The LSU women’s basketball team is picked to finish third in the SEC behind South Carolina and Tennessee. The Lady Tigers will be led by Alexis Morris and Angel Reese this year, who are both preseason All-SEC second team selections.

The Saints leave for Arizona today where they’ll play the Cardinals tomorrow night. Wide receiver Chris Olave has cleared concussion protocol and is expected to play, but cornerback Marshon Lattimore and wide receivers Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry did not practice yesterday. Quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton were limited.

ULM travels to West Point in their final non-conference game of the season Saturday. The Warhawks are 2-5 on the season and have lost their last three games straight and their last two by only seven points each. Head Coach Terry Bowden says that this game against Army heading into the bye week is as important as any Sun Belt matchup…

The Black Knights’ triple-option offense averages over 300 rushing yards a game.

A big key for LSU this Saturday when they host seventh ranked Ole Miss is slowing down the Rebels run game. Ole Miss is averaging 271 rushing yards a game. Quinshon Judkins and Zach Evans give the Rebels a one-two punch in the backfield and quarterback Jaxson Dart can run the ball too. Kick-off is at 2:30.

LSU will host their second top-ten opponent of the season Saturday as Ole Miss comes to Tiger Stadium. The Rebels now sit alone atop the SEC West after Alabama’s loss to Tennessee giving LSU the opportunity to tie for first, but coach Brian Kelly says that won’t be the focus heading into the week…

Brothers and former LSU baseball players Austin and Aaron Nola will face off against each other in the National League Championship Series which gets underway tonight in San Diego. Austin is the starting catcher for the Padres, and Aaron has been an ace for the Phillies’ pitching staff this season. Their LSU coach Paul Mainieri remembers how consistent he was at LSU…

The Pelicans season tips off tomorrow night in Brooklyn featuring the returns of Pels former number-one pick Zion Williamson and Nets all-star Ben Simmons. Williamson has only played in 85 games of his three-year career with the Pelicans and missed all of last season with a foot injury. He averaged 27 points a game in his time with the team and joins a talented young roster featuring all-star Brandon Ingram and veteran leader CJ McCollum with big hopes for the season. The former all-star says he’s excited to get back to playing the game he loves and face a talented Nets roster tomorrow night…

The LSU Women’s basketball team was predicted to finish third in the SEC this year behind South Carolina and Tennessee. The Tiger’s Alexis Morris and Angel Reese were named to the preseason All-SEC Second Team and the team was ranked 16 in the preseason AP Poll. Coach Kim Mulkey’s group will begin their campaign for a return to the NCAA tournament November 7 against Bellarmine

LSU left tackle Will Campbell was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the week as he wasn’t called for any penalties and didn’t allow a single sack or a quarterback pressure against the Gators. The Tigers will return to action Saturday hosting seventh-ranked Ole Miss in Death Valley.

St. Thomas More is ranked number one in Class 4A by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. This Friday, the Cougars are at undefeated Teurlings Catholic, who is ranked second. Ouachita Christian has moved to the top spot in One-A and will host Cedar Creek this Friday.

The Saints are 2-and-4 heading into Thursday night’s match-up against the Arizona Cardinals. But because of some mediocre play in the NFC South, New Orleans is just one game back of Atlanta and Tampa Bay, who are tied for first place with three and three records.

Battling through injuries to key players and the growing pains of a new coaching staff, the Saints have still found themselves in positions to win, so the message from Coach Dennis Allen is one of resilience and determination…

The Saints had 14 players on an injury report they provided to the league, including Quarterback Andy Dalton, who has a back injury. A revised injury report comes out later today.

For the second time this month, LSU is getting ready to play a top ten team as the seventh ranked Ole Miss Rebels come to Tiger Stadium looking to stay undefeated. Two weeks ago, when the Tigers hosted Tennessee, who was ranked eighth at the time, it didn’t go well, a 40-13 loss.

LSU coach Brian Kelly says the team learned from their first top-ten opponent and is more prepared for the upcoming challenge this time around…

The Saints have 14 players on the injury report and their next game is in a couple of days, against the Cardinals in Arizona. New Orleans did not practice yesterday, but if they did, the injury report says Michael Thomas, Jarvis Landry, Andrus Peat, Keith Kirkwood and Marshon Lattimore would not have practiced. Also showing up on the injury list, quarterback Andy Dalton with a back injury. Saints Coach Dennis Allen says the injury report is just an unfortunate reality of the game…

Pelicans forward Zion Williamson says he is playing in tomorrow night’s NBA opener against the Brooklyn Nets. Williamson rolled his ankle last week and did not play in the preseason finale on Friday. But he went through a full practice yesterday.

