Soccer fans are fired up for today’s World Cup match between the United States and England. These two nations last met in the 2010 World Cup and it finished in a one-one tie. Today’s match begins at 1 PM.

An up-and-down Saints offense will face a big test Sunday when they visit San Francisco. The 49ers are the only team in the NFL that’s allowing less than 300 yards a game. New Orleans quarterback Andy Dalton says San Fran is fundamentally sound on defense

Pelicans guard C-J McCollum will miss tonight’s game in Memphis because he’s been placed in the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

Tonight is the quarterfinals of the high school football playoffs. Ruston is at Denham Springs. The Yellow Jackets are in the quarters for the first time since 1985. 28th-seeded Breaux Bridge will try to keep their cinderella season alive as they host third-seeded North DeSoto.

Tomorrow, the Tigers will leave for College Station and kick-off on Saturday night is at 6 PM.

Tomorrow, 19th Tulane takes on 24th ranked Cincinnati. A spot in the American Athletic Conference Championship game is on the line. The Green Wave are also trying to secure a New Year’s Six bowl bid.

Several Saints players who missed last week’s win over the Rams returned to practice yesterday including cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who has been out since October 9th because of a abdomen injury. Mark Ingram, Marcus Davenport, James Hurst and Cam Jordan also practiced yesterday. New Orleans is at San Francisco on Sunday.

The LSU men’s basketball team suffered its first loss of the season last night as they fell to Kansas State 61-59 in the Cayman Islands Classic championship game. It appeared the Tigers tied the game as the buzzer went off on a Trae Hannibal lay-up. But after reviewing the play, it was determined the clock started late after LSU inbounded the ball, so the basket was waved off. The Tigers only scored 18 points in the second half.

In other action yesterday, Louisiana Tech topped Alabama A-and-M 80-75 as Terran Williams had 20 points and seventh ranked Baylor dribbled past McNeese 89-60.

Zion Williamson scored a season-high 32 points as the Pelicans defeated San Antonio 129 to 110. Coach Willie Green says Williamson had a monster performance…

The Golden Eagles are on a three-game losing streak, but one win away from becoming bowl eligible. Coach Terry Bowden says he’s impressed with Southern Miss and how they do not give away points…

LSU has moved up two spots in the latest College Football Playoff ranking to number five. Despite having two losses, the Tigers are one spot ahead of U-S-C, who has one loss on the season. C-F-P Committee Chairman Boo Corrigan says LSU’s strength of schedule is better than U-S-C’s and the Trojans have not been as good on defense as LSU.

LSU moved up two spots to number five in the latest College Football Playoff rankings. The two loss Tigers finished one spot ahead of one-loss USC, who beat UCLA last Saturday 48-45. The Bayou Bengals are at Texas A-and-M This Saturday, while USC faces Notre Dame in L-A. Georgia is number one in the C-F-P, followed by Ohio State, Michigan and TCU.

The Saints will return to the practice field today to prepare for Sunday’s game at San Francisco. The 49ers have won three in a row and New Orleans Coach Dennis Allen says they are a physical team…

In college basketball yesterday, LSU went on an 18-6 run in the second half to defeat Akron 73-58. Adam Miller had 23 points, while K-J Williams had 19 points. The 5-and-0 Tigers will face Kansas State tonight in the championship game in the Cayman Islands Classic.

And the Ragin Cajuns won in overtime last night over SMU 76-72 on the Mustangs home floor. Jordan Brown Brown had 26 points as U-L Lafayette rallied back from 10 point deficit.

LSU’s preseason All-American receiver Kayshon Boutte missed the team’s final home game against UAB Saturday night. Boutte was seen warming up but didn’t take the field during the game. Coach Brian Kelly said it was due to the flu bug the team’s been dealing with over the last couple weeks that has also affected Harold Perkins and Jayden Daniels. Kelly says the team has been fortunate so far.

The Tiger’s men’s basketball team defeated Akron 73-58 to advance to the championship of the Cayman Island Classic. Sophomore guard Adam miller led the team’s dominant performance with 23 points. The Tigers will play the winner of Rhode Island-Tulane tomorrow at 6:30.

The Saints got a much-needed win Sunday over a struggling Rams team. They’ll have a difficult task ahead this Sunday as they travel to San Francisco. The 49ers are coming off a 38-10 win over the Cardinals last night and have won their last three straight.

