft picks and a current player on the Saints’ roster.  The other teams Wilson would approve of being dealt to are the Cowboys, Raiders, and Bears.

The Advocate and USA Today both have published reports that former LSU football coach Les Miles was accused of sexual harassment of student workers.  The Advocate reports an investigation was conducted in 2013.  A report is expected to be released next month on how LSU handled sexual misconduct cases from 2016 to 2018.

The LSU baseball team got a victory over ULL last night as they beat the Ragin Cajuns 11-2.  The Tigers capped off the night by scoring 5 runs in the ninth inning.  Second baseman Cade Doughty had a good night at the plate as he went 3 for 6 with two RBI’s.  Freshman Brody Drost homered in his only at-bat.  Freshman pitcher Will Hellmers was given the win after going two innings with no hits, no walks, and two strikeouts.

The New Orleans Pelicans grabbed a 128-118 victory over the Detroit Pistons last night.  Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram both had big games as Zion poured in 32 points while Ingram added 27 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 8 assists.  The Pels are 14-17 on the season after the win.  New Orleans has a quick turnaround as they travel to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks tonight at 8:30.

The Nicholls St men’s basketball team came from behind to beat the Houston Baptist Huskies by 15 points in route to an 83-68 victory on Wednesday.  The Colonels were led offensively by Jaylen Fornes, who had a season-high 23 points.  The team is now 14-6 on the year.

The McNeese State Cowboys got a win a close over Southeastern Louisiana on the hardwood last night 95-91.  McNeese improves to 9-11 after the victory.

The SEC has announced that LSU will wrap up its basketball season on the road against Missouri on March 6.

Northwestern men’s basketball lost to Stephen F. Austin last night 83-57.
