Over the past two days, LSU baseball has been teeing off on Central Connecticut State pitching. The ten and one Tigers blanked the Blue Devils 13 to nothing yesterday after beating them 26 to 4 on Saturday. Both games lasted just seven innings. Cade Beloso hit a two run homer yesterday and Dylan Crews had a two-run double. Tonight, the Tigers host Butler who they beat 12 to 2 on Friday.

Louisiana Tech trailed the Northwestern Wildcats nine to three in the second inning yesterday and came back to win 16 to 9 to complete a three-game sweep. Phillip Matulaia had four hits and drove in four runs.

In other action yesterday, the Ragin Cajuns doubled up Campbell 14 to 7 to salvage one game from the series. ULM was swept by U-I-W. Nicholls defeated Memphis nine to two, Northwestern State fell to U-T Arlington five to two, McNeese over George Washington seven to six and Jacksonville upended Southeastern six to four.

The Ragin Cajuns men’s basketball team will play for a Sun Belt Tournament Championship tonight and an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. Second-seeded U-L Lafayette defeated 11th seeded Texas State 64-58 last night as Jordan Brown scored 18 points. The Cajuns will play eighth seeded South Alabama tonight. The Jaguars defeated James Madison 75-66.

The Southland Conference Tournament tipped off last night in Lake Charles with an upset as eighth seeded McNeese defeated fifth seeded Texas A-and-M Commerce 79-78. The Cowboys will play Nicholls today at 5 PM. Also last night, seventh seeded UNO advanced to the quarterfinals with a 90-69 win over Houston Christian. Jordan Johnson hit five three-pointers and scored 29 points for the Privateers.

Tonight, the Pelicans close out a three-game road trip by visiting the Sacramento Kings. The Pels are in ninth place in the Western Conference with a 31-33 record. The Kings are in third place at 37 and 26.

The top ranked LSU baseball team cruised to a 12-to-2 victory over the Butler Bulldogs last night as starting pitcher Paul Skenes (skeens) struck a career-high 13 hitters for his third win of the season. The 13 strikeouts are the most for an LSU pitcher since 2018. Dylan Crews hit his second home run and drove in three runs. The Tigers face Central Connecticut State at 1:30 today.

Louisiana Tech trounced the Northwestern Wildcats 14 to 5 as the Bulldogs hit four home runs. Ethan Bates had one of those home runs and drove in four runs.

The Ragin Cajuns lost at home to Campbell five to two. Cajun hitters struck out 15 times in the game. ULM lost in 13 innings to Incarnate Word five to four. The Warhawks had a four-to-one lead but only had five hits on the night.

Memphis edged Nicholls three to two, UT Arlington over Northwestern State five to four and McNeese blanked George Washington two to nothing.

The Pelicans led by 14 points after the first quarter, but lost to the Golden State Warriors 108 to 99 last night. Klay Thompson had 27 points for Golden State, while New Orleans was led by C-J McCollum who had 25 points. Brandon Ingram was held to 17 points.

The LSU Lady Tigers defeated Georgia 83-69 in the SEC Tournament as the Lady Tigers hit 11 three-pointers, which ties a season high. Alexis Morris made five three-pointers and had 28 points, Flau-jae (Flaw-jay) Johnson also hit five-three-pointers and finished with 21. LSU faces Tennessee tonight.

LSU men’s basketball concludes its regular season by visiting Florida today at 5 PM, while the Ragin Cajuns take on Georgia Southern tonight in a Sun Belt Tournament quarterfinal game.

In girls’ basketball yesterday…Oak Hill and Oakdale won their first state titles, while Northwood-Lena won its second straight. And Hathaway beat Fairview 64-54 to win the Division Five non-select title.

We now have a date on when Alvin Kamara’s battery case will go to trial. A judge in Las Vegas has set the trial date for July 31st. Training camp begins in late July. Kamara has also entered a plea of not guilty. Las Vegas Police say Kamara, Bengals cornerback Chris Lammonds and two others beat a man in a casino near an elevator prior to the 2022 Pro Bowl Game.

The top ranked LSU baseball team will take on the two and six Butler Bulldogs tonight at Alex Box Stadium. The Bulldogs were picked to finish in last place in the Big East Conference.

Louisiana Tech hosts Northwestern out of the Big 10 tonight. Bulldogs Coach Lane Burroughs says he will never schedule a game against Ole Miss again as a result of how the Rebels handled Wednesday’s weather-suspended game that resulted in a loss for Tech, even though they were winning when play was halted.

The LSU football team returns to practice March 9th as the Tigers look to improve on last year’s 10-win season. Quarterback Jayden Daniels is expected to be one of the top Quarterbacks in the SEC and a dark-horse Heisman prospect for next season but may start the Spring sidelined with a nagging knee injury suffered late last year. Brody Miller of the Athletic, though, says the team  isn’t too worried about Daniels missing time…

Saints Running Back Alvin Kamara pleaded “not guilty” to conspiracy to commit battery and substantial bodily harm in a Las Vegas courtroom earlier today. The charges stem from an incident involving Kamara and three others that occurred in February 2022. Kamara’s trial has been set for July 31.

Louisiana Tech is set to play FIU in a rematch of the 4 point loss that started the Bulldogs 6-game skid. FIU has also struggled to find a rhythm losing their last four, but Coach Talvin Hester knows his team needs to be prepared for the Panthers. Hester says he expects more full-court pressure from a team that forced 23 turnovers against the ‘Dogs in their last matchup…

The Pelicans snapped their four game losing streak last night in Portland. On the night of former Trailblazer CJ McCollum and longtime teammate Damian Lillard’s first reunion on the court together, it was all about Pels forward Brandon Ingram. Ingram scored a season high 40 points to help the Pels stay in a tight play-in race in the West. 10th place New Orleans will visit Golden State tomorrow just a game and a half back from the 5th place Warriors.

Two of the best scorers in the NBA went against each other last night, Brandon Ingram for New Orleans, Damien Lillard for Portland. Lillard had 41 points, while Ingram 40. But it was Ingram and the Pelicans that got the win, 121 to 110. New Orleans is at Golden State tomorrow.

LSU concluded the home portion of its schedule last night as the Tigers lost to Missouri 81-76. The Tigers led by 19 points in the first half.

La Tech looks to snap a six-game losing streak tonight as they host F-I-U. Since Cobe Williams left the team two weeks ago, Coach Talvin Hester has had to depend more on Isaiah Crawford who is averaging 15 points a game…

The Tigers are set to begin spring football a week from today.

Louisiana Tech baseball is not happy with how yesterday’s game ended with Ole Miss. The Bulldogs scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to take a five to four lead. But lightning moved into the area and the game never resumed. Since the Rebels did not not bat in the bottom of the seventh, the game reverts back to the scoere at the end of the sixth inning, with Ole Miss leading four to three, so the Rebels get credit for the win.