UL-Lafayette quarterback Ben Woolridge will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL. He earned the starting spot after sophomore Chandler Fields went down with an upper bowl injury. Fields has reclaimed the starting spot with Woolridge sidelined, but Coach Michael Desormeaux couldn’t overstate the importance he still has on the team as a leader and mentor…

The Pelicans dominated the Warriors last night on their way to a 128-83 victory. The Pelicans took advantage of a Golden State team without Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green and came out to an early lead, and controlled the whole game. Brandon Ingram led the team with 34 points, and guard Davonte Graham provided a 19-point spark off the Bench. The Pelicans will travel to San Antonio tomorrow.

LA Tech defeated ULM 79-58 at home last night. The Bulldogs’ depth was on display as five players scored double figures. After a back-and-forth first half the ‘Dogs were able to pull away in the second, making 10 of their last 13 attempts. The Bulldogs hope to keep this momentum against Alabama A&M tomorrow night while the Warhawks will look to bounce back in Omaha Friday.

The Saints will face a 49ers team in San Francisco on Sunday that’s won three in a row. San Fran defeated the Cardinals 38-10 last night to improve to six and four.

The Pelicans are now ten and seven after beating Golden State 128-83 last night. The Pels are at San Antonio tomorrow.

UL-Lafayette will visit Texas State after their 49-17 loss to Florida State University last weekend. The Cajuns will need to win their final game of the season for bowl eligibility. Head Coach Michael Desormeaux says the team is treating this game like a playoff game…

Cajuns quarterback Ben Woolridge will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, suffered in practice last week. Chandler Fields is back as the starter and he threw for 159 yards and a touchdown against Florida State last Saturday.

Northwestern State announces Brad Laird will be back as head coach of the Demons football program this season. Northwestern went four and two in the Southland this year, the first time they finished league play with a winning record since 2010.

Big upset in the World Cup today as Saudi Arabi defeated Argentina.

Coach Brian Kelly has led the Bayou Bengals to a 9-2 record with a chance at the College Football Playoffs in his first season. Kelly, who said he came to the SEC for the chance to win a national championship, says the conference lived up to his expectations…

LSU will visit Texas A-and-M on Saturday at 6 PM. The Aggies, who entered the season ranked sixth in the A-P Top poll, are 4-and-7 on the year and have failed to score more than 30 points against a Power five opponent.

The Saints won their 400th game in franchise history on Sunday when they defeated the Rams 27-20. Now its on to San Francisco. The 49ers rolled past the Cardinals 38-10 last night in Mexico City. San Fran has won three in a row and they are 6-and-4 on the season.

For the second time this season, the Warriors visited New Orleans and rested their top guys and the Pelicans took advantage. New Orleans easily won last night 128-83. The 45-point margin was the second largest in franchise history as the Pels closed out a six-game homestand with a four and two record. On a day that saw several top-ranked college football teams play close games, sixth-ranked LSU easily defeated UAB 41-10 in the final home game of the season. Coach Brain Kelly said the team played well in a late-season game against a team they should beat.

The LSU Men’s basketball team opened the Cayman Island Classic with a 77-61 win over Illinois State. The Tigers improved  to 4-0 on the season behind a spectacular 33 point performance from fifth-year senior KJ Williams. They advance to the semi-finals tomorrow at 12:30 against Akron.

SLU will host Idaho in the first round of the FCS Playoffs Saturday. The Southland Conference Champion Lions will make their fifth FCS playoff appearance in program history and second time in back-to-back years. Kickoff in Strawberry Stadium is at 6 p.m.

The USMNT opened their 2022 World Cup with a 1-1 draw to Wales. After coming out to a 1-nothing lead in the first half, Wales tied the game with a penalty in the 82nd minute. The US will face England on Friday.

The 9-7 Pelicans will host the Warriors tonight. The defending NBA champs have had a slow start to the season and will be without Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green tonight. Meanwhile the Pelicans will look to bounce back from a loss to the Celtics before going on a two-game road trip.

The Pelicans host Golden State at the Smoothie King Center tonight. Zion Williamson says he’s definitely playing after missing the last three games with a right foot contusion. It’s the same foot that he broke that led to him missing all of last season.

For the fifth time in as many games, LSU women’s baskerball scored 100 points in a game. Yesterday they defeated Northwestern State 100-to-45 in the PMAC.
