We might have to get used to the idea of the Cincinnati Bengals being a good football team. Former LSU Tiger Joe Burrow rallied the Bengals back from a 14-0 nothing halftime deficit to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-21 on a last-second field goal. Burrow threw for 348 yards and two TDs.

High school football last night…Ouachita Christian over St. Frederick 25-7, Alexandria beat Winona, Mississippi 41-15 and Captain Shreve pounded Parkway 46-21.

LSU welcomes 22nd ranked Auburn into Tiger Stadium tomorrow night. It’s been since 1999 that Auburn has won in Baton Rouge, a 41-7 victory over the Tigers that night.

A report from the Advocate-Times Picuyane and Fox 8 TV in New Orleans says the Saints and Pelicans will be sold when owner Gayle Benson passes. Proceeds from the sale would go to local charities and team executives would make sure the new owner or owners would keep the Saints and Pelicans in New Orleans. Gayle Benson is 74 and has owned both franchises since 2018 after her husband Tom Benson died.

After three games he leads all rookies in receiving yards and touchdowns, with four.

NOLA-dot-com and Fox 8 television provided details of the succession plan that will go into effect when Saints and Pelicans owner Gayle Benson passes away. The two professional sports franchises will be sold and the proceeds from those sales will go to local charities. Saints and Pelicans President Dennis Lauscha will have a say on who purchases the teams with the goal of making sure they remain in New Orleans.

Austin Kendall did not play in last weekend’s win over North Texas because of medical reasons, but Coach Skip Holtz believes Kendall will be back this weekend, but another signal-caller is out…

Jeff Duncan of the Advocate and Lee Zurik of Fox 8 TV in New Orleans is reporting that the Saints and Pelicans will be sold after owner Gayle Benson passes away. And the proceeds from the sale, which will be in the billions, will go to local charities. The 74-year-old Benson has been running the franchises since March 2018 following the death of her husband, Tom Benson. Team executives also say the plan is to make sure the Saints stay in New Orleans after the sale is completed.

Meanwhile, the Saints players are getting ready for the Dome Opener this Sunday against the New York Giants. Rookie linebacker Pete Werner is looking forward to learning about the Dome Field advantage the Black and Gold enjoy…

Ragin Cajuns Coach Billy Napier says starting left tackle Carlos Rubio will likely miss most of the rest of the season after suffering an injury in last Saturday’s win over Georgia Southern.

Texas A-and-M Commerce is joining the Southland Conference. The school is located 65 miles northeast of Dallas and the Lions will become official members next July. Their football team won the Division Two national championship in 2017.

LSU men’s basketball will play an exhibition against Nicholls in Thibodaux on October 23rd and the proceeds will go towards Hurricane Ida relief.

LSU’s defense had a much better performance this time around against Mississippi State compared to last season when the Tigers allowed an SEC record 623 passing yards. Nicholls Quarterback Lindsey Scott is the Southland Offensive Player of the Week. The former Zachary star accounted for more than 300 yards of offense in the Colonels win over North Alabama.

There’s been chatter that Pelicans All-Star Zion Williamson is not happy in New Orleans. But on Media Day, the former number one pick says he loves the city of New Orleans and does not want to be anywhere else. There have been reports of a riff between Williamson and David Griffen, the top basketball executive for the Pels and when the team was in the NBA bubble in the summer of 2020, Griffen tried to connect with Williamson by playing the piano for him at their hotel. The late Tony Robichaux will be inducted into the Ragin Cajuns athletics hall of fame at the end of October. Robichaux won 1,177 games during a 33-year coaching career that was cut short by his untimely death in 2019.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Saints left tackle Terron Armstead will miss multiple weeks after injuring his elbow in the first half of Sunday’s win against the Patriots. Armstead could reportedly miss three to six weeks.

The Pelicans begin training camp today but All-Star Forward Zion Williamson is recovering from offseason surgery to repair a broken foot. He’s expected to be ready when the regular season starts on October 20th. Williamson also addressed rumors he’d rather play somewhere else. Pelicans All-Star forward Zion Williamson seemed to be in a good mood when he met with the media as New Orleans opens pre-season camp. Williamson is recovering from foot surgery after breaking his foot while working out on his own. He addressed rumors that he’s unhappy by saying he loves New Orleans and also explained why he was not with his teammates when the team held voluntary workouts in Nashville…
