The top ranked LSU baseball team came away with another series victory over the weekend as they defeated Kentucky two games to one. The Tigers had to rally to win the series finale on Saturday. LSU is now 29-6 overall, 9-5 in the SEC and they’ll host the Ragin Cajuns tomorrow night.

Louisiana had a tough series against Troy losing two out of three. ULM won the first game of its series against South Alabama, but dropped the next two. Louisiana Tech swept FIU as the Bulldogs. McNeese won two of three from Southeastern, while Northwestern lost its series at Houston Christian.

There’s one more week left of spring practice for the LSU Tigers. One of the big additions is linebacker Omar Speights who transferred in from Oregon State. Last season Speights was named first-team All-Pac 12 after recording 83 tackles. Speights on why he chose to come to LSU…

Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts is now the highest paid player in the NFL according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter after agreeing to a five-year, 255-million dollar contract.

And the New York Post is reporting ESPN has resigned former LSU Tiger and now NFL analyst Marcus Spears to a multi-million dollar, four year contract. Spears is seen on NFL Live, First Take and Get Up giving his takes on professional football.

UL Lafayette split a doubleheader with Troy yesterday, but lost the series to the Trojans. ULM lost a series to South Alabama. Louisiana Tech swept FIU as Jorge Corona and Ethan Bates homered yesterday. McNeese took two of three from Southeastern Louisiana by beating the Lions three to two in ten innings yesterday.

There is one week left of spring football for the LSU Tigers who bolstered their linebacker unit by signing Omar Speights out of the transfer portal. Speights was an All-Pac 12 performer at Oregon State and recorded 304 tackles in four seasons with O-S-U. Speights is expected to be a starter and a leader for the Tigers in 2023….

Top ranked LSU played a sloppy game and lost to 12th ranked Kentucky 13 to 10 last night. The Bayou Bengals committed a season-high three errors, walked five hitters and LSU pitchers also hit three batters. Six of Kentucky’s 13 runs were unearned. And LSU hit into four double plays, including one to end the game…

LSU men’s basketball coach Matt McMahon continues to make moves in trying to get better. The Tigers have received a commitment from seven-foot graduate transfer Will Baker of Nevada. Baker was a third-team All Mountain West selection last season averaging 14 points and five rebounds a game. Baker began his career at the University of Texas.

The top ranked LSU baseball team crushed Kentucky last night 16 to 6 as Jordan Thompson and Brayden Joubert each hit a grand slam. Despite numerous injuries, LSU has earned a spot in the NCAA Gymnastics Final Four. The Tigers posted a score of 197.475 in the semifinals yesterday in Fort Worth, Texas. LSU seeks its first title in program history on Saturday.

Louisiana Tech signee Paris Guillory has been anmed the Class 3A Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Guillory completed a standout career at St. Louis Catholic in Lake Charles by averaging 27 points, 11 rebounds and four assists a game this past season.

This afternoon, the LSU Gymnastics squad competes in the semifinals of the NCAA Championships in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Pelicans season came to an end last night with a 123 to 118 loss to Oklahoma City. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 25 second-half points to lead the Thunder past New Orleans in the play-in tournament game. S-G-A finished with 32 points.

Coach Willie Green says it’s a disappointing end to the season. When Zion Williamson was healthy, the Pels looked like one of the best teams in the NBA, but Zion has been out since early January and other injuries also crippled their team…

Former LSU basketball player Wayne Sims has died at the age of 54. Sims was a four-year standout for the Tigers from 1987 to 1991 and made the NCAA tournament all four years. He played with former LSU greats Shaquille O Neal and Chris Jackson. Former coach Dale Brown says he’s crushed to hear about Sims’ passing…

The LSU football team lost defensive line coach and run game coordinator Jamar Cain to Sean Payton’s Denver coaching staff a few weeks ago. Defensive analyst Gerald Chatman took over as interim D-line coach and coach Brian Kelly says will be a candidate for the full-time position. Kelly said he’s looking for someone who can recruit in the SEC and develop players and should have a decision soon…
