The Saints announce that the late Sam Mills will enter the team’s Ring of Honor at the Caesars Superdome when the Black and Gold hosts the Dallas Cowboys on December second. Mills was part of the team’s famed Dome Patrol and averaged more than 100 tackles per season in his nine years with the Saints.

ULM is a huge underdog heading into Saturday’s game against Liberty. The Flames are 5-and-1 and they have an outstanding quarterback in Malik Willis, who leads the team in passing and rushing…

The 11th ranked Southeastern Louisiana Lions play their first home game of the 2021 season on Saturday when they host Houston Baptist for homecoming. S-L-U is coming off a big win over Nicholls, where they put 58 points on the board.

In other action this Saturday, Nicholls is at UIW. Northwestern State hosts McNeese as both teams search for their second win of the season. Southern is at Arkansas Pine Bluff while Grambling hosts Texas Southern. Louisiana Tech returns is back from a bye week and they are at UTEP.

Another LSU starter is out for the season as a result of an injury. Coach Ed Orgeron announced today that sophomore cornerback Eli Ricks needs surgery on a nagging injury, which will end his 2021 campaign. Ricks joins Andre Anthony and Kayhson Bouttee as starters who have seen their seasons cut short due to injuries. Center Liam Shanahan was asked about losing Boutte for the rest of the season….

The Ragin Cajuns forced four turnovers last night as they easily defeated Appalachian State 41-13 for their fifth win in a row. Quarterback Levi Lewis led the offense as he threw for one touchdown and ran for another. Lewis led U-L on touchdown drives on its first three drives of the game…

Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Lattimore broke up a career-high six passes in New Orleans win over the Washington Football Team.

A week from tonight is the regular-season opener for the Pelicans, but will Zion Williamson be on the floor? Coach Willie Green said this week that the All-Star has yet to start running after breaking his foot during the summer. The Pels executive vice president David Griffin is expected to provide an update later this week.

There was a bright spot in LSU’s loss to Kentucky on Saturday. The Tigers running game finally got going as junior running back Ty Davis-Price rushed for a career-best 147 yards and two touchdowns. Davis-Price says his offensive line did the hard work…

Conference USA has reportedly asked the American Athletic Conference to consider a reorganizing plan that would lead to two new conferences split into geographic lines. But the A-A-C is reportedly not interested and has reportedly tried to take UAB away from Conference USA.

The Saints have another kicker. The team released Cody Parkey after just one game as he received an injury settlement. So New Orleans signed Brian Johnson off the Chicago Bears practice squad as Will Lutz remains on injured reserve recovering from core muscle surgery. Johnson is the fourth kicker the team has signed since Lutz’s injury.

Also in the NFL, former LSU Tiger Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been put on injured reserve by the Kansas City Chiefs. Edwards-Helaire suffered a sprained MCL in the loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.

The team announced today it will have an open practice in Thibodaux on Saturday at Stopher Gymnasium on Nicholls State’s campus. Free tickets will be devoted to high school basketball teams, first responders and youth-centered organizations.
