Tre Morgan had four hits, including a two-run triple in the eighth inning to put the game away as LSU opened a three-game series at Auburn with an eight to three win on the Plains. Morgan leads the team in hitting with a .375 average and the Tigers improved their league record to 8-and-14. Game two is tonight at 7 and A-J Labas will start on the hill for the Tigers.

The LSU Board of Supervisors has approved new contracts for head women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey and wide receiver coach Mickey Joseph. Mulkey has an eight-year deal that will pay her two-point-five million dollars this year. Joseph’s two-year contract extension will pay him a half-million dollars a year. And the school has a new president, William Tate the fourth becomes the first Black leader of the school.

The Pelicans are at Philadelphia tonight. Brandon Ingram will not play because of a sprained ankle. The Pels are a 1.5 games back of San Antonio for the final spot in the play-in tournament.

Today begins the final home series of the season for the ULM Warhawks who host Texas-Arlington. The Warhawks will recognize their seniors who are wrapping up their collegiate careers. Head Coach Mike Federico

LSU sophomore quarterback T-J Finley has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Finley was 2-and-3 last season as a true freshman starter and threw 941 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions. USA Today Network, LSU Beat Reporter Glen Guilbeau says Finley showed some promise, but he wasn’t consistent enough…

Calvary Baptist Quarterback Landry Lyddy announced on Twitter that he has committed to Louisiana Tech. Lyddy led the Cavaliers to a Division Four state championship last year as he threw for 35-hundred yards, 43 touchdowns and three interceptions.

The Ragin Cajuns have announced they will play Michigan State in East Lansing in September of 2024.

The LSU baseball team begins a three-game series tonight at Auburn. The latest projections for the upcoming NCAA Tournament do not show the Tigers as one of the 64 teams making a regional. But if LSU can rack up some wins, they can still get in the NCAA Tournament, based on their strong strength of schedule. LSU reliever Devin Fontenot says they control their own fate…

LSU Quarterback TJ Finley has reportedly entered the transfer portal.  Finley started five games for the Tigers as a freshman last season, throwing for 941 yards with 5 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.  Finley struggled in the spring game and appeared to be behind Max Johnson and Myles Brennan on the depth chart heading into fall camp.

Ragin Cajuns guard Devin Butts has entered his name into the transfer portal.  Butts appeared in 24 games for the Cajuns last season as a freshman, with two starts.  The 6’5 guard averaged 6.4 points per game and shot 37 percent from the field last year.

Also, LSU big-man Josh Gray has entered the transfer portal.

New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram will miss Friday’s game against the Philadelphia 76er’s due to a left low ankle sprain that he suffered against Golden State on Tuesday.  Ingram is averaging 23.8 points per game this season.  Tipoff for the game is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Last night the Southeastern Louisiana baseball team knocked off 20th ranked Southern Miss five to three. Seven Lions pitchers combined for the win and held the Golden Eagles to three hits.

Longtime Louisiana Tech SID Malcolm Butler has been named the new voice of Bulldog football and men’s basketball replacing Tech Hall of Famer Dave Nitz. Nitz has scaled back his duties to just calling baseball games. Butler has spent the last 22 years of his life working in La Tech Athletics.

LSU catcher Hayden Travinski will miss the remainder of the season as the Shreveport product had surgery today on a torn UCL in his throwing elbow. Coach Paul Mainieri on the injury.

Travinski has appeared in 29 games this season, hitting .271 with four home runs and 13 RBIs. Tomorrow, LSU begins a three-game series at Auburn. The first pitch is at 6:30 and the game can be seen on ESPN-U.

Tonight, ULM is at Jackson State. The Warhawks have won the last four games played between the two teams, including a matchup in Monroe that was won by ULM 18-6 earlier this season.

Southeastern Louisiana concludes a nine-game road trip tonight as the Lions visit 20th ranked Southern Miss.

An effort to increase hunting and fishing licenses in Louisiana has cleared its first legislative hurdle. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Secretary Jack Montoucet says a Conversation Fund has helped keep license fees at the same level for 20 years, but that fund is nearly out of money and it’s come to a point where they need more dollars…

Lonzo Ball scored a career-high 33 points and the Pelicans defeated Golden State 108-103 last night. They were able to pull out the victory even though starters Brandon Ingram and Steven Adams left the game with injuries in the third quarter. New Orleans’ next game is Friday at Philadelphia.

La Tech announced today that longtime SID Malcolm Butler will replace Dave Nitz as the voice of the bulldogs for football and men’s basketball. Nitz has scaled back his duties to just calling Tech baseball games.

The Pelicans lost to Golden State on Monday but got some payback last night as they beat the Warriors 108-103.  Zion Williamson has 23 points and 12 rebounds for the Pels but it was Lonzo Ball who led the way, as he scored a career-high 33 points and bounced back after a poor performance on Monday.

The LSU basketball team has landed a commitment from former Illinois guard Adam Miller.  Miller was a full time starter for the Fighting Illini this past season and averaged 8.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.  He is the third transfer player that LSU has added this off-season.  Also, Ragin Cajuns guard Mylik Wilson has entered the NCAA transfer portal. The former Rayville star has started 50 games at U-L Lafayette and last season averaged nearly 13 points and six rebounds a game as a sophomore.

The LSU baseball team will be without catcher Hayden Travinski for the remainder of the season.  Travinski will have surgery on a torn UCL in his thowing elbow.  Here’s coach Paul Mainieri on the injury.

Louisiana Tech has a new voice of the bulldogs.  Beginning July 1st, Malcolm Butler will begin serving as the play-by-play voice for Bulldog football and men’s basketball.  Butler has been a member of Louisiana Tech’s athletic department and the university’s Associate Athletic Director in charge of athletic communications for 22 years.

New LSU Women’s Basketball head coach Kim Mulkey implored lawmakers to pass legislation allowing student-athletes to receive compensation for their name, image, and likeness. Mulkey says this legislation would allow those student-athletes to do things that are transformative in their lives.

Mulkey made the comments when she was given the opportunity to address the Louisiana House. The N-I-L bill has received approval from one Senate committee and is waiting to be heard by the Senate Finance committee.

Dylan Crews and Drew Bianco hit home runs as the LSU Tigers defeated Southern 10 to 2 last night. But the highlight of the night came from LSU pitcher Matthew Beck who has been hurt most of the year with an arm injury. Beck stepped up to the plate as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and delivered a single in what is likely his last appearance in an LSU uniform. The Tigers begin an SEC series with Auburn on Thursday.

After sweeping a four-game series from Middle Tennessee, La Tech moved up four spots in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll to 14. The Bulldogs have won a school record 10 straight road games. Tech is at FIU this weekend.

Tulane’s record is up to 24-14 and the Green Wave are ranked 22nd by Perfect Game and 24th by Collegiate Baseball. The Green Wave are at 13th ranked East Carolina this weekend.

ULM’s Trace Henry has been named Sun Belt Baseball Player of the week after going 10 for 16 at the plate with seven runs scored and two RBIs. The Warhawks are at Jackson State tomorrow.

The Tigers are 7-and-14 in league play and they have three series left, none of the SEC teams left on their schedule are ranked. But Coach Paul Mainieri doesn’t see an easy road ahead…

Former LSU golfer Sam Burns won his first PGA Tour tournament yesterday as he claimed victory at the Valspar Championship in Florida.
