ULM Quarterback Rhett Rodriguez is in the hospital after suffering a lung injury in the Warhawks upset win over Troy. No word on when he’ll be released.

Pelicans All-Star Zion Williamson is recovering from foot surgery, but the team believes Williamson will be ready when the regular season starts on October 20th. Zion fractured his foot while working out on his own over the summer.

For the first time since 1995, the Saints won in Foxborough as the Black and Gold defeated the New England Patriots 28-13 yesterday. QB Rhett Rodriguez threw a TD pass. But Rodriguez suffered a lung injury and according to his dad and offensive coordinator Rich Rodriguez, Rhett is in the ICU at St. Francis Medical Center. His length of stay in the hospital is unknown.

La Tech beat North Texas 24-17 without injured starting quarterback Austin Kendall on Saturday night. The Bulldogs will visit 23rd ranked North Carolina State this Saturday.

Both teams are 1-and-1 on the season and the Saints are coming off a loss. Since the start of the 2017 season, the Saints are 10-and-3 following a loss. Kick-off is at noon.

Through three games this season, LSU’s opponent this Saturday, Mississippi State leads the SEC in passing offense as they are averaging 361 yards a game. They threw for over 600 yards against LSU last year. But the Tigers didn’t have All-American cornerback Derek Stingley. He suffered an illness hours before the game and couldn’t play.

UL Lafayette begins Sun Belt Play on Saturday as they will visit Georgia Southern. The Cajuns are coming off a 49-14 win over Ohio. It’s a game where they rushed for 310 yards. Coach Billy Napier liked what he saw from his ground attack…

The LHSAA Executive Committee has approved sites for the select football state championships. Division one and three title games will be played on December 3rd at Tulane’s Yulman Stadium, while Division Two and four will be played at Cajun Field in Lafayette on December 11th. The non-select title games will take place in the Caesars superdome on December 10th and 11th.

According to a report by Christian Clark of the Advocate and Times-Picayune, there’s a major rift between Pelicans’ executive vice president of basketball operations, David Griffin, and All-star Zion Williamson. There’s been tension since Zion’s rookie season as the team was cautious with Williamson after he injured his knee in the preseason.

The Saints are at New England on Sunday and instead of facing Tom Brady, New Orleans is preparing for rookie quarterback Mac Jones who has only thrown one touchdown pass, but he’s completing 74-percent of his passes and he’s not been intercepted. Coach Sean Payton says Jones processes information fast and the ball comes out quick…

Coach O also says it’s an open competition at left tackle as the Tigers look for a fill-in for the injured Cam Wire.

ULM has scored just one touchdown in two games heading into Saturday’s Sun Belt opener against Troy. The Warhawks have started Rhett Rodriguez in the first two games at QB, but Chandler Rogers played in the second half in Saturday’s win against Jackson State. Rogers only completed one pass but helped the offense by running the ball. Coach Terry Bowden has not announced a starter for Troy

Three McNeese football players have been suspended after they were arrested for their role in a shooting near the campus on September sixth. Lathan Adams, Edwards Gilds and Travis Walker are facing numerous charges. They are freshmen defensive backs.

LSU running back Ty Davis Price did not practice yesterday, but Coach Ed Orgeron said today he should play Saturday at Mississippi State. Orgeron also believes safety Jay Ward will suit up against the Bulldogs. He’s missed the last two 2.5 games since suffering an injury and is needed going up against Mike Leach’s air raid offense.

Mississippi State Quarterback Will Rogers is coming off a game where he completed 50 of 67 passes and he’s completed 75-percent of his passes for 1,083, eight touchdowns and one interception.