The Saints fell short in Joe Burrow and Ja’marr Chase’s homecoming yesterday in a 30-26 loss to the Bengals. Burrow, an Ohio native, embraced Louisiana culture during his time at LSU and Chase is a New Orleans native himself. Burrow honored his teammate and the city by wearing Chase’s game-worn National championship jersey to the Superdome yesterday…

Much like that national championship game, the duo lit up the Superdome connecting for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns including the 60-yard fourth quarter touchdown to take the lead for the first and last time of the game. Despite their success against the home team, Burrow says he could still feel the energy from the fans…

LSU wide receiver and first-round draft prospect Kayshon Boutte electrified the Swamp with six receptions for 115 yards Saturday after a lackluster performance against Tennessee. Coach Brian Kelly named Boutte a gameday captain because of how well he prepared for the game…

LSU left guard Will Campbell was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the week after a dominant performance in which he wasn’t called for any penalties and didn’t allow a single sack or quarterback pressure in the 35-45 win. The Tigers will return to action Saturday hosting seventh-ranked Ole Miss in Death Valley.

The New Orleans Pelicans will tip off their season Wednesday night against the Nets. Star forward Zion Williamson was limited in practice yesterday but returned to full capacity today and assured reporters that he’ll be playing in Brooklyn on Wednesday.

The Ragin’ Cajuns men’s basketball team has been named the favorites to win the Sun Belt Conference in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll receiving 10 first place votes. Forward Jordan Brown was named preseason player of the year and will attempt to lead the team to their first tournament appearance since 2014.

What a homecoming for Ja’Marr Chase yesterday in the Superdome. The former Rummel Raider and LSU Tiger caught two touchdown passes from LSU Heisman Trophy QB Joe Burrow as the Bengals rallied to beat the Saints 30-26. Chase had seven catches for 132 yards and two touchdowns…

The Saints scored only one touchdown on five trips to the red zone and fall to 2-and-4 on the season.

Saturday night in the Swamp saw a breakout performance by the LSU Tigers offense as they defeated the Florida Gators 45-35. Quarterback Jayden Daniels accounted for six touchdowns and preseason All-American Kayshon Boutte had his best game of the season, six catches for 115 yards. Coach Brian Kelly says Boutte prepared well for the game and he was named a gameday captain….

Kansas State transfer Tyrone Howell had a huge game in Mobile on Saturday night as he caught nine passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns but it was not enough to help ULM beat South Alabama as the Jaguars won 41-34. It’s the first 200-yard receiving performance by a ULM player since Marty Booker did in 1996 against UCF.

The Saints were in position to get a big win at home over the Bengals on Sunday, but Louisiana legends Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase broke the hearts of Who Dat Nation. New Orleans led by nine points late in the third quarter, but Burrow and Chase connected on two touchdown passes as Cincinnati rallied for a 30-26 win in New Orleans. Saints Coach Dennis Allen says settling for just two field goals in the second half hurt…

The Saints had five trips in the red zone, but only scored one touchdown, while the Bengals scored TDs on their three trips to the red zone. New Orleans is now 2-and-4 and will visit the Cardinals this Thursday. Arizona is also 2-and-4.

The LSU offense finally had its break out performance offensively in the Tigers 45-35 win over the Florida Gators in Gainesville. Quarterback Jayden Daniels accounted for six touchdowns, three rushing, and three throwing as he had 349 passing yards. Coach Brian Kelly says he liked that Daniels was aggressive…

LSU will host seventh ranked Ole Miss this Saturday.

Tulane is ranked 25th in the A-P and Coaches polls. It’s the first time the Green Wave have been ranked since 1998 when they went 12-0.

Northwestern State is 3-0 in the Southland play for the first time since 2002 as the Demons defeated Houston Christian 37-10.

Saints Coach Dennis Allen says Andy Dalton will start again this Sunday when New Orleans welcomes the Cincinnati Bengals to the Superdome. It will be the third straight game Dalton has started as Jameis Winston continues to recover from back and ankle injuries. Dalton led the Saints to a win over Seattle last Sunday….

Also, Louisiana Tech tries to go 2-0 in Conference USA as they visit North Texas. ULM looks to upset South Alabama in Mobile. Tulane can improve to 6-1 on the season if they can get a win at South Florida.

Northwestern State looks to go 3-0 in the Southland as they are at Houston Christian, while Nicholls hosts UIW and McNeese takes on Texas A-and-M Commerce in Lake Charles. Grambling plays its first home game this season as the Tigers host Florida A-and-M.
