LSU Football Coach Brian Kelly said today he wants to get wide receiver Jack Bech more involved in Saturday’s game against New Mexico. So far Beche only has two catches in three games, after leading the team in receptions with 43 catches for 489 yards and three touchdowns last season.

The Tigers game against the Lobos is at 6:30 and Kelly says he’s looking forward to seeing what running back John Emery can do after making his 2022 debut last Saturday…

The Saints returned to practice to get ready for Sunday’s game against Carolina. Running back Alvin Kamara was a limited participant after missing the loss to the Buccaneers because of a rib injury. Cornerback Paulson Adebo was also limited with an ankle injury that’s kept him out the first two games of the season.

Lousiaina Tech lost to Clemson last weekend 48-20 but the Bulldogs showed they can be winners away from the football field. The Clemson football program has been grieving over the death of 15-year-old Ella Bresee, the sister of Tigers defensive tackle Brian Bresee. Before Saturday’s game, Tech players decided to write hand written letters to Bresee’s family to offer their sorrow and some words of encouragement. The NFL has upheld the one-game suspension handed down against Bucs receiver Mike Evans for violently shoving Saints corner Marshon Lattimore to the ground. He will miss this Sunday’s game against Green Bay.

LSU has released its 2023 football schedule. The Tigers will kick-off the season against Florida State in Orlando on a Sunday night during Labor Day weekend. Instead of playing Arkansas in November, LSU will host the Razorbacks on September 23rd and the Tigers will host Florida a week after visiting Alabama on November fourth.

LSU hosts New Mexico this Saturday and then they travel to Auburn for a six PM kick-off. Auburn starting quarterback T-J Finley is not expected to play Saturday against Missouri because of a sprained throwing shoulder. Finley has thrown four interceptions in the first three games of the season.

It does not appear Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore will be suspended for his role in Sunday’s fight with Buccaneer players Mike Evans and Leonard Fournette. Evans has been suspended for one game. Lattimore got into a physical altercation after he was shoved by Fournette and then Evans shoved Lattimore to the ground. Coach Dennis Allen told Lattimore he should not retaliate

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Evans is appealing his one-game suspension and a hearing was held today.

After losing to Captain Shreve, Union Parish is no longer ranked number one in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 3A poll. E-D White has moved to the top spot. Karr is now ranked number one in Five-A, after Zachary fell to St. Augustine.

LSU started its third different offensive line on Saturday as true freshman Emery Jones got the start at right tackle. The o-line as a whole struggled with some pre-snap penalties and Coach Brian Kelly says too much thinking may be taking place…

LSU hosts New Mexico State at 6:30 this Saturday. The Auburn game on October 1st will kick off at 6 PM.

Cajuns Coach Michael Desormeaux says he’ll continue to use the same rotation at quarterback for this Saturday’s Sun Belt opener at ULM. Chandler Fields and Ben Wooldridge combined to threw for 102 yards in a loss to Rice on Saturday. Fields is the starter and Wooldrigde is playing every third series series or so.

This is not the first incident between Evans and Lattimore. In 2017, Evans was suspended for one game for coming onto the field and shoving Lattimore in the back. LSU safety Jay Ward is this week’s SEC Defensive Player of the week while BJ Ojulari is the SEC Defensive Lineman of the week. Ward had a career-high 11 tackles and an interception against the Bulldogs, while Ojulari had four tackles and a sack and a half.

Baseball America has ranked LSU’s recruiting class number one in the nation. The Tigers have six players in Baseball America’s Top 500,,,,pitcher Jaden Noot, catcher Brady Neal, pitcher Chase Shores, catcher Jared Jones, pitcher Aiden Moffett and catcher Ethan Frey.

It was former LSU Tiger and Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette who shoved Lattimore after an incompleted pass that resulted in the benches-clearing brawl in the fourth quarter.

Some Saints fans believe Coach Dennis Allen should have benched starting quarterback Jameis Winston in favor of backup Andy Dalton. Winston had a poor performance against his former team and it contributed to a 20-to-10 loss to Tampa Bay. Winston was sacked six times and he was intercepted three times, one of the picks was returned for a touchdown.

Prior to the game, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported that Winston has four fractures in his back, but there’s no risk of further damage. Allen says he didn’t think the back injury hampered Winston’s play…

Meanwhile, we’ll see if the NFL will hand down any suspension for the fight that broke out between Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore and Bucs receiver Mike Evans. Leonard Fournette pushed Lattimore which started the fracas.

LSU’s defense played well in the Tigers SEC opening win over Mississippi State. The Bayou Bengals held the Bulldogs to 289 yards of offense in the 31-16 victory on Saturday night. Tulane won its first game over a Power 5 school on the road since 2010 on Saturday as the Green Wave upset Kansas State 17-10. The Green Wave are 3-0 and will host Southern Miss this Saturday. On the flip side, McNeese lost for the first time ever to a SWAC School as Alcorn State took down the Cowboys 30-19. The Pokes are 0-3.

Meanwhile Brady threw for 190 yards and a touchdown. And there was also a big fight between Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans and Saints cornerback Marcus Lattimore, which resulted in both players being ejected.

A big second half by the offense on Saturday night helped propel LSU to a 31-16 win over Mississippi State. The Tigers went up tempo towards the end of the second quarter and scored a touchdown right before halftime and they kept up that fast pace in the second half as they began to wear down the Bulldogs defense. In other college football action…the Ragin Cajuns 15-game winning streak ended on Saturday in Houston with a 33-21 loss to Rice. Tulane upset Kansas State 17-10 and as expected La Tech and ULM lost to Clemson and Alabama.

Louisiana Tech and ULM are big underdogs heading in their matchups against teams ranked in the Top 5. The Bulldogs are at 5th ranked Clemson and the Tigers are favorite by 33.5 points, while the second ranked Crimson Tide are favorite by nearly 50 points to beat the Warhawks.

The Saints are home underdogs on Sunday against Tampa Bay. Running back Alvin Kamara is questionable with a rib injury. He did not practice on Thursday and Friday.

Saints quarterback Jameis Winston is facing his old team and the team that ended his season last year when he tore his A-C-L. Winston is not putting any added significance on this game…
