Broderick Fobbs told NBC Six News in Shreveport that he understands when you don’t win games, your job is at risk. Fobbs has been fired after eight seasons at Grambling.

Grambling State has decided to fire head football coach Broderick Fobbs less than two weeks before the Bayou Classic. Fobbs has led Grambling to two SWAC championships and a national championship in 2016. But Grambling didn’t win a game during the shortened spring season and is 3-and-7 this year.

The Pelicans led by 19 points in the second half, but the Washington Wizards made that lead disappear last night as New Orleans lost in the nation’s capital 105 to 100.

LSU Football Coach Ed Orgeron said today that Max Johnson will start again at quarterback this Saturday. Garrett Nussmeier took a majority of the snaps in Saturday’s loss to Arkansas and threw two interceptions and his average yards per attempt was just below six yards.

Orgeron is not happy with the play calling including an ill-timed decision to have Ty Davis Price line up at quarterback when LSU drove inside the red zone and the play resulted in a turnover when Davis couldn’t handle the snap

The Ragin Cajuns have moved up two spots in the latest A-P Top 25 poll to 22 after a 35-21 road victory over Troy on Saturday. It’s the ninth straight win for U-L Lafayette, a school record and the Cajuns also clinched home-field advantage for the Sun Belt Championship game which will be played on December 4th at 2:30. U-L is at Liberty this Saturday.

Tonight, the LSU hosts the Liberty men’s basketball team at 6 PM. Liberty has won the last three Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season and tournament titles and went 23 and six last season. E-S-P-N U will televise the game.

In other college hoops action…Nicholls is off to a 3-and-0 start, they will be challenged today when they visit eighth-ranked Baylor. Louisiana Tech hosts Jarvis Christian at 6:30. McNeese faces Champion Christian College and Northwestern State is at SMU.

The Lady Tigers basketball team lost to Florida Gulf Coast 88-74 yesterday and the LSU women’s soccer team was eliminated from the NCAA Tournament with a 3-0 loss to Memphis.

A frustrating loss for the Saints yesterday as they came up short in Tennessee in a 23-21 loss to the Titans. New Orleans is on the road again this Sunday as they face Philadelphia, who looked good beating the Broncos 30-13.

In the NFC South yesterday, Washington upset Tampa Bay 29-19, Carolina crushed the Cardinals 34-10 and Dallas dominated Atlanta 43-3.

The LSU Tigers spoiled another great performance by the defense in a 16-13 overtime loss to Arkansas. Freshman Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier played most of the game and threw for 179 yards and a touchdown, but he was also intercepted twice…

The loss means LSU will finish in last place in the SEC West and the Tigers need to win their final two games to be bowl eligible. They host ULM this Saturday.

ULM also needs to win its final two games in order to be bowl eligible, they lost to Arkansas State 27-24 on Saturday as the Red Wolves snapped an eight-game losing streak.

La Tech snapped a five-game losing streak with a 42-32 win against Charlotte, while the Cajuns won a school-record ninth straight game as U-L beat Troy 35-21. Levi Lewis threw for three TDs and ran for another.

The Saints will visit the Tennessee Titans on Sunday and the Black and Gold will be without running back Alvin Kamara. He’s been ruled out of Sunday’s game because of a knee injury. New Orleans will also be missing starting offensive tackle Terron Armstead and defensive back C-J Gardner Johnson.

At least the weather looks good for the game with temperatures in the mid-50s and no chance of rain. But Coach Sean Payton says the Titans’ home stadium is known for footing issues, so the players have been told what kind of spikes they should wear…

Chasen Hines is out for the season, while Ed Ingram will not play after taking a hard blow to the head in practice this week. ULM is a three-point favorite on Saturday when they host Arkansas State. The Red Wolves have won just one game this season, but Warhawks Coach Terry Bowden says they can’t take them lightly….

Instead of returning to Louisiana, receiver Odell Beckham is heading to L-A as the New Orleans native and former LSU star has signed a one-year deal with the Rams.

Cam Newton is back with the Panthers. Carolina signed their former number one pick to a one-year contract. The Panthers are thin at the quarterback position as starter Sam Darnold has an injured shoulder blade.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara missed practice for a second straight day yesterday and his status for Sunday’s game at Tennessee is in doubt. Mark Ingram could see more carries and he’s 20 yards away from surpassing Deuce McAllister as the franchise’s all-time leading rusher…

The high school football playoffs are underway. Five games were played last night. East Ascension defeated Southside. Huntington trounced Tioga 68-27, Lincoln Prep pounded Delhi 46-6 and Curtis and Shaw advanced in the Division one bracket. 92 more games will be played this weekend.

And the high school volleyball champions are taking place at the Cajundome in Lafayette. Five title games will take place tomorrow.

Tomorrow night, LSU hosts 25th ranked Arkansas. Coach Ed Orgeron plans to play both Max Johnson and Garrett Nussmeier at quarterback. Orgeron says after watching the two Q-B’s compete this week, Johnson has the edge.

In other action on Saturday, the Ragin Cajuns are at Troy, ULM hosts Arkansas State. Louisiana Tech clashes with Charlotte in Ruston.
